uhhh, no. Windows 11 didn't auto install at some point a few months ago. That's not even remotely possible.

All that sentence tells me is that you have no experience or idea about Parallels and Windows on Arm :)
All Windows ARM builds run on the insider rings and while it did not "auto install", it did show up on Windows Update where I had to click update and it updated to Windows 11 insider builds without issue.

1. Windows 11 needs that special chip. You can download a copy of Windows 11 that will work without the chip, however you need a Windows machine to download the ISO.

2. It should be possible to install Windows 11 on Virtual Box, if you can download a copy of Windows 11 that does not check for the chip.

I played with 11, and my opinion:

"Like Windows 10, but rounded corners"

(Plus, there's still some Windows 1.01 junk laying around too)
And if you avoid this:

The company confirmed previous reports that the latest Windows version has compatibility issues with the Oracle VirtualBox virtualization software where customers might be unable to start their Virtual machines (VMs) and might receive an error.

"Microsoft and Oracle have found a compatibility issue between VirtualBox and Windows 11, when Hyper-V or Windows Hypervisor is installed," Redmond explained.

Oh sorry lol! I had Win10 installed and it auto installed Win11 at some point a few months ago. I’ve now got the stable version running and it’s also activated - runs well. Did you try the installer for Windows that Parallels comes with it? Hope you’ve got the right ISO.
I downloaded it direct from the Microsoft site while running Win10 in parallels. I made sure to download the ISO, (that's now on a USB stick), which specifically allows a clean install on a new or machine previously running Win10.
I was under the impression that upon installing PD17.1 that the VM would pass the TPM check and installation was straight forward.

I'll have to check Parallels forums.

You can't install Hyper-V on MacOS.

Someone who questions whether your OS upgrade auto-installed (which it did not) is not "inexperienced".

Windows 11 21H2 (22000.x) on a VM does not need the chip.

Windows 11 22H1 (224xx builds) apparently will, though.

It came up on Windows Update, installed on its own and then asked me if I wanted to reboot my machine to install updates. I actually didn’t really press a button to say I opt in for Windows 11 - it just downloaded it. When I rebooted my machine, I had Windows 11 insider preview, which ran really slow on Parallels 16.5. It only started being smooth on 17.0 and onwards.
So it did auto install in the sense that I had no choice in the matter. It did not auto install in the sense that I had to reboot the VM to install “updates”.

I’m sure others will be able to tell you of that exact same experience. I’m done trying to argue with strangers :)

EDIT:

Ok, it's because I had Windows installed in Legacy mode.

You can also check in the VM settings to see if your vTPM is enabled.
Strangely enough, it's even more complex than that.
I have done a very recent back up and will need to call on it. I'm wondering now if I need Pro/Business edition as 'secure boot' is not appearing as an option in hardware settings.

Surprised there isn't a KB doc outlining what you require/have to do.

The money still goes back to Germany. And those cars likely aren't built by Union labor.
What money?
What they pay the employees most certainly doesn't and neither does the cost of anything those employes buy. Nor the cost of running the factories.
What proportion are you talking?

I need just one program in windows, and even now it still runs in virtual box in xp on my old 2013 MBP. I AM NOT PAYING THEM 80 BUCKS A YEAR JUST TO USE WINDOWS. I can get a cheap PC to do that for about $80 once.

What a rip off! I hate these damn subscriptions for everything.

Then buy the one-off licence

PS. Your caps lock seems to be a bit sticky...

So use VirtualBox, then?

There's a non-subscription option.

Isn't Win11 EULA state explicit use for OEM only? So, installing it on a VM is a violation of the EULA?
Parallels also leaves the license compliance to the end user, hence they are aware about the issue. Not sure if I want to pay someone knowingly violating s/w license laws.

I think it's a case where Microsoft knows it's happening, and is allowing it to happen. I think another ARM chip vendor has exclusive rights to allow Windows to be used on their chips, and the contract might be expiring soon. Wouldn't half surprise me if Microsoft wants people to run Windows 11 on the M1 so they can collect information on how to make it run better.

No

You use the latest version of Parallels and install the non-insider program version of Windows. You can then licence it.

Anyone that needs that and primarily runs a Mac just needs to have a PC as well.

I use a Mac as my primary computer. I have a PC at work on my back desk. I use jump desktop RDP from my Mac when I need to do something like use Actuve Directory users and computers.

I can’t remember the last time I actually logged into the PC using its keyboard and mouse.

In late 2021 I do not understand the need to run Windows on a Mac??? Everything you need has been ported long ago, is web based, or has a fantastic alternative.

Windows is a total train wreck right now and Windows 11 is even worse. 3 new printer security issues reported this morning
do you know anything similar to parallels or vmw just for printing , i dont need a windows installation. Because my printer is not compatible with mac so i need it for this purpose only

I just upgrade to the PD18, and install the windows 11 Pro at the Microsoft partner online store keyingo, everything is working well without any problem , I really like the new edition !
