This is so unnecessary 😂😂😂😂

Unfortunately it is necessary due to Apple’s poor material choice (or good choice from an Apple shareholder’s perspective).

I didn’t look at the price but if they‘re charging $100 for it then that’s insane. You’re better served by buying a cheap neoprene sleeve from Amazon If you want to maintain the Smart KB finish.

What sort of thing are you suggesting? I like the look and feel of my MK now, new, and not in a case, but I’d like to protect it so it doesn’t get all wrinkly like my SKF.

Yikes, reminds of the first case that Apple made for the original iPad that turned it into a Encyclopedia Britainnia.

This thing is fantastic, no matter what people say. I'm just a bit worried about the linen finish wearing out. Can anyone recommend a felt or neoprene sleeve for the Pad & Quill case? Once in there, the case should be safe. I can then insert the sleeve into a zip-lock bag, for water protection.
Clearly the ziploc/sleeve/case/case-encased iPad needs to be set in the middle of a yard of freshly-poured concrete, which is then welded into a tungsten cube. If the tungsten plates are, say, an inch-and-a-half thick, that should result in a one meter cube, that weighs a mere few thousand pounds. Some sacrifices must be made, of course, for the ultimate in protection. Thought it’s probably best to store it in Cheyenne Mountain, just to be sure.

Oh no, I can’t ruin my new Pad & Quill case, I need to put it in another case before I put it into my backpack.

Which one? Got a link?

Bought this one. Not expensive comes with a little bag to put other stuff in there like cables/air pods/pencil.

The statement that "Apple Pencil 2 charges perfectly inside the case" is technically accurate but a bit misleading... All it seems to be saying is that the outer edge of the case is such that the Apple Pencil doesn't protrude, but I'm not convinced there still wouldn't be a risk of it falling off the magnetic attachment, since there doesn't appear to be any kind of clip or strap to hold it in place.

That said, it does illustrate one of the biggest deficiencies in the Magic Keyboard itself, and that's really not having anywhere to store the Apple Pencil. However, I managed to solve that with a $3 generic "tablet" sleeve from the dollar store, which is big enough to stash the iPad Pro with MK and leaves enough clearance for the Apple Pencil. As an added bonus, it also has a couple of small zippered pockets for stashing other accessories like USB-C dongles, since sadly the move from Lighting to USB-C hasn't yet obviated the need to carry those around.

Why not?

In a time of AirPod case cases anything is possible! ;)

I use an AirPods case case for the purpose of being able to attach a Tile to it! If they add a Find my Airpods feature for the case (or the Airpods when they are inside the case), I wouldn't need to!

It is actually shockingly durable. I had one on my MacBook Pro for four years and it looked as good when I took it off as the day I got it. I drug that thing around the world two times… Literally.

I put these on all of my products because I love the edge protection and the recessed place to put the iPad pen.

Would the 13” option be a better fit?

I’m sorry but why would I add more bulk/weight to my iPad Pro + Magic Keyboard?
Kind of what I was thinking as well. I ended up finally getting the Magic Keyboard. I don’t find it too heavy as it is, but I am also not looking to add more bulk. My iPad Pro is in and out of my book bag many times a day. Plus I’m already carrying around a MacBook Pro on top of books.
