the fox 25 guys are ********d and interviewing all the players who are ********d

****ing awesome.

also i loved the part where they were interviewing theo and the fans in the background were yelling "DONT SIGN AROD" and "KEEP MIKE LOWELL"

World Series Champs baby!

How was Papelbon not the MVP?

I think it was a toss up between Paps, Pedroia, and Lowell. I'm glad Lowell got it. He was great in the WS and has been our MVP all year, so it's perfect.

This never gets old.

2004 was for our parents, grandparents, and everyone who never got to see the Sox win one.

2007 is for us.

While it doesn't mention this year (heck, it doesn't seem to have been updated in the last 3 years), I found more evidence of some Yankees fans having class. (Well, aside from the URL :p)

Also, I'm camping out for a hat tomorrow. I said at the beginning of this season, "They'd better win again, because my WS'04 hat is getting dirty and smelly". Guess I'm out $30 tomorrow. :D

The last thing I will say to this thread before the Hot Stove gets some wood is this.

The Red Sox have had an easy road the past 2 times they went to the World Series. The teams they played sucked and did not even put up a fight. Until the Red Sox can beat a decent team I will not honor the championships. At least the Yankees had to fight to win. The NL sucks and so do the Red Sox. Beat a real team and we will talk.

Last week you were talking about how great Colorado is.

Did the Yankees even make the playoffs this year? It's been so long since they played a game I can't remember. Thank you for confirming that indeed Yankees fans are douchebags, and some of them, apparently, a little slow in the brain.

Pound sand.

Congrats Red Sox!

The last thing I will say

We should be so lucky

Keep talking..It's fun watching you make a complete and total a** out of yourself with each and every post you make..

Man that was a hard series to watch. As much as I hate to admit it, the Red Sox just out played the Rockies at every turn.

Congratulations.

Don't feel too bad. You guys got a solid young team that's only going to get better next year.

I wish I could believe that.

As I recall, Boston won the WS in 2004 because the Yankees committed the worst playoff collapse in the history of sports. I don't see how you can disrespect their titles when the Yankees were one of those opponents.

Fortunately, no one cares whether they have your respect or not.

Congrats to the 2007 World Champion Boston Red Sox!

Colorado played strong though. Maybe we'll see a re-match some day.

It's too bad that some grown adults cannot practice good sportsmanship. Good sportsmanhip is part of being a good fan. Remember, "There's no crying in baseball".

21st Century

Boston Red Sox - Two World Series appearances, Two wins
NY Yankees - Two World Series appearances, Two losses

As to the "easy" Red Sox wins, in 2004 they had to stage the best comeback, ever, in MLB history, against the AL team with the best record (101 wins)
Then beat the Cards who had the best record for the season (105 wins)

For the next one, they had to beat a team that had tied them for the best record, then beat the Rockies: "who won twenty-one of their last twenty-two regular season games, had a team earned run average of 2.05, a bullpen earned run average of 1.55, and set a new Major League record for best fielding percentage by a team during the regular season."

Yeah, easy.

The Boston Red Sox (Now under NEW management) are showing that a generous payroll and a great farm system trumps history.

In the last 25 years the Yankees have won 4 series, all under Torre, and none since 2000.
In that same time the Sox have won two, 2004 and 2007. Maybe the Sox will have the same sort of run and end up winning a few more in the next decade, that would sure be nice. :D

And for next year? Most of the Sox will be back, including the best hitters, fielders, coaches, and pitchers.
The Yankees are losing their coach, best hitter, perhaps the best closer, at least one of their starters, and their farm system is not stacked.

TDD: Thank you for showing some class and being an example to Yankees fans everywhere.

P.S. The Sox had to play their best to beat the Rockies (which is the point of course), and I have a feeling they'll be in the playoffs next year too, along the Cleveland.

You're welcome. Thank you for noticing. Like I said, I hate the Red Sox but I do have to respect them.

