Following news that the HomePod leaves white rings on some wood surfaces treated with oil or wax, Pad & Quill has designed and debuted new Leather Coasters that are meant to be used with the HomePod.

Available in two colors, Whiskey and Chestnut, the 4-inch HomePod Coasters are made with full-grain leather and offer a soft leather backing.

Pad & Quill's new coasters will prevent the rings that occur on some wood furniture due to a chemical reaction between the wood and the silicone used for the vibration-dampening base of the HomePod.

The coasters will also work with other speakers that include similar silicone bases and also leave white marks on surfaces, such as the Sonos One, but the coaster's size and shape were designed with the HomePod in mind.

The new Leather HomePod Coasters can be purchased from the Pad & Quill website starting today for $19.95. Orders will begin shipping out next week.

Or maybe Apple could have put a nice rubber gasket on the bottom of this speaker and nobody would have to worry about it.

    Entrepreneurs being agile! Very impressive.

Could we now run a story on how HPs don't cure cancer, diabetes & heart disease, how they can't provide unlimited clean energy for free, how they don't yield world peace, feed the hungry, home the homeless, etc. in hopes entrepreneurs can quickly respond and solve those problems in 24 hours too?

Why do they have to be made from a piece of a dead animal?

Didn't some reviewer say yesterday that a coaster won't help, as the speaker relies on a large flat surface to help with bass response?

There is, that is what is causing the ring. It's a silicon ring for vibration dampening.

That’s, um, what’s causing the ring.

20 bucks. Or you could use, I don’t know, an ordinary cheap coaster you’ll never see anyway. Or maybe a disc of paper you could cut out yourself for $0.0001.

I’m curious if this is a product they intended to make ahead of the HomePod release, because that was relatively fast, since the article surfaced yesterday. Just seems coincidental that these are available for sale the following day after the article of the HomePod leaving marks.

Props on how fast they were with this...... although you could set the HomePod down on a couple $10 bills and still have your $20!

This is what makes it all worthwhile:
“...will also work with other speakers...”

Isn't there a proverb that goes something like "A fool and his money are soon parted" ?

Edit: Or maybe that was just on a fortune cookie. . . :)
