My phone hasn't shipped yet :( I waited to order until late night on Cyber Monday and from what I have read, they ship on Tuesdays from the Chinese factory. So if you ordered early in the day your phone shipped last Tuesday, but for mine it won't ship until this Tuesday. Supposedly you get them by Friday of the week they ship.

I should have just ordered earlier in the day on Cyber Monday but I was hesitant b/c the bootloader is not unlockable and all of the devs seem to have given up on rooting Motorola phones since you can get the Moto X Pure Edition for GSM carriers and the Nexus 6 even on Verizon and Sprint. It is a lot of effort for them to put in for only the relatively small number of Verizon Moto X owners.

Now that Lenovo owns Motorola, they shut down the BL unlock code sellers but I did read where some unlocked Moto X's showed up on Tao Bao leaked from the factory when they weren't supposed to have been. We can only hope that they can get the unlock codes the same way, lol!! Seems funny for me to be wishing for a security breach at the Chinese Moto X factory but I am!!!

I'm on my Nexus right now, jealous aren't you :). I think I'm going to get the fiance the Moto X with the coupon. I was hoping you'd get yours to see how you liked it.

The Nexus is huge!

Greetings,
New member... sent over from SD website thru Jules. No WIKI to read thru so asking for direction on where to read or advise.

Looking to add to UDP's to existing Verizon account. Have 5 lines, 2 with UDP, 1 TDP, and 2 with no data. All but UDP lines out of contract. Want to convert 2 non data lines to UDP if possible with purchase of new iphones.
Would also like to convert TDP line to UDP with new iphone purchase as well.

Thanks in advance.

The glitch of adding UDPs is long gone, sorry. :(

It is no longer possible to create a new UDP line through apple.com but if you want to buy a UDP line from someone, people are still getting UDP through assumption of liability. If you read through this thread a few pages back you will see how it is hit or miss and what works or what doesn't.

But you can't create a new UDP and get a subsidized phone anymore. You are about 1 month too late to that party AND it is not even guaranteed that you can successfully AOL a UDP line anymore.

To find UDP lines to buy, check out ebay and Howard Forums. Also on this site some people may still have UDPs to sell but you need to have 25 posts to PM people on this site and they don't allow you to sell lines on this thread so it has to be by PM. There are plenty of threads to post on if you are interested in getting your post count up.

Yeah, I AM!!! Everyone in my whole family has brand new phones courtesy of me but I don't!!!!

I think I'm going to get the fiance the Moto X with the coupon. I was hoping you'd get yours to see how you liked it.
I am sure I will love it but I will be broken hearted if someone doesn't figure out a way to get root. I doubt I will keep it very long, probably only a few months, if there is no way to root it.

I should have mine by either the 11th or 12th so I will report back when I get it. The coupon doesn't expire until the 15th.

The Nexus is huge!
I know! I was playing with one in the TMobile store for awhile. It is a GREAT phablet, but I don't know how it will be as my daily driver. The Moto X 2014 would be the perfect daily driver for me if only it can be rooted (and preferably unlocked too but I will settle for root).

I know this is an Apple site but anyone interested in the first generation Moto X 2013, there is a guy selling Verizon developer edition Moto X 2013's for $220 on ebay brand new in sealed boxes. I don't think they have a manufacturer's warranty but for that price, who cares. You could buy a square trade warranty for $45 but I don't know if ST could replace the device with a developer edition as the dev eds aren't available on Motorola's website any longer.

I received a paypal offer for a $50 statement credit if I signed up for paypal credit and used it to buy something. So I signed up and bought one. If you click through mrrebates, ebates or fatwallet I think you get another 2% back. Works out to $166 for the phone with the statement credit and cash back. You had to get sent the $50 statement credit offer so if you didn't get the email in November about that, I don't think you can get it. Check your email and especially your spam folder to see if you got the offer from paypal.

It is a pretty good deal, no interest on purchases $99 or more for 6 months and none for 12 months on purchases $499 or more. More and more places are taking paypal so it is worth looking into. But like all of these deals, if you don't pay it off at the end of the interest free period, they tack on interest from the date of purchase at an outrageous rate.

The Moto X 2013 is a great phone for everything but taking pictures indoors. And if you pay for one of the camera apps, that can be fixed. So easy to unlock and root and then you WiFi tether for free, yipee!!!!! The touchless controls, moto assist and active display are wonderful. I can't say enough good things about this phone. I bought the one off of ebay as a back up device in case something happens to my current 1st generation Moto X 2013 and in case the new Moto X 2014 never gets rooted and the Nexus 6 ends up being too big for me to be my daily driver.

The Motorola radios really are the best! My year old Moto X 2013 is significantly faster than my mom's iP6+ during speed tests every time.

Update - on XDA another poster informed me that the motorola website doesn't recognize these phones for the BL unlock code but that if you email motorola, they get the phone unlocked for you. Also, sounds like motorola is honoring the warranty :D

So remember David Han the scammer? PayPal decided to rule in his favor today. Despite a long list of evidence showing his history and the legitimacy of the device that I sent him. I am officially never using PayPal again.

David Han strikes again. Just got an email from paypal about an unhappy Han. So I file a police report, report to USPS, get the phone blacklisted, request for return of phone, anything else I'm missing that can get the ruling in my favor ?

I would contact attorney where Han lives and see if he can file lawsuit against him. I wonder ig he is reselling phones and adds oncraigs list ? Look his phone number give him call.

Anybody want to file a joint claim against this guy? Just checked out his name online and someone reported him on the ripoff report site back in 2013. This guys been doing this for at least a year, getting free phones. Is it really this easy to steal from someone online.

