Well I think Apple needs to stop making touch products for a little while, and do something with the Mac. Boring hardware releases. OMG a Entry C2D for $1199, OSX needs some new things. iLife and iWork need a refresh.

It just hit me how bad that is. I just bought a Vaio with an i5 32nm processor for around $800, and there was no way that I would have settle for a Core 2 even if it was cheaper, much less starting at $1,199. I rather have the cooler running i5. But before, I never gave it much thought that Apple was selling Core 2 duos, but now it's like, WOW, for $1,199.

Edit: I just checked, the cheapest Core 2 Duo mac is for $999. Still insane.
Edit again: When I click buy, the cheapest is $1,199. That's weird. Weaker graphics card, weaker CPU, smaller hard drive, smaller screen, $400 extra.

Since you point to Walmart; I will ask you question;
How many products do Walmart sell in comparison with apple?
How many stores do Walmart have?
How many employees do Walmart have in comparison with apple? And if Walmart have the same apple policy for recruiting will their service affected??
All of your questions are irrelevant concerning ROI from an investor perspective.

that's fine - was just asking how we were messuring it. Besides, my comparision of WMT to AAPL really isn't apples to apples (crap, that was an unintentional pun). There's just no need to compare their CEO's to Apples... it's a different company so different set of rules.
Well, you asked how I was measuring it. You have my answer.

It is perfectly valid for me to compare Walmart's CEO against Apple's CEO when talking about investments. Companies are judged by the way the senior management team executes a business plan. CEOs get sacked for failing (e.g., Carly Fiorina at HP). The rules are basically the same. Wall Street likes to see increases in shareholder value. They like fat margins. They don't like debt. They like growth.

This place is so ridiculously full of trolls and/or idiots it's becoming a detriment to this website as a whole.

People claim he's out because of the antenna. Then facts come out saying the antenna's been tested for 2 years and that he hasn't even been a part of the iPhone 4 launch AT ALL, but people still go, "See!? It proves it! He's out because of the antenna!"

Really!?!? REALLY!?!?! Are so many of you so absolutely idiotic that you believe that all this story does is prove he's out because of the antenna!??!?!!? To quote Will Ferrell's character in "Zoolander" I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

The fact is Apple thought (and still thinks) there was nothing wrong with the antenna and since this man wasn't even a part of the iPhone 4's launch, he was due to be out of the company regardless of the iPhone 4. As the facts state, he just wasn't compatible with the culture of the company.

It's amazing how many people can twist that to say that it proves he's out because of the totally overblown antenna issue. I mean customer surveys are showing that people drop fewer calls with their iPhone 4 than with their 3GSs, but no one wants to hear the truth of peoples' actual experiences with their iPhone 4s. It's a lot more fun to make up stories.

Grow the f up peeps.

I want a notebook with a C2D. And not the MacBook, it doesn't have a backlit keyboard or durable casing.

A durable casing? The white macbook is a beast for durability. It doesn't look as nice as the alu MBP's but, it'll last for ever. I've got a alu MBP and my old macbook, which my wife still uses is looking as good as ever, and it's a first gen., which was used every day at work by me for 2.5 yrs...

Backlit keyboard... It's nice but how often are you working in the dark and can't see the keyboard from the screen?

Ok.

I just got an iphone 4 today and i can not replicate the issue or make it drop down in bars. By far it has better reception than the 3GS that would drop in and out of service, now i have nearly full bars.

Why not? I bought my iPhone 4 on day 1, reserved and then waited in line 5 hours for it. To this day have not been able to replicate the antenna issue. I believe it exists for some people, but not for me.

my iPhone 4 32GB has been an awesome phone, I have zero complaints.

I also upgraded from a 3Gs and haven't had any problems with the iPhone 4 antenna. It's on par with the 3Gs, if not better. But then again I use a case on the iPhone 4. Honestly, I think this antennagate is insanely overblown.
iPhone 4 since June 24th - no reception problems whatsoever.

