Did anybody in the Philadelphia area see coverage of the streets? It's a madhouse! I love it. It's been a loooong 28 years, guys. Let's hope the Fightin' Phils can do it!

this is going to be the most pathetic ws ever. who even cares about these teams really?

I, for one, am glad that two teams who either haven't won the World Series in the past 28 years, or haven't been there at all, are (going to be) in the WS. It really was boring and repetitive to see Boston vs. New York and St. Louis vs. New York or Houston for a couple of years in the LCS.

Now you can go back to your Blackberrys iPhones and Sushi bars:D:D:D

Ahem. ;)

Die plzkthx. ;)

I'm disappointed naturally, but congrats to the Phillies. They outplayed the Dodgers and earned a trip the Series.

Even though it didn't work out as I we hoped, I'll have good memories of this season. I sure won't forget being at game three of the division series. I also have to feel that the Dodgers are finally on the right track after 20 years in the wilderness.

Congrats to the Phils, I honestly didn't think they'd make it to the series.

Congrats to the Dodgers for an impressive season. I hope their new found success continues.

Of course, it will gnaw on me for a long time that if only they'd held the lead in Game 4, the whole series might have turned out differently. But that's assuming that everything would have turned around after that. The Phillies clearly played the best of all the NL playoff teams and they deserve to win the pennant.

SI.com pointed out the other day that if it's Phillies/Rays, then it will be eight different teams in the World Series in the last four years. So much for dynasties! It would also be a matchup of two teams whose players combine for zero WS hits or wins.

Despite the great story that the Rays have going for them, I kind of prefer the Phillies to win. It's partly because I prefer NL baseball, but also because Philadelphia is really a tortured fan base. All of their major teams have been runner-up in the last 20 years, but haven't managed a championship. (Thank my Lakers for one of those finals thumpings!) As fun as the young Rays are to watch, they look like a team that could get a few more chances.

Sure, but they didn't -- and it wasn't as though we can blame Torre for playing the wrong cards. Wade and Broxton were the right guys for that job all season. Also, even if the Dodgers had managed to hold on to win Game 4, they still would have been facing the need to clinch in Philadelphia -- which hasn't exactly been an easy place for them to win all season.

I'm not complaining about this season. It worked out far better than I expected, and is a good step down the road to recovery for the Dodger organization. We got a taste of winning again and liked it -- and I hope Frank McCourt did too.

Dang... was so looking forward to the Dodgers winning, but it wasn't in the cards this year. Oh well. Congrats Phils! I am hoping you guys take it from which ever team goes from the AL......

What the hell was Maddon thinking? "Hey, let's walk Jason Bay to get to J.D. Drew. It's not like he'll come up with the game-winning hit or anything."

It's all good. This was the wakeup call the Rays needed to tighten the noose and not let up. They know how to hit off Beckett, it's a home game, and they won't make the same mistakes twice (ie, Gross playing it safe and not charging after the shallow hit) All this does is delay the Red Sox' golf season a couple more days.

Go Rays!

Like I said before, don't count your pennants before they're won. ;)
