I didn't think I'd live to see both Boston and New York fans trading flames after being smacked around by the Tribe. :D

Let's hope the run of form continues...in any other situation I'd be rooting for the Rockies, but I want to party like it's 1948!

Somebody needs to take Manny down a few pegs, he isn't Babe Ruth and doesn't need to celebrate hitting every home run. Run the damn bases and don't stare at it.

You're reaching. You've even seen them stand up and cheer? Must be the same thing as in Boston.

The tradition here is just so much more ingrained than it is out there. You can't help but be indoctrinated from the age of 5 and live it for the rest of your life. LA is a lot of things, but it's not that, in any way.

You're not hearing me. I was born and grew up in the Northeast. I didn't move to California until I was in college. I know the differences as well as anyone. The cheering reference was meant as sarcastic response to the suggestion that LA sports fans would rather hang out on street corners looking at celebrities than go to a ball game.

The Tribe is rolling (can I say that,or is that not PC?:p) They're a hungry young team getting the pitching and hitting at the right time.. They're feeling it big time now...

I had no problem with Francona starting Wake last night. My problem with him,is with the lineup. Pedroia is struggling and pressing big time now. Crisp is 0 for Cleveland series and looks tentative at the plate. He's gone after this year anyways..Why he didn't start Ellsbury and drop Pedroia to Crisp's spot to take some pressure off him is beyond me. When the lineup came out yesterday, the media was all over Francona. They're ripping him today big time..

I hate Francona. Always have, always will. Having Ellsbury sitting on the bench while JD Drew is in the starting lineup makes me angry. And the Gagne stuff... geez.

They are largely doing it with the depth of their bullpen. When the Tribe went to the Series in '95 and '97, they were a big-hitting team, and pitching was secondary. Now they have no Jim Thome/Manny Ramirez hitting superstars, but they still hit well pretty much across the board...and the pitching depth has improved immeasurably. Yeah, they have a couple of ace pitchers they didn't have in the 1990s, but even when Sabathia and Carmona start flailing, they have incredibly reliable guys like Rafael Betancourt and Jensen Lewis. Like I said, I'm just amazed at the depth of this bullpen.

Not that Cleveland has it in the bag yet, but the way the two teams are playing, doesn't Indians-Rockies sound like a very close match-up?

Of course, the last couple times I've thought that, it ended in a sweep.

All eyes are on the Rockies, but I'm wondering if they can keep the magic alive after a week off.

The worst-case scenario is still the 1989 Lakers, who won every game en route to the finals, then Magic and Byron Scott blew their hammies during the time off and they got swept by the Pistons.

You can't help but be impressed by the lineup depth of both the Indians and Rockies. Right now both teams are hitting well 1 through 9.

It's more of a momentum issue. The Rockies could hardly be any hotter right now. The only direction they could move is towards cold. Sustaining that energy for an entire week of no play is going to be difficult.

Speaking of which, this could be the first World Series played in snow.

PUT JACOBY IN THE ****ING GAME

I was pretty much yelling that all last night... stupid Francona.

Tomorrow he better be starting instead of strikeout crisp. Kielty will be starting instead of JD Blew.

ellsbury - cf
youkilis - 1b
ortiz - dh
ramirez - lf
lowell - 3b
kielty - rf
varitek - c
lugo - ss
pedroia - 2b

that's what I would go with for the lineup.

Sox are on life support..There's panic in the streets..Pink hats are lined up ten deep on the Tobin Bridge :p:D

I am having doubts about the Red Sox ability to win four games in a row.

Actually it's three in a row..If they don't get up early and put some runs on the board for Beckett,Sabathia will get in a grove. Then you can put a fork in them.Someone on that team needs to put a fire under their collective asses. The team looked dead last night....

If anyone had told me Cleveland would be up 3-1 on the Red Sox, I might have believed it if Ortiz, Ramirez, and Beckett were gone and not playing. I didn't think for an instant they'd be down like this. Credit to Cleveland--they're playing extremely well.

As for the Rockies--unbelievable. Simply unbelievable.

It's played like 7 f**king times during each commercial break, I'm sick of hearing any part of it. And, I've never liked anything Mellencamp has done anyways :D

Blatantly stolen from Bill Simmon's game 4 blog:

"8:51: The dream is still alive, some day it will come true ... and this country it belongs, to folks like me and you ... So let the voice of freedom, sing out through this land ... This is ouuuuuuuuuuuur country.

(Now it has gotten to the point when I look forward to belting the chorus out. Chevy has just beaten me down completely -- it's the only commercial that causes Stockholm Syndrome. This is ouuuuuuur country.)"

What are these reports of Beckett being injured.

you could go and read espn.com :p

basically the day after game one Francona said "beckett was a little sore"

personally I think this was just to make people try not to bitch so much about him starting wakefield (which was the right decision: if youk catches that pop fly and/or wake doesn't **** up that ball, they get out of that inning giving up 2-3 runs).
