My iPad 3 already sees the writing on the wall.. She's getting replaced really soon

I told myself this about 4 months ago and sold my iPad 3. Its been difficult not having an iPad but I'm sure the iPad 5 will be worth the wait.

Apple logo

The transparent apple logo... maybe for a glowing one? Like the MacBooks?
God... I'd love my iPad to light up, just make sure it doesn't affect the batteries!!

I would LOVE this as well. The glowing apple logo is so iconic on the MacBook's and would absolutely rock on the iPad's. However...I don't see how it's possible because unlike the iPad, there's no battery between the logo and screen on the MacBook's.

Why are all these goddam videos so dang short? It's like ghost or alien sighting videos. "Whoah, woosh, awww did ya see that?! Wow!" Then bam, it's over. If these are for real, which they very well may be, why do they always just rush it past the camera and then end it?

I'm skeptical. Notice the little hole on the back of the iPad at the very top? If this thing is supposed to be like the iPad mini, then shouldn't the hole be farther up the iPad?

I do think the 5G iPad will be unveiled in the second Tuesday of October 2013 and ship the third Friday of October 2013. I want one, because while my iPad 2 has served me very well since March 2011, it's time to retire it for something better.

Here's what I expect from the 5G iPad:

1. iPad mini-like case design, so it's physically smaller than the current iPad.
2. Thinner touchscreen 9.7" LCD display with Retina Display resolution. It's possible the display may use IGZO technology.
3. New A7 system on a chip (SoC) with updated PowerVR graphics and 2 GB of system RAM.
4. 16, 32, 64 and 128 GB flash memory storage capacities.
5. 802.11b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi support.
6. Cellular versions support GSM/HSDPA+, CDMA/EVDO, and 3GPP LTE. Versions sold in China may support TD-SCDMA to be compatible with China Mobile's cellphone network.

Anyone else think the ipad looks better with a equal border on all sides? I like the symmetry.

Nah..I like the new one after seeing it. And after pulling out my iPad 3 and seeing how much space is on the sides, this is a welcome change. Especially after seeing the latest Nexus 7 and its fugly borders, especially the sides and bottoms.

And with these thinner sides and losing about an inch in width, it makes the 9.7 inch iPad more sleek and sexy and portable.

Wrong. Samsung overtook Apple for profit already. Look around before you start throwing numbers around.

http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2013/jul/26/samsung-apple-profitable-mobile-phone

If you had any sort of knowledge, you'd know that article and data quoted is full of misleading and completely wrong information.

Take 5 mins and educate yourself then come back with the 'correct' information..which isn't what you think it is.

Here I'll even help you:
http://daringfireball.net/2013/07/fitting_the_facts

Twice in the past week, AppleInsider's Daniel Eran Dilger has published detailed analyses of Strategy Analytics' data that strongly suggest a pro-Samsung bias.

• The first questioned SA's report that Samsung had "dethroned Apple" in mobile profits.
• The second accused SA of "rewriting history" to prove that the iPad's share of the tablet market had shriveled to 28.3%.

The latter report is especially damning because Strategy Analytics' seems to have inflated its earlier estimates of Android tablet sales by more than 11 million units.

cant wait for ipad 5, finally getting my first ipad. never liked the current design looks like those digital photo frames 1" bezel on all sides.

Apple is very good at differentiating their products. I'm sure people will post when both the 5C and 5S are released complaining about how the 5C is missing something they need.

I'm after 64GB at least. If they restrict the storage on the "5C" that'll force me to get the 5S. Hope they dont. I dont care about the fingerprint thing and like the look of the plastic one.

So I should have passed on the only available iPad with retina at the time?

Your bright

And lol iPad 3 handles ios7 beta as good as iPhone 5 .

Bright enough to avoid the iPad 3 after reading the reports and some reviews. However, the only thing that matters in the end is that you were happy with it, despite its short shelf life and marginal performance improvement over the iPad 2. Maybe I should've said, Apple knew the writing on the wall as soon as they released the iPad 3. All should be rectified once you get your hands on an iPad 5. As for me, if I can get 128GB with the iPad mini 2, that will probably be my choice. If not, it's an iPad 5.

iphone's screen is getting larger quickly in updates. cheaper iphones are coming out. They seems to be trying to adopt new technologies faster. I feel like the iphone is also going to like samsung phones.

Ill buy iPad 5 to replace my good old iPad 2.
I may also buy the iPhone 5C if the price is right.