In fact, when I place my finger on the 'gap,' the reception increases by a bar or two.

Overall, the signal seems more robust having an external antenna - I've been getting more bars than associates do with their 3GSs.

Best phone I've ever owned, by far.

What kind of last name is Papermaster???. Hello people!!!
It is probably one that is derived from an occupation, like Smith or Farmer, most likely something from the publishing industry. While Papermaster might not be a very common surname, you should realize that there are a wide variety of surnames in varying frequencies.

Having a commonplace surname does not confer any sort of superiority. If it did, you should really keep your mouth shut if your surname isn't Chan, Chang, Liu, etc.

This thread is going to turn into business class; LOoL :D
I may agree with you, but how could Walmart expand without falling into debt?
Their stores are 100 times bigger than apple stores. Keeping this Mega stores running means; you have to spend a lot of expenditure. The Walmart asset value is numerous.
You may have your prospective, since you buy and sell stock. but Managing Mega market is like managing technology.

Last, Walmart have branches all over the world; in comparison with apple whose stores are limited outside US and they rely on distributers who supply unofficial apple stores with apple products.

The main point is Don't compare SJ with other CEO's, since they have different prospective and scope.

Simple question:

What's Walmart's profit margin?

I seriously don't know what the commotion is about the iphone4 having antena issues. It works perfectly fine. I get an average of 4-5 bars hand-held without a case and not seeing dropped bars. I think people are blowing this way out of proportion.

You're probably right.

Come October, when Apple announces quarterly results, we will know for sure. There is no indication of increased iPhone returns nor decreased sales. Apple's manufacturing partners are apparently unable to supply enough units to keep up with demand. That will likely be the limiting factor in terms of Apple's revenue.

People here can speculate all they want, but the doomcriers will have to shut their mouths about this issue if Apple has another blockbuster quarter and delivers more bulky sacks of money to their shareholders.

Of course; they not charging double like apple do for their hardware!, Their margin should be far far less, I believe Cvaldes has answer your question precisely. So I do not have to guess.

What should be the story here is that his last name is PAPERMASTER!!!!!!

why he is not working for dunder mifflin boggles my mind~~~~!!!!!!

I love Apple's overall philosophy as much as the next person. But the phrase 'cultural incompatibility' sounds and feels weird to me. A bit too 1984-ish for my liking...

One theory is the lost prototype in the bar that went on Gizmodo. Another is to beat out competitive smartphones being released.

Apple has released all its phones around the same time of the year, just as the iPhone 4, why do people claim there has been a rush at all?

To beat out the competition? The iPhone was lacking behind featurewise already for a good while .. no need to rush it there. And with the Gizmodo story .. I think people tend to over-interpret that situation. It was bad for Apples PR, but damage was long done at this point. I mean they still took their time before they came out with their presentation, it is not like they held a rushed press conference the next day or something. And finally .. it takes years of engineering and testing and prototyping to develop such a complex device/design. A few weeks give and take are completely meaningless at this point. But I guess it is just nice to have somebody to blame it on .. and these ruthless guys from Gawker are just about right for that.

Ah. So Tim Cook should also be fired and Woz return to Apple as Papermaster's replacement?

Well. Now that I think about it. I wouldn't mind Woz returning to Apple... when he brings Fusion-IO support for OS X.

To me it sounds a lot like he and Mr. Jobs didn't get along very well ..

Maybe if Walmart raised their prices, they wouldn't be so deeply in debt.

Remember, debt is spending more than you earn. Perhaps Walmart should expand at a more prudent pace. After all, Apple builds new Apple Stores without going into debt.

People who haven't bought one yet are seriously missing out. I haven't had a better phone. The screen and resolution is amazing and looks beautiful. Actually the reception is the best I've ever had out of all my past cell phones. And the battery is great! I play with a lot of apps all day and usually charge every other day. That's a major improvement from my past phones.
