congrats to the red sox (yes i know you have to win one more game, but i don't see the rockies winning game four).

this series, and the playoffs as a whole, have been a total bust. boring.

One year ago, Jon Lester was undergoing chemotherapy and fighting for his life.

Later tonight, he's going to be on the mound pitching to win the World Series.

I think "fighting for his life" is a bit of a stretch. It was a treatable form of lymphoma that they found fairly early (I think). He was done chemo by Dec 21st.

Anyways, he was very good in his last outing (3 innings in game 4 of the ALCS, only two baserunners allowed). Hopefully it will be less stressful. Sure, the 6 runs would have held up, but I wouldn't trust a 1-run lead in that park with even Nolan Ryan or Whitey Ford on the mound.

Any type of cancer is serious and can be life threatening. But anyways, I'm really looking forward to seeing him pitch. I've liked him since I saw him pitch a few times in Pawtucket back a couple years ago. I think he's going to pitch well. There's really no pressure on him. He just needs to keep his pitch count down and get us a solid 6 (7 would be even better) innings, since the bullpen was used quite a bit tonight.

If for some reason he can't get it done we have Beckett going the next day.

1. taking daisuke out after one ****** walk. (the first walk he got screwed on the 2-2 pitch it should have been a strike)
2. javier lopez is just ****ing awful. i'd rather see gagne. tito should have brought timlin in when he took out daisuke.
3. bringing timlin back out for the 7th after two amazing defensive plays saved the 6th. he got rocked on a shot to the track 410 feet to center, then lugo made that amazing catch.

I can't fault Tito for taking Dice K out. He's gotten heat for leaving him in one pitch too long all year..I would have gone with Delcarmen.Anybody but Lopez.Terry Francona is 7-0 as a World Series skipper.

Ellsbury in leadoff last night was huge. He and Pedroia, two rookies, hitting one,two..What a night..

Think the underwriters on the insurance policy are sweating now, lol:
A Red Sox World Series win is going to make a lot of New England sofa buyers happy. Thousands of Jordan's Furniture customers bought approximately $20 million worth of product during a six-week spring promotion in which the company guaranteed refunds if the Red Sox win the 2007 World Series. The company is insured against losses if the Red Sox win.

1-2 in the lineup for the next 10 years. awesome.

Eh, much rather have Youkilis in the 2-slot and drop Pedroia down to 8th or 9th next to Lugo.

Ellsbury looks great but let's not polish that HoF plaque just yet. He's had a nice playoff run, but the road to baseball greatness is littered with the careers of young players who were hot but couldn't make the next adjustment after they hit the ~1500 AB mark.

You're talking about a guy with less than 400 AB at the AAA level.

I like the guy, but let's put a reality check in there.

Makes me wish I ended up getting that other, more expensive sofa!!
Oh well, can't complain about an $800 gift. :)

What does that have to do w/ anything? AAA is nothing more than a shuttle league for players that shouldve given it up..for the most part. AA is where it could make or break a prospect....and the last I looked, Ellsbury dominated AA.

Sox guy here, in the 'burbs west of Boston. Of course, I'm just about jumping up and down with joy. However,,,

It would be a mistake to get overconfident. The Rockies are a strong team. They're not just going to stop fighting, just because the Sox are up three games to none.

So, sit tight. Put your Red sox stuff on at game time tonight, and think good thoughts. :D

First of all, you're wrong, but let's assume you are right about AAA.

He only had 273 AB in AA.

But sure if you want to make the argument that small sample sizes = truth, then have at it.

'07 World Series Champs, Boston College NCAA Football, Patriots and the NFL, and a trio in the NBA with forward Kevin Garnett, guard Paul Pierce and forward/guard Ray Allen with the Celtics. Boston, are you on a roll right now, or what?! Makes one want to move there. ;)

COME ON BABY 6 MORE OUTS

also, **** fox and joe buck for spending the last inning talking about a-rod.

Really surprised they put Okajima in.
Seems like the Rockies are getting touchy about strike zones, listening to the radio, so I can't comment on it, but it sounds like frustration coming through.

But, 5 outs to go...

On the plus side for any Rockies fans or Sox haters, Gagne is warming, so there is a chance. :(