Good old??? I have iPad 2 and it can do everything that iPad 4 can do. Ofcourse there are some major diferences, like screen and camera but come on...every app is playable and it still a rock solid devie. I may stick to it for 2 o 3 more years if things go in the same direction.

lol marginal performance ?bro I owned the first 3 iPads and the iPad 3 was fantastic . I'm assuming u never owned one .

And as soon as you said your waiting for the next mini lol well your credibility went right out the window

I love how people talk about a product solely based on reviews but never owned one themselves

The more I see of the Cheap iPhone, the better I like it.

What I find appealing is it's clean, plastic housing. It will be very durable and very comfortable to hold. With it's curved edges, unlike the flat slab design of my iPhone 5, the Cheap iPhone will be very nice to use without having to cover it up with a case.

That it will be cheaper is not what appeals to me, although that's a side benefit, I will enjoy trying one out to see what it's like. Especially since I have long since decided I'm not going to buy the marginally improved iPhone 5S. I'm tired of the design and external antenna.

What external antenna? The ones under the glass sections on the back?

You're 100% right. I am really excited for the FP sensor (assuming the 5S will have one). I think it's going to be the 1st FPS that actually works properly. And the possibilities are endless as far as integration goes. And you're also right about the OS and ecosystem. Android has a long way to go before it's on par or even close to iOS. But hardware is what sells. And I'd be willing to bet most people don't even know or appreciate just how smooth iOS really is in comparison. They're buying based on how much they like the hardware. And the truth is that the competition's hardware is getting nicer, better, and faster. And Apple is starting to feel it.

I really don't have a reason for saying what I said other then I don't feel the the S cycle is going to work much longer. I just have an odd feeling that its gonna be a down year for apple and iPhone. I am also not one of those guys who thinks apple should completely redesign the iPhone every year just for the sake of change. The 5 is almost perfect for what i do. But looking ahead, and assuming the 5S gets a spec bump, camera upgrade, and FP sensor. Im just not sure I'm excited to know that we won't be seeing anything else until late 2014.

Maybe I'm 100% wrong.

Your right, even though the galaxy S4 has better hardware specs. It's not smooth. Every time I go to best buy or a phone store I pick up the android phones and swipe from home screen to home screen. They are fast but they lack that silky smooth feeling I get from my iPhone. Even my first gen iPhone feels smoother when swiping or scrolling. If android can't get that right, I'm not going to be impressed with they hardware no matter how great.

So your saying that even though it's old, It's good? So if describe it as "a good old iPad"

Take a look at the silver metal band that surrounds the phone - that's the antenna.

You have got to be kidding. Judging a phone by playing with the demo is crazy. Those phones get molested in the first 30 minutes after being out on display. I own an iPhone 5 and a Galaxy S4. I'm not going to bash the iPhone to make the S4 look good. Yet that's what Android haters do. It's a sign of lack of knowledge for haters to perpetually repeat the same old FUD. Surely you can't be serious.

"WAYYY behind"? Geez, exaggerate much? Or just wishful thinking? I can't think of a single Android, Windows, or BB phone that has so leapfroged the iPhone 5 that Apple has to do a massive upgrade just to keep up or iPhone users are going to jump ship en masse... I mean that is what happens when a product becomes that "WAYYY behind" its competitors.

5C doesn't interest you. Great. Ever consider maybe you are not the target demo for it so it's not suppose to interest you?

U got me wrong. I would never switch over to anything else at this point. I'll be up at 3am per-ordering the 5S no matter what. Just like I've done with every iPhone release. I just think more this year then any the S cycle isn't gonna cut it much longer. I don't know why I have that feeling and I don't really know what I want. I leave that to apple to figure out. But when I think of the 5S getting a speed bump, new camera, and possibly a FP sensor (which I am excited about) I wonder if it'll be enough to last until late 2014. They have the App Store and ecosystem locked down right now. And I think that's their ultimate goal. But hardware wise, I think they will be surpassed by the time the 6 rolls around. It's happening right now and I hate the current competition. Most people but phones based on hardware alone. They don't even think about the smoothness and uniformity of the ecosystem. Some do, but the majority don't. They think the phone looks cool, so they buy it.

Do you think the 5S will break any preorder or 1st month sales records based on the rumored specs? I'm genuinely asking. I just think the 5S is gonna be the least popular & uneventful launch in iPhone history. Hope I'm dead wrong.
