Nobody finds it suspicious that all iPhone 5C leaks have no "Designed in California" and FCC xxxx thing that all iPhones have? with so many leaks one and phone close to release surely they should have finalized all that, no?

FCC is just for the US.

My iPhone 5, bought in Taiwan, does not have FCC written on the back.

I think there are much worse things for the environment than Apple phones being plastic.

E-waste is not a joke. Believe it or not. it's more serious than global climate change. As technology has increased at astonishing rates, the amount of waste from mobile devices and other electronics is frightening. Aside from the plastics, the wiring and chemical components poison fresh water and wash up on the shores of many beaches, something first world nations don't see as the garbage is dumped elsewhere (keeps people spending and the economy growing).

The Impact of e-waste

In 2008, we generated 3.16 million tons of e waste in the ‐ U.S. Of this amount, only 430,000 tons or 13.6 % was ecycled, according to the EPA. The rest was trashed – in
landfills or incinerators. The total generated increased from 3.01 million tons of e waste generated in 2007, but the recovery rate stayed at 13.6%

E-waste may be poisoning developing nations

Developing countries are accumulating mountains of hazardous e-waste, with serious consequences for the environment and public health unless they start preparing for safe recycling now, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) warned this week.

Sales of electronic products in countries like China and India and across continents such as Africa and Latin America are set to rise sharply in the next ten years, UNEP said in a new report about the problem.

In South Africa and China for example, the report predicts that by 2020 e-waste from old computers will have jumped by 200 to 400 percent from 2007 levels. In India e-waste will have grown five-fold.

By that same year in China, e-waste from discarded mobile phones will be 7 times higher than 2007 levels and, in India, 18 times higher.

By 2020 e-waste from televisions will be 1.5 to 2 times higher in China and India while in India e-waste from discarded refrigerators could triple.

China already produces about 2.3 million tonnes of e-waste (2010 estimate) domestically, second only to the United States with about 3 million tonnes, UNEP said.

While we discuss the next, greatest xxxx release, keep in mind that not all of it is recyclable. What happens to all those iPhones that are discarded? Aluminum may be recyclable, but the components are not. We're here to discuss Apple products and technology, I think it's well overdue to open a dialog on the negative ramifications technology is producing. The next "big thing" should be eco-conscious tech aside from power consumption. If not, even the conservative estimates are dire.

You want to tell me e-waste isn't a problem?

The more I see of the Cheap iPhone, the better I like it.

What I find appealing is it's clean, plastic housing. It will be very durable and very comfortable to hold. With it's curved edges, unlike the flat slab design of my iPhone 5, the Cheap iPhone will be very nice to use without having to cover it up with a case.

That it will be cheaper is not what appeals to me, although that's a side benefit, I will enjoy trying one out to see what it's like. Especially since I have long since decided I'm not going to buy the marginally improved iPhone 5S. I'm tired of the design and external antenna.

It's true. E-waste has to be taken care of properly and recycled as much as possible.

the ipad looks awesome! i think i should not go for the nexus 7 but wait for the ipad 5. i'm also excited about the 12 inch tablet coming form samsung, let's see what samsung can do with tablets.

Apple better stay focused on the iPhone. I have a feeling that this is the year they fall WAYYY behind. 5C is great for what it is, but I'm not the slightest bit interested. The 5S is the flagship device for 2014 and i hope it's a bit more then rumors suggest. A better camera, and a FP sensor isn't gonna cut it. Competition is closing in from all angles. They can't afford to stumble with the 5S. 2

A FP scanner has some very intriguing possibilities and has the potential to be the first killer app/feature since the 4's retina display. We'll soon see.

As for the competition closing in, from a hardware perspective, sure, but from a software/ecosystem perspective? Not so much. Our company is a major Windows/Android OEM and most of us use iDevices for personal use. Even my Google contacts use iPhones and iPads. That alone should tell you something.

Android is great for the media and carriers and they've been pushing it really hard, but in actual use, it stil feels like a very clunky and unpolished iOS.

My iPad 3 is slowly dying so wish they would hurry up and release the 5 so I can take my 3 back and hopefully get it replace by the new one.

Please, please tell me the iPad 5 will have a fingerprint reader. (and let it be true)

It's been too long since the last real iPad refresh. Got my credit card ready for this one! :D

iphone 5c is a good step, it more of a mid-range iphone, apple was always about making money, they'll get more money this way and all the enthusiasts who couldn't buy the original iphone would be finally able to get their hands on an iphone.

What is so exciting about a fingerprint sensor? Killer feature, seriously?

IMHO it's damn boring and uninspiring...

Yeah, I honestly can't understand why this is a big deal in any way at all.

I mean sure, its new technology and if your phone was stolen nobody could use it. But with Find My iPhone and the erase option that base is covered already.

i wish there was a video of the iphone 5s, i cant wait for that awesome phone, i know apple is saving the best features of iOS7 to debut with the iphone 5s.

Serious question: Is plastic much more inexpensive to use than aluminum?

Materials wise? Probably not that much. Production wise? Probably quite a lot.

The aluminium needs quite a bit of work, including machining and anodising. Plus the 2 glass signal windows need to be manufactured. And then the 3 components need assembling.

Plus take into account plastic is not just one material, it covers a large group of materials with varying degrees of recyclability. And a self-coloured material is less prone to visible wear, so users are less likely to encase it in a separate plastic protector.

I'm not sure if a new design 9.7" iPad would make it appeal to me. I've become accustom to the iPad mini's 7.9" form factor and it seems like the perfect size. I feel like the full sized iPad is too much of a laptop replacement but I wouldn't mind a bigger screen for browsing the news/web which is what I do on my iPad mini most of the time. I can hold my iPad mini in one hand comfortably and scroll with my thumb whereas a full sized iPad sort of warrants two hand usage. I guess I'd have to try one before making a decision.

"Marginally improved iPhone 5s" ... depends what you're looking for. I'm looking for a better camera for low light conditions (which is rumored for the 5s) . The current camera is good in adequate lighting, but in low light, it's really pretty poor.

I'm not sure either. For me, it'll be mostly about what comes out faster, and that's the one I'll probably get.

Looks nice, but I wish the white iPhone 5C's front would be white too! Why isn't it? It would look so much nicer and cleaner, like the MacRumors renders.
