I tried for the 3rd time last night to pick up one last phone and was denied. First time they wanted ID verification, we faxed them what they wanted and were told we're good to go. 2nd time, VZW said there were too many lines on our account; closed all of the sub accounts and were told we were good to go. Last night they said we can only add lines at a Verizon store. I'm not giving up if this is still do-able.

UDP for Life..is a drug

Just reading threads like this is a thrill ride for me..reading all the twists and turns of people pulling off AOL's..or upgrades..or adding UDP lines. I'm standing on the sidelines saying internally "Go guys go!"... Keep that UDP dream alive. :D

I called AOL, the rep (who sounded like a veteran) said AOL for UDP is OVER. No Mas.

Well, we know that's the policy.

What I think we're waiting to hear are one of the following

Is it a computer change or just a policy change? If only policy change, it will be YMMV where a rep will do it for you

Any loopholes to get it done?

that's why the recipient should be one of us, can see what resistance you get from the receiving end.
I think AOL is fine, just put it up for the recipient.
It's how you talk or navigate getting the line with the AOL dept.
Most people who have never done this, have no clue how to navigate through that.

Can you return a phone that's within a the return window if it's been AOL'd to another person. Will that line drop from their account?

I've been told yes by 3 CSR's through this whole process, but I wouldn't trust it...

I just wanted to make sure as I want the business to try and see if it takes it with the unlimited data intact. If it doesn't show in his account with unlimited data I was going to return the phone.

I believe you can keep the line but return the phone after 14 days. Apple still allows returns for 30 days if i'm not mistaken.

nope. 14 days to return to apple. but I think you can still keep the line. I'm sure verizon doesn't mind collecting a monthly fee from you and not having to pay the phone subsidy. win win for them

the line stayed... for a few days, it may fall off after you return the phone.... but if you dont actively go after it, verizon may just let it sit.... or if you put another device on it.... maybe it may just stick

tim, didieephone at the biggest search engine company dot com. my account is a little bloated....

I think that's your best option. put a different device on the line

Is Jules some disgruntled x Verizon agent?
hahahahahaha, no! But I do hate the Verizon corporate store employees!!

In general though, the cell phone companies have an oligopoly on what has now become a necessity of life in the modern world. And I am stuck with Verizon due to my UDP which I can't get anywhere else now. So it's frustrating to me when they implement policies like taking away UDP subsidized upgrades!

I was grateful when I found the threads on AC teaching me how to beat their system but then the effers put the new policy in place back in August and I got mad again, lol! Actually by helping people out on SDs thread we were able to come up with a lot of different methods when people either were willing to try something new or they just screwed up a known method and it happened to work!

I think the wiki on SD is pretty self explanatory but apparently many people don't or are just lacking in reading comp skills idk. Some are just too lazy to read it I am sure but some I am sure can't even understand step by step instructions. Anyhow, I am going to revise the wiki over there but not answer too many questions b/c it is the same questions over and over again pretty much.

I guess it is just fun for me to help people stick it to Verizon when Verizon is always trying to stick it to us UDPers!

I don't see how it would cancel the line if the line is now in a different account. But if they AOL it back to you and this is all accomplished w/in 3 days I am sure you could return the phone to apple and get the line canceled. It may take a few phone calls but if they see the phone is returned w/in 3 days they have to cancel the line with no fees.

You could do it up to 14 days but if it is after 3 days you would have to pay the activation fee. Although if you never activate the phone on the line maybe not.

Since t-mobile offers 15$ a month plan we can buy more iphones and port new lines into t-mobile up to five lines trade in some cheap verizon phones buy some cheap t-mobile phones and month later we get etf gift cards.

Somebody here is attempting an AOL, so we shall know soon how possible it is :apple::apple::apple:  :p :D:D:D

^some cnotes love there

Can someone explain why it's against the board rules to request a line, no one is buying/selling anything it's just 2 people helping each other out.
Because they say so.

I think in general they don't want people doing that b/c then it can overtake the thread and obscure the real topic of the thread. Think about what would have happened here if it would have been allowed? That is all this thread would have been about - people posting they had lines to give away and every time someone posted asking for a line they would have gotten 15 people posting to them, take mine, take mine!!!

Posts on the actual topic of the thread would have been buried by all of that line trading and people would have left the thread.

Am I allowed to ask for one, getting the last minute itch for 1 more udp and vzw won't allow me to get any more phones.
PM the usual suspects, I am sure they have lines available. And Howard Forums has a thread on lines where you can probably get one.

I suspect the Apple glitch isn't going away any time soon so if it is for personal use you can probably get one yourself eventually.
