If it doesn't turn up this morning I'm sending this...

Dear Sir,

I ordered my copy of OS 10.3 panther the day it was announced but seemingly this is not enough notice for the Applestore to ensure that it was delivered by the 24th October. Your website quite clearly stated that customers should expect delivery by the evening of the 24th. Clearly you have failed to live up to those expectations.

I know from online discussion boards that I am not the only UK customer to have been mislead by the European Applestore. All of us may as well have gone to a reseller this morning and bought it from them. The next time the opportunity of pre-ordering anything from the Applestore arises I will ignore it and go to a reseller.

Thank you you for having let a lot of people down. Again Apple's European customers have been treated as second class customers compared to their US cousins.

There's a double 'you' there, and also, try rearranging this sentence, as sarcasm isn't the right approach - it will bring no sympathy to your cause, only annoyance.

Otherwise, good idea!

Saturday post been and gone and Panther is as elusive as the beast of Bodmin Moor!

Really annoyed as there is a Panther event at an apple centre 10 miles from here. And there I was yesterday like a little boy watching at the window!

Mine shipped on Wednesday too.

Does anybody think Apple will actually refund you because of this (ie, if we were to go to a reseller NOW and get a copy)?

I guess they'll just say "well you could've waited."

How about this?

I feel you have let a lot of people down. Once again Apple's European customers have been treated as second class customers compared to their US cousins.

Panther

We are going to be ordering 700 copies of panther soon so you would think that our Apple rep would of rushed us a copy - nope, we are still using the beta's.

The AMP on our servers hasnt helped either.

Perhaps they could send us a free T-shirt or dog tags or something seeing as how they've screwed this up????

Yeah, great idea. They'll send them next week... we'll get them.. when? 2005?

Couple of things. We are all a little frustrated by Apple UK's service, and a lot of people agree that an 'en-mass' show of dissappointment might be a good thing. How about a petition? http://www.petitiononline.com/ is a good starting point, and no, I am not writing the thing! But I will certainly sign one.

Secondly, some of you have said that you are getting notice of a 10 day delay. I chased Apple via phone on Friday 10th regarding my 15.2" PB, and was told it would ship on or after the 24th. Then would take 15 working days to arrive. Nice. I then found it had shipped on the 10th via the order status screen. It was BTO by the way. Expected shipping was 10 working days. On the 14th, Tuesday, I got an email from Apple telling me that there would be a 10 working day delay on top of any shipping times I already knew of, not pleased. I called Apple and they confirmed, saying that they were having supply problems, which I said made no sense as it has shipped. The guy just said there were lots of delays on the shippers side.

It arrived Friday 17th @ 2pm. They know nothing, I think you will find it is almost a standard e-mail now just to stop people hassling custoimer services!

Anyway, still waiting for the postman!

Marc

Still not received my copy - phoned the post office and they don't have anything there for me.

Off to uni tomorrow so may have to wait another week or so...:(

I'm not impressed.

I'm sure these will not come via Royal Mail. My order says shipped by Spring who are an international delivery company.

Their website is http://www.atspring.com/ which does not have anything useful like order tracking!

BTW Spring's caption is "reshaping global mail' which I guess means they kick the boxes around the depot before delivering them:D

spring have a phone number on their uk site - anyone rang it?

any complaint will probably fall on deaf ears at the uk apple store. i would like to complain to someone high up in the company (although steve probably wouldnt read it).

they should not be advertising things they know they cannot follow through -simple as that

Well Apple UK told me they were Royal Mail.

I called Spring... no one in the customer services until monday. He sounded flustered, like he'd had a LOT of calls! Maybe THEY'LL complain to Apple too!

this may be long and yea its australian based but goes to show just what apple really thinks outside the USA market

Ok, so someone at AU Apple has been working overtime this weekend, I received a notice that my order shipped today (Saturday) Maybe they have a back-log? Kind of odd..
Anyone get a delivery today?

-- As a side note, I was walking to work thismorning, and I went past the new Apple Store on Chapel Street hoping to stick my head in and see at least 1 or 2 people in there getting panther (and at a very long shot pick up some dog tags)... They weren't even OPEN! (this is at 10am) .. So my opinion of Apple Aus has just bottomed out.. Major new release, website with the countdown clock, and not a salesperson in sight an hour after it was supposed to go on sale.... Shame shame shame... (where's Derryn Hinch when you need him...

So, it's hit noon on saturday, and still no sign. I'm VERY annoyed about this.

See you all back here on monday?!

another disappointed Panther-less Brit'

Just to add another (disappointed) voice to the thread.

I also received my shipping notification on Wed and have NOT received my copy of Panther.

It's particularly disappointing compared to Jaguar - that arrived here (in North Scotland) a few hours before the official launch, sent by 'proper' courier not just chucked into Parcel Post - which, by the way is SLOWER than second class mail in the UK! BTW, Parcel Post will deliver on Sat morning only, no afternoon deliveries - so don't wait in!

I totally agree this is just Apple being cheap and shoddy. I could probably walk into my local John Lewis today and pick up a copy - or I could walk into PC World and deliberately not buy anything, I hate that store! :)

If a mass email, or other action, is planned - count me in!

sod this for a game of soldiers....12.29 and I'm now off to watch Bill Bailey, hope to come back less pi**ed off. Really tempted to refuse delievery when it finally turns up ....but gonna call them irish toss pots on monday, bet there'll be queue to get through. I'll keep you posted....must remember to be polite when I call.

Sorry should have pointed this out that post is credited too pjtro2 hes the one who posted it all i just quoted it from the australian version of this thread diffrence been at least the shops were open in the UK LOL god knows whats going on down here we dont get post on saturdays so we know we have to wait till monday or tueday were as back home in the uk i know we get post on saturdays so i am sure apple could have made an effort a real effort like they did for the USA ..

And nope i dont have Panther either not till i get my new eMac ...!!!
