...<car related twuntishness>...

You twunt. People who pull that sort of crap piss me off. Personally I hope you don't get towed, I hope you get clamped, 'cause clamped sports cars are funny and attract vandals :D

My oral surgeon parks in handicapped spots too without a permit He drives a 99,000 base price BMW M6.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't double-parking generally considered illegal? I thought the only time it was ok is when valet people double-park in parking lots to pack in more cars (but they have the keys to move things around if needed).

In any case, we shake our fists at people like you (assuming you're actually serious). It's extremely inconsiderate to do what you're doing--especially if you're parking in a busy lot. If you're really concerned about getting dings park out in the boondocks of the lot where no one else parks. I'm sure a couple more minutes of walking to whatever building you're going to wouldn't kill you.

If given the opportunity with a car like that, in a parking moderately full parking lot taking up two spaces anywhere close to the door, I will park my vehicle about 2 inches from the driver's side door. If I have a friend anywhere near, expect the passenger door to receive the same treatment. Might even be tempted to call the wife to pick us up and leave our cars there for a day or two...

We didn't vandalize, and as long as his/her parking wasn't a tow-able offense, neither is ours.

The desire to do this declines as the distance from the entrance to the building increases, and the value of the car goes up. Any vehicle under $50 000 should not do this at all since it only draws attention to a car that doesn't deserve it...

Now cars parked in handicapped spaces are a completely different matter. And the more expensive the car the more likely I am to call the police and have it towed...

I don't think I've ever witnessed this kind of thing in my life. If I did I'd be pretty annoyed at the driver and though I wouldn't do anything to the car myself, I certainly wouldn't object to others inflicting some kind of damage.

If you're that worried about your precious car, get an insurance policy that will cover you for that kind of damage - there's no need to inflict your selfishness on others.

don't.

no seriously, don't.

some wiener in a porsche did this in a very busy parking lot while most of us struggled to find a spot. while my friend parked the car, I got out and put little pebbles in the air valve of those tires and loosely screwed the cap back in.... slowly letting the air out.
You see, while it may not be outright damaging to park like a jackass, it is very rude and very annoying, and so is letting the air out of someone's tires. Tit for tat. They're lucky, a lot of times people get keyed for that sort of crap.

Moral of the story, if you don't want your stuff screwed with then don't be a dick.

Lately I've been parking my Firebird diagonally, as to take up two parking spots. I'm planning on doing this in my high school's parking lot as well. What I'm wondering is... can my car be towed away for parking diagonally/taking up two spots? Secondly, friends tell me that other students won't take well to it and will either purposely open their doors on my car, key it etc.

Any advice/input?

Thanks

Two things.

One, don't park like a jerk. If you're worried about dings, then park farther away, possibly in the area where no one parks in the lot (idk if you're school has one of those, mine does).

Two. I was curious as to what year your Firebird is. And how much cash you spent on it, if you don't mind me asking.

Wow, so I was at the mall today and I saw an old crappy Ford Escort with missing hubcaps diagonally parked. The teenage driver was getting into his car and I mumbled "you're retarded". I think he heard me.

I think you all scared him away...

If I saw someone do this, I would probably siphon their gas. If I needed gas. And had access to a siphon.

Bonus: they would probably have it filled with premium, too :D

whats funny about this is that there are people who think owning a Firebird is a good thing.

Hahahaha.

But seriously, don't be a jerk and don't take up two spots... The firebirds aren't really that fly, and if you're worried about it get to school early and get a corner spot and park your car closes to the line/curb so whoever parks next to you has plenty of space to open there door.

Pebbles in the air valve. Excellent idea. I will have to seal it.

First of all why would you drive a nice firebird to school, (assuming its a nice one), leave it home. Second why do you need a firebird in HS in the first place. If I saw your car parked in 2 spots, first it would get scratched then it would get reported.:D

Parking's hard enough to come by in some places without people like you being inconsiderate and taking up 2 places.

If I ever do have the fortune to come across someone who's done that, rest assured I'll be boxing them in. ;)

Gah please don't be another one of those tools that do that!!!!!!

Whenever i see people do that in their schmaltzy cars I have an intense urge to ram my car into theirs and drive off! Though I'd say your car will likely get spat on, urinated upon, and probably keyed in a high school lot :p

Just find a nice drunk high school girl to drive home and parking diagonally will be the last of your worries.:p Hope ya got scotchgaurd.

like others have been saying double parking is an ******* thing to do. It is just asking for your car to get vandilized.
Cars that double park tick me off. what is worse is they always double park in the good parking spots. If you want to keep your car protected park in no man land and walk.
As for people who double park I have park right new to there car so close they could not get in their driver side door. What made it really funny is I was gone for about 10 mins come back and see the guy trying to figure out how to get in his car. Starting to climb in the passager seat. He yells at me "what are you expecting me to do" my answer was straight forward and direct. "don't double park. If you noticed I am completely in my parking spot. It was a tight fit.

Really it a jerk thing to do.
Now there are times I have double to even quadruple parked but A) parking lot is pretty much empty. and B) I was only running into the school to grab something so my parking job was just me being really really lazy.
