Do you remember how the iphone use to be?
I remember the battery drained quick but apple did get on the ball with the 2.1 update and fixed it.

You cant knock the device so early in the game it was just released today.

The iphone still lack features even after 2 years of life.

There was no logistical reason for Apple to wait so long for cut, copy & paste. There were mock ups of how it should be implemented (many showed the EXACT way Apple ended up doing it) weeks before the phone came out.

Its easy to say, different creating it. Or perhaps planned all along so Palm and other can't copy Apple way.

I agree.

Why doesn't apple implement cloud storage for your itunes music?
I think that will enhance the overall aspect of mobileme.

FINGERS CROSSED FOR SOME KIND OF UPDATE TO MOBILEME ON MONDAY.

With apple planning a billion dollar data farm in N.C i can only imagine the awesome projects ahead.

That is an excellent post! What a wonderful day that would be. Completely in line with the ":apple: gives us what we don't even realize we want yet" mentality.

10 internets to you sir!

7) Can't talk on it while charging via USB connection.

No, that's not true. You can talk while charging it over USB, but you can't talk while using it in USB drive mode.

Page 81 in the User Guide:
"You can copy files from a computer to your phone, and from your phone to your computer, by putting your phone in USB drive mode.

When your phone is in USB drive mode, you can't make or receive calls or use other wireless features such as email or the Web."

I am a big fan of the iPhone, but after some diligent research, the Pre might actually give the iPhone a run for its money.

The biggest selling point is really their WebOS, as others have said again and again. With the iPhone, people never really thought about being able to multi-task. Perhaps maybe because it wasn't necessary, but imagine having my calendar, phone, game(s), gps and all other stuff open at once and I can effortlessly swipe thru them w/o losing their stored data. The luxury of having the ability to do this allows for so much more.

What I like to know is, how will Apple respond to this. A half-assed response would be some sort of background application enabler, which is already available via Cydia. I think Apple will have to truly revamp their OS in order to get it up to speed w/ the Pre.

Before the App store developed, the only reason why people wanted the iPhone (besides that it was cool and hip) was the fluid and intuitive OS. Even for their desktop/laptop market, OS X was their biggest gun. With the Pre's WebOS, Apple prolly is really sweating right now and trying to hold off Palm w/ the App store.

Palm actually is pretty smart to have put in already some commonly used apps because most ipHone users have those as well. With that, it will buy them time to mature their app store.

The only other alternative response Apple may have is to open up their OS UI coding for a serious makeover.

I'm liking this competition already...:D

And yet anti-fanboys still knock the battery life. It's only expectable that the Pre gets similar treatment.

WRONG.. the applications run slow .. the UI is laggy.. people are having problems with alot of crashes .. multitasking isnt that great.. copy and paste is a no go you cant search email or entire phone..people are getting bad service

oh yeah apple is totally going to have to go back to square one to compete with this

In the UK we have a legal process called "sectioning" under the Mental Health Act. What's the US equivalent, and can somebody please get this guy the help he needs (or ban him)?

when you close an app it remembers where you were and starts up at that spot - so what's the difference between closing an app and then going back to it and having it run in the background? Turn by turn and music running in the background are probably two of the handful of apps that truly need to run in the background - apple already allows the ipod to run in the background and i bet anything that their allowing turn by turn to run as well. games suck up a tremendous amount of juice - letting them run in the background can open up to a dead battery when you don't expect it.

dont forget that sprint was telling everyone DO NOT remove your battery by yourself bring it into a sprint specialist or whatever .

they say if you remove the battery by yourself you can lose all your data