There are lots of rippoff reports all those people need to report him to police.

I see there is law professor by that name ?

Maybe you should request that the iteam gets returned to paypal for inspection. Or pay for ups shipping label and pickup at his address. Go and talk to your local postal inspector and local police. You can call fbi, it seems there is large number of victims.

What is Han claiming? Is he claiming it is a blacklisted phone when it is not? Or is he claiming that no phone was in the box?

2 hours of the attorney's time is more than the phone is worth.

jdougal won his paypal case w/o hiring a lawyer.

Well if attorney can recover all the money people lost it could be worth while or reporting him to fbi. Say he scammed 10 folks that is 7000 or more

Yes but he can file charge-back with his credit card company

You have no concept at all as to how much money it costs to litigate.

As for the FBI, you have got to be kidding me. You would be lucky if you could get the cops in his city to investigate this. Best bet is the USPS IMO.

Hopefully jdougal will keep us all updated as to what happens.

File it in what court? The Anaheim court? Do you have the money to pay a lawyer there to litigate it or do you have the money to fly there to attend court hearings, etc.? The filing fee, service of process fee and 1 plane ticket are likely to cost more than the phone is worth.

also found this webite
http://www.stopfraud.gov/report.html

i would also try to find out which credit card company he files claims with as well. That information will be harder to find, but maybe another way to get someone else involved.

He apparently also sends a "track-able letter" to seller, claims that he send the iphone back to the seller. But the "iphone" gets lost during transit, since now the "iphone" is lost, so credit card company has to pay up too.

The address listed appears to be a mailbox store of some sort, maybe the employees are in on it too.

This is why we need to modernize the courts for the tech era. If "David Han" were running a storefront in Anaheim pulling this stunt, small claims court would be perfect. But since it's all online he's counting on no one doing anything in order for his scheme to work. Looking at the ripoff reports, it appears he is claiming that the IMEI is blacklisted, and then making it appear that he is shipping back the phone, when in reality he's just attaching an $8 shipping label with a tracking number to an envelope and mailing it back.

I agree the postal inspector is the most likely to actually investigate. If someone can figure out where he is re-selling the phones that would help, since if he's actually trying to sell them online the owner could alert that site, but chances are he is selling them on the street.

If the guy claims the phone got lost in mail people affected should request research by affected carriers.
We should send him bunch of stuff that will cost him money without our own address. Postage due or cod stuff. I wonder if his po box will charge him more for large items huge empty box ?
Someone should post his mailing address someone may go there and see who that person is.
Someone could find-out his real address from po box. Send him truck full cow manure

That's a pretty awesome deal on the Moto X 2013. I need to see if I have a statement credit email. Did it go to your ebay email or paypal?

Defiantly let me know your thoughts on the 2014. I'm 99% sure I'm going to buy it for her. I swear Ebates had cashback for Motorola.com then when I placed the order it appears to be gone. I'm sort of hoping that it comes back,or maybe I'm crazy and they didn't have it just last week.

I'm loving it as my daily driver, so much so the LG G3 is going to Swappa. I love lollipop as well. All around very happy with the experience.

----------

I finally won my PayPal case against him. They originally ruled in his favor, even after sending screenshots of the ripoff reports and talking to them on the phone. I called within the hour of them ruling in his favor and got it reversed. It didn't give him time to send me an empty letter.

They did have it last week on Monday when I placed my order but then I noticed it is gone now.

What the N6? Do you carry it when you do outdoor activities like jogging? That is a concern for me.

Can he still dispute the paypal charge with his credit card?

Damnit, I wasn't losing my mind then. Hopefully it comes back before the 15th.

I use my LG G Watch R that I just got for stuff like that. I carry it everywhere else with me.

I have no clue about the charge-back. I'm pissed that PayPal just ignored me telling them about the fraud and to shut him down.

My account is showing that I am due about $18 cash back for the Moto X + accessories. I think Motorola must have suspended cash back due to the sale, but hopefully it will come back. They probably meant to suspend it on Cyber Monday too but someone didn't do their job properly.

I have not gotten any emails about my order other then the order was received. Usually you get an email saying they are assembling your order :(

That's pretty ballsy of paypal as they are setting themselves up for a class action lawsuit if they won't even try to shut down repeat fraudsters when they are given all the info necessary to do it. I am sure that Han has gotten away with this before and that others weren't as persistent as you and lost out.

This is a hard pull to your credit report so keep that in mind if you are planning on refinancing a house, getting a mortgage, etc. in the near future.

Yea it was probably meant to be pulled earlier. I looked at Fatwallet etc but looks like its gone everywhere.

I agree with you about PayPal. Protecting the buyer is one thing, turning a blind eye to blatant fraud is another. I mean there are reports online all the way back to August 2013. The second and third time I spoke with PayPal I specifically mentioned the fraud and wanted it moved to the fraud department and have his account shut down. His address is confirmed, so its not like he's making new accounts. If he is they could easily track/end this guy.

Seems like I didn't get the $50 email. I believe I got them a long time ago but never really paid attention. Damn if I had it I'd buy the Moto off eBay for sure.

uh oh, Jules loses again :p

I wish Moto would have one of the accessories I wanted in stock for once. I really want the keylink or the powerpack with keylink built in. Both have been out of stock since being announced. What's the point of announcing and getting press on something you can't stock for the holidays?

Waaah! I will call and see what is up. I ordered leather so that may be the issue.

Ikr. I wanted those too! Actually the keylink was in stock the first day but I didn't order early enough to get one :(

I called and a very nice woman in India informed me that my phone that was manufactured/assembled in China has been exported! God Bless America!!!
