is now the time to jailbreak, or do 98% of all the apps in the cydia store still say "not currently compatible with your operating system"? I'm mostly interested in biteSMS, and intelliscreenx, anyone have these installed on a 6 or 6+ yet?

BiteSMS sais the main developer quit, so may be a while OR someone else will come out with a comparable tweak.

Intelliscreenx is working on updating their tweaks (here is from their twitter feed: MyWi, IntelliID, and My3G updated with fixes. MyWi now supports OnDemand for iOS8. Still working on ISX8 and Messages+ updates.).

I would JB before 8.1.1 comes out as it fixes the loop pangu team used. I have a list of some great ones on page 8 of this thread.

iOS 8 removed any desire for me to jailbreak.
I just don't have the reason anymore.

I disagree with the premise that jailbreaking is insecure

If it is, than anywhere you have root access is insecure, such as OS X and windows

Only the root/admin user is suppose to have access to that account. These jailbreaks are local root exploits. See the insecurity now?

Okay, if jailbreaking is so unsecure where are all the cases of vulnerable victim's that have been hacked over the years??

man i really wanna jailbreak my 6+ for eclipse 2 .. flux and bite sms .. but having apple pay on my phone makes me iffy

No. The insecurity still lies with whatever you install after you jailbreak.

Similar to osx trojans

Well, you still have to trust the jailbreak itself...;-). If you do, indeed your safish if you didn't compromise all the sandboxes the normal Apple applications run in and haven'T installed some random ones.

Alright question for the guys that know a lot about cydia, when I got divorced I permanently deleted both Google and Facebook (so many reasons I shouldn't need to explain lol). I have all the receipts from Amazon saved in my email for EVERYTHING I ever purchased on cydia, is there any way at all to recover those apps since I do not have google or FB accounts anymore??

My iPad 2 is still on 7.1.2, I wasn't going to upgrade to 8 because its supposed to run horribly on the iPad 2, but now I'm tempted. Would you guys in my shoes ?.

I wouldn't. I went from iOS 6 to iOS 8 and it is terrible. Completely unusable... I am not happy about it. On the other hand, on my iPhone 5S, it is very nice!

Sure I'll put a dubious warranty killing, potential phone bricking software on an £800 phone. What for, to make my phone look prettier or have a few more tricks? No thanks. What guarantees are there there's no hidden code mining my data?

I'm steering clear.

Don't worry, you're safe. You just an ordinary citizen.

What a mess this turned out to be. I jailbroke my iPhone 6 last night, went easy enough. When i launched Cydia, it got stuck for like 15 minutes on the screen, so I killed the app and relaunched it. When it finished, my normal apps (phone, text, etc) wouldnt launch anymore; so I reset my phone, and when it came back, those apps along with safari, SETTINGS, etc were M.I.A. Completely gone. So I tried to restore my phone, but iTunes said I had to turn off Find My Iphone on my phone, BUT THE SETTINGS APP WAS COMPLETELY GONE!!!

So as a last freaking resort because I panicked, I went and did a remote wipe on iCloud, and now my iMessage wont activate. I've tried everything. Apparently it is locked up until 24 hours have passed.

I'll never do this again...

Cool story bro.

Free advice: RTFM FTW.

So far so good!

MyWi, My 3G are up and running. Just need icaughtya up and I'll be good to go.

currently no BTC Mouse & Trackpad support...

I love to jailbreak and add BTC Mouse and Keyboard. With a bluetooth mouse and an external keyboard, I can turn my iPhone into a really functional desktop replacement.

:( BTC Mouse & Trackpad developer, Matthias Ringwald, posted the following on his YouTube channel on 11/3 regarding iOS 8 support: "I didn't work (resp. didn't find time to work) on iOS JB extensions since releasing of the iOS 7 updates in January. I don't know yet if/when I will make updates for iOS 8 - right now I only have a single test device with iOS 8 but no JB on it. If I support iOS 8, BTC Mouse & Trackpad will be the first one as it is still popular and there is no other solution."

I see BT Stack listed in the Active List as compatible (why is BTC Mouse & Trackpad not listed?), but to my understanding that doesn't support a simultaneous BT keyboard and mouse connection (can anyone confirm this?).

With Apple venturing further into the Enterprise market and if rumors of an iPad Pro are true, I would think the push for them to add a full Bluetooth stack to iOS is inevitable (especially from their Enterprise customers). There's already been a huge demand in the consumer market since the original iPad. Using Office and remote desktop apps without a mouse is daunting in my opinion and touch just isn't ideal for a network admin to use during a remote session into a server on the fly.

Howdy-I can definitely confirm btc m&t works with the 6+. I do have issues occasionally in which my scroll wheel stops working in Safari. I should email the developer to beta test. I've got a lot of jail broken devices, and literally the only tweak they see is m&t. I truly hope Apple adds support for mice, as jail breaking will no longer be necessary for me!

Confirmed on my 8.1-based iPhone 5. It (latest (1.6-1), officially purchased, that is, non-cracked version) peacefully coexists and co-works with

- A2DP BT audio streaming and
- BT keyboard connection to an Apple BT keyboard (latest-gen with the two AAA batteries)

at the same time. Tested with the Logitech M-RCQ142. GREAT!

I really want to update my ios7 jailbroken iPad 3 to iOS 8, but DisplayOut by ryan petrich hasn't been updated for iOS 8 yet and judging by how long he took to update it the last time, it looks like I'll be in for a very long wait again as it seems of all his tweaks its one of the ones with the least priority :(

Thank you both @pdaholic and @Menneisyys2 for confirming! Can you tell me, had you both purchased BT m&t prior to 8.x or did you purchase after pangu's latest jailbreak? I ask because I had purchased the keyboard and mouse individual BT stack apps back in the day of iOS 5 and 6, but never BT m&t. When I jailbroke with Pangu's first 8.x jailbreak that was cydia compatible it wouldn't let me purchase apps, so wondering if I jailbreak now and have to purchase the app will it work to install?
