It's NOT dangerous if you don't install cr@p / cracked DEB's / cracked IPA's.

Yeah, right. Convince yourself all day long, why not. The point is, if you have a JB device and install something like WireLurker, you will be in much worse shape than on a non-JB device. Fact.

If you JB and don't get regular security updates, you are also more at risk. Fact.

But why not put your fingers in your ears and go La-La-La. I'm happy for you if you want to play with your device and rummage around. Just don't try to convince me it's less risky than having a non-JB phone.

I only jailbreak because of Activator as it allows me to use volume buttons to skip tracks on music player. If an app like Activator was available in the Apple App Store then I wouldn't need to jailbreak.

Finally!!!! Super excited! Back to contact pictures in my text messages, along with custom backgrounds and chat bubbles, and unlimited skips in Pandora and commercial free iTunes Radio!

----------

Your post is full of inaccuracies. It does not void your warranty, restoring returns the phone to factory settings. Jailbreaking can not "brick" the device. The tweaks available enhance the overall experience. Nobody from Pangu is collecting data from you, you're not that important.

/scene

So much ignorance out there!

----------

The ONLY thing I want is pictures in messaging threads. They only allow it for iPhone 6+. So stupid.

Anyone know if Copic or cyntact work okay?

If those don't maybe Messages Customiser does?

I tried to jailbreak this weekend and figured out it's a bunch of crap. I reset my iPad to original settings quickly enough. Cydia is full of crap apps which are full of advertising's and wasn't worth it for me.

Reasons to Jailbreak:

I only needed two:

PandoraSkips
iTunes Radio Unlimited

No commercials and unlimited skips for music. I'll tell you, when I workout, those commercials and not being able to skip past a bad song just kills me. As long as these tweaks exist, I will always jailbreak!

Until Apple incorporates something like f.lux into iOS, jailbreaking is a necessity. After installing f.lux on my Mac/iPhone/iPad I can never go back.

BTC Mouse & Trackpad?

I jailbroke my iPad Air 2 with Pangu when the first iteration of this was released and Cydia could be installed. Very easy process with no issues.

However, found out quickly that purchases at that time could not be done through Cydia (has this been fixed as well?) and BTC Mouse & Trackpad was not iOS 8.x compatible. Quickly restored my device as this is the ONLY reason I would want to jailbreak at this point as using remote desktop and MS Office apps on an iPad are otherwise tedious. Aside from that, iOS has developed to the point where I don't need any more customization options.

I see that BT Stack is in the compatibility list for 8.0 and 8.1, but does anyone know about BTC Mouse & Trackpad yet in light of Pangu's latest updates? Would like to be able to use a BT mouse AND keyboard at the same time.

Jailbreaking is awesome. With this you basically "own" your iPhone and add themes, tweaks, effects, add more functionality and stuff to make it your own "personal" iPhone. Many people enjoy Android because of its customization abilities.

The average person wouldn't do it, but tinkers like myself will. I mean seriously Eclipse 2 makes iOS look way better than having white tint everywhere. There are rough edges but still worth it.

The whole point about wirelurker is that it doesnt require a jailbreak though. It used an enterprise certificate. It was legitimate application as far as apple's process is concerned, before the certificate was revoked a day or two ago.

there are great jailbreak tools for paranoid people like firewall ip7, that lets you accept/deny EVERY connection in and out of your iphone. You can even deny apple connections.

That is worth it alone.

I also use an adblocker for Safari and apps. I had discovered that untrusted host blocker didn't block Youtube ads so I had to add another mod for that but it all works as I hoped now.

Some apps like my local news app forced you to view the same ad over and over again for each and every video on their site. My adblocker got rid of that and made the app useful. People on the reviews for that app actually called it the auto nation app because the ads were so bad.

What a mess

What a mess this turned out to be. I jailbroke my iPhone 6 last night, went easy enough. When i launched Cydia, it got stuck for like 15 minutes on the screen, so I killed the app and relaunched it. When it finished, my normal apps (phone, text, etc) wouldnt launch anymore; so I reset my phone, and when it came back, those apps along with safari, SETTINGS, etc were M.I.A. Completely gone. So I tried to restore my phone, but iTunes said I had to turn off Find My Iphone on my phone, BUT THE SETTINGS APP WAS COMPLETELY GONE!!!

So as a last freaking resort because I panicked, I went and did a remote wipe on iCloud, and now my iMessage wont activate. I've tried everything. Apparently it is locked up until 24 hours have passed.

I'll never do this again...

I guess you didn't read anywhere else (like idownloadblog dot com) for Detailed info and step by step instructions.

When you first launch Cydia, it is Preparing Files and WILL Take Some Time. This is a well known thing in the JB world and that the info is all over the web.

Been Very Stable for me for a while now.

Jailbreak Tweaks Document List here (legit) and can email the guy Adam if you know about one working or not.

Yeah just watch the thousands of videos on how to jailbreak your iPhone on iOS 8. I'm not sure how harder it can get. You probably interfered with the jailbreak somehow, maybe during the jailbreaking process. Maybe a bad lightning cable, or it was loose, anything like that can mess it up.

As the others have pointed out, you should have spent some minutes on reading / watching some tutorial before JB'ing.

Honestly I barely jailbroke my 4S yesterday and I'm just so happy using iOS 8 now. Eclipse 2, literally makes iOS look sick lol

I currently have the night theme on but there's other colors to choose from.

The whole point is that once attached to your iDevice, it did more damage if it happened to be a jail-broken one.

There was an SSL fix for jailbroken iPhones available about a week before Apple released 7.0.6
Also, folks with older devices who are worried about their devices being slowed down by major updates regularly get the same security updates that Apple distributes through Cydia :)