@MacNut, I'm sorry but Colorado wasn't an easy team to beat (excluding that first game which was a horror show for them). Colorado had an extraordinary run, probably one of the best that baseball has ever seen. The Red Sox have the better team, but it wasn't like the Rockies just friggin rolled over and died and got destroyed every game.

Classy.

Correction, it was both a historic comeback and a collapse at the same time. There was no chance in hell the Cardinals were going to beat the '04 Sox. After beating the Yankees it was destiny, no other way to slice it. The Sox just completely owned in '04.

Thank you for confirming that indeed Yankees fans are douchebags,
Yankee fans are passionate about their team, say what you will but they want to win.

Unless you're a Yankees fan named MacNut.
I only cry when we win, when we lose I smash things.:p

I respect the team not the fans. I think they are just as cocky as their Yankee counterparts.

If the Yankees could of closed the deal they would of been in the 04 series. I think it was more a collapse then anything else. They handed the series to the Red Sox.

These are the biggest things that get in my craw about the Red Sox is that they seem to find a way to kick a team when they are down. If the series went a full 7 games and the Red Sox won with blood and tears I would be able to swallow it better.

You just said a week ago or something you had no respect for the Red Sox (team) The moral of the story is, no matter what team you root for you're going to be passionate about them.... except the Devil Rays (sorry , it was there :p )

Well duh, the Yanks only needed to win one more game. I'm sure they would've easily handled the Red Birds.... but that's now how it went down. Wait, just because the Red Sox didn't go a full 7 in the World Series means that it wasn't a justifiable championship? I'm actually starting to think you are crazy.... Am I still a lil sour about '04 of course... just like Red Sox fans were sour about '78, '86, '03 (and countless other times).

The thing that really pisses me off is that my whole family full of Red Sox fans will never let me hear the end of it again. I'd rather be on the long end of the poking stick.:p

It is sadistic but I like to see the Red Sox fan in pain.

There are several points in the '04 Series. The Red Sox swept a 105-57 season Red Bird team that just didn't show up for the Series. The implication that they beat a lousy team is just false. Teams earn the right to get in to the playoffs and get hot or not. Sometimes they go cold at the worst time, but that happens.

Even if the Red Birds showed up, I don't think it would've stopped the Red Sox. The Red Sox were on fire, they slayed the dragon. Not disrespect to the Cards and what they did that year, but they didn't have a chance. I know the Sox didn't beat a lousy team, I was just asking MacNut just because the series didn't go 7 it doesn't count.

If the Cards won 1 game I would not mind as much. The Sox sweeping both series kinda shows that either they are just that good or their opponent is that bad. A few errors also played into the Sox favor. If a few balls are played better the whole series would be different.

Not you. Never heard you say they were lousy. That reference was made by MacNut.

You can say that about any game and any team! That's baseball!

My apologies. The '06 Red Birds were lousy.... they just happen to have gotten hot at the appropriate time. 2006 WAS the Mets year and Beltran took a nasty curve for a called strike three. :p :D

The one thing about 04 that really pissed me off was that the Yankees would of had that series easily if they didn't blow it to the Red Sox.

I also think the Yankees had the Red Sox number this year and if we could of gotten past Cleveland we would of had no problem with the Sox.

10-8 in the season series is hardly having a number. The bottom line is that you're just bitter and you're now eating your words when way back in the spring you said the Sox would collapse, the Yankees would come back and win the division and the championship. But it didn't happen and now you're just bitter.

And I'm loving every minute of it. All of this crap you're saying is pretty ****in hilarious to me. And you know why? The Red Sox are the 2007 AL East Champions and the 2007 World Series Champions. Whatever you think doesn't matter. That trophy that was carried down Yawkey Way back in to Fenway around 5pm this afternoon is what matters.

And you can keep living in the past as long as you want with those 26 world championships way back in the day, but nobody really cares about the past. We live in the present. And in this present century, the only stat that matters is that the Red Sox have 2 World Series rings and the Yankees have 0.
