You're signature is strange for a Yankee fan. Especially since every Yankee win has been bought.
Well it goes both ways doesn't it.;) Red Sox fans are a lot like Yankee fans, except Red Sox fans are getting far more arrogant.

The Rockies are well rested, I think they are in good shape. They are a true underdog not to be taken lightly, this will be the Red Sox downfall.

And for the record was 96 98 99 2000 bought? You can argue that everything from 2001 on were but not the championship teams. The 04 Red Sox were certainly bought.

Like Yankee fans, never. They have been obnoxious forever, willing to throw away anyone the minute their performance falters. Not so with Sox fans. We stick with our players through thick and thin (mostly). No one is more arrogant than a Yankee fan. The only thing that has made the Sox competitive with the free-spending Yankees recently is that the current ownership is willing to spend money to be competitive. Prior ownership was not.

As for the Rockies, yes they are well rested. They even took the Sox for 2 out of 3 earlier in the season. That was then. This is the World Series. They will not be able to win 4 games. Who on the Rockies has dealt with the pressure of performing in the WS? The Sox will win, period. Get over it.

And since the Yanks have canned Torre, don't expect any post-season play in '08. Be prepared to be bitter and negative for another year.

Don't get your hopes up for a Yankee collapse, We have great young pitchers ready to step up. The team is a lot younger then it has been in 10 years. I think they will be younger then the Red Sox next year. And the Yankee fan is cocky and for good reason. 26 championships. The Red Sox fan has no reason to be arrogant yet. Maybe if they win a few more then we can talk abut bragging rights.:p The Red Sox need a "nation" to tell them when to cheer. The Yankees don't need that.

Dude Im ready for next year. Why don't you worry about your series coming up. Don't be surprised when the Rockies are wiping the floor with you.

Nothing more than more sour grapes from a disgruntled Yankees fan.

And yes, the champagne tastes sweeter at home. Just in case you were wondering. It has been a few years since your $200 million payroll has payed off.

Kiss the Rockies goodbye. See you Yanks next year. Better luck next time.

Since there is already a Yankees/Red Sox thread, I won't bother with that part of it.

As for the current playoffs, the Rockies have some great players, and Francis is a good pitcher.

But, NL teams typically fare poorly against the AL, especially with AL home field advantage.

I know the Rockies beat the Sox 2 out of 3 in June, but I don't think that can hold up.

If the Rockies bats stay quiet as they have so far, and the Sox keep up even half their output, Sox win.

Should be a good series :D

Pot, meet kettle. Although, we do have frankenSteinbrenner, the modern day ruination of the game to thank for all the hoopla.

Since the Red Sox fans like to get on how much bigger the Yankee payroll is I think its only far to do the same with the Red Sox and Rockies.

Red Sox, $143,123,714
Rockies, $54,424,000

What could the Rockies get with that extra 90 million.

Well making it all the way to the WS and having all of the sold-out games, concessions, merchandise sale is definitely going to help their revenue.

The reason the Red Sox and Yankees (and Cubs, etc) spend so much is because they have fans that spend money on the team. The games are always sold out, and people buy a ton of ****.

Sorry, but the justification myth of balance and fairness with Revenue Sharing by the fan base is just another inequality enjoyed by the fat cats of baseball. I don't think your fan base(s) are capable of getting it. The point is underscored by MacNut's question. It's the wrong question.

We all know why the Yankees have a huge payroll but people forget is that they are allowed too. They make huge money, Most of it is not because of the fans but the TV rights. The YES Network is valued at over a billion dollars alone. That isn't even team revenue. All teams make money how they spend it is another story. Granted the Yankees and Red Sox are in huge cities and have huge fan bases but that doesn't mean they have to spend that money on the team, they just choose too. The point I was making is that Red Sox fans are always using the argument that the Yankees spend to much money and have an unfair advantage. I am just pointing out that the Red Sox are guilty of this too. I don't care if your team wants to spend 500 million on a payroll that is their right to do so but don't knock your rival when your team is just as bad.

Wow, look at Cleveland and Colorado down there at numbers 23 & 25 respectively on the payroll list...looks like we're both punching well above our weight in financial terms. In Cleveland it probably helps that we have rabid fans that continue to support the teams through championship droughts that began before any of us were alive...;)

That argument hasn't been used by Sox fans for a few years now...

Precisely! That's why I was hoping for a Cleveland vs. Colorado WS.

As it stands in MLB, the Luxury Tax Rule is a joke and discredit to the game from political time-serving Commissioners to abusive GMs and avarice-plagued owners. They pay the 40% slap on the wrist "fines" because they can get by with it. That's a far cry from "allowed to". But thanks for making the point.

The only solution is a salary cap, and thats not going to happen. The Yankees make enough money to be able to pay any fine the league throws at them.

Unfortunately, I think you're right. I have no dog in the fight, being an ol' timer STL fan, since they've caved in to the same pressure over time, but it is in my craw. Just one of those things. Anyway, I'm gonna to pull for the Rockies even though I like J.D. Drew, but am used to being in a minority. :p

Apparently Wake's back is hurt so he's not going to play in the WS. Lester is expected to start game 4, and either Tavarez or Bryan Corey are going to replace Wake on the roster.

There's an even easier solution: share TV rights money the same way they share gate receipts. The Yankees would still be the richest, just not by as much.

That's assuming that a solution is even necessary. Having the highest payroll has not yielded championships for the Yankees. In fact, they've come up short ever since they started trying to outspend the whole league instead of develop players from within.

Yeah,I heard Wake with Francona on EEI..Team player and a class guy..Always has been. Tavarez had a rough September and hasn't pitched in weeks. The talk is Tavarez for Wake and Gagne for either Cash or Corey..Three catchers tho??

Let's not forget the proposed Helton deal earlier in the season.. The Rockies wanted Helton for Lowell,Tavarez and either Ellsbury,Bucholz or Delcarmen..Thank God that didn't happen...

wow talk about a lopsided trade.

If the Sox trade any of their young guys (Youk, Pedroia, Jacoby, Paps, Lester, Buchholz, MDC), they're ****ing morons. These guys are going to be the core of the team for the next 10 years.
