Applestore UK...again
I'll do it. I dont mind writing a letter of complaint to Jobs et al in Cupertino - somebody should let them know just how bad the European arm of the company is at customer service and logistics. As an example - I run a magazine and use Apple equipment extensively in my operation. I own a G5, 3 G4s and 2 Powerbooks, 3 Apple screens, plus lots more. This year alone I have spent some £7000 directly with AppleStore UK - and that doesn't include personal stuff like an iPod, iSight etc. On top of this I've spent as much again this year on software to support the platform. My first purchase earlier this year (12" Powerbook + stuff) was delayed in delivery for various spurious reasons - my FCP4, purchased this August didnt turn up for two weeks from delivery note - my G5 delivery was a nightmare of chasing various logistics companies around Europe - spending countless hours and money on the phone trying to find out when the machne would actually arrive. It seems that regardless of where you live in the EU, Apple ship via Luxembourg and the Netherlands - in my case, the G5 was sent to a depot at Heathrow from Ireland, it was then sent to the Netherlands, then to Luxembourg, then back to the Netherlands, before finally arriving on my door step 12 days after the shipment note. In that time, nobody at Apple knew where the packages actually where - TNT/Kuhne & Nagel just put me back to Apple and the whole thing was a nightmare. Now this debacle with Panther. Even the editorial in the last MacUser UK mentioned the poor logistics that Apple employ on this side of the pond. All this and they simply ignore emails of complaint - I know, I've sent a few over the last year - one even took them three weeks to reply to - and then it was just to say can you send it again as we've had an email problem!! Something has to be said and done about this. We all love Apple and its innovation - but this lack of service is galling to say the least - I know of no other company in the tech sector that has this kind of reputation in UK/Europe. Rant over.
