to fix the setting in passbook....Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off. Set the date one year ahead. Try to update the apps again. If you get an error message, go back to the settings. Correct the date and time (set automatically) then go back and try to update the apps again.

Saw this on the front page. Doesn't work for me though. The entire app store/passbook is completely useless to me until apple fixes this.

My wife tried one of the Target coupons from passbook at the store today and the cashier couldn't get it to scan (just kept saying invalid barcode)... anyone have any success with this yet?

passbook issue and apple id conflict?

I have an old apple id that pre dates icloud or even moble me? And then I set up a new account for icloud using something different because I wanted to share the app store account among family using the old apple id. Which was fine until passbook came along...

Basically passbook uses the app store. My app store password on my phone uses my old apple id (look under settings>itunes&app store). however when passbook is set up on the phone, it is configureged under my icloud account (look under settings>icloud). So when i try to access the app store through passbook, it expects im trying to log into app store using my icloud id and gives me an error because my app store access is set up using my old apple id.

Could they fix this is if apple pulls out the passbook configuration from settings>icloud and then puts in under settings>Itunes & App Sture; or they could let you set the App Store id manually in the passbook setting.

That seems to be the issue here for me. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the date/time fix.

Same here. Tried all the "forward the date" tricks, etc and passbook will still not connect to he store. Anyone?

i tried the date thing and it worked, but only after the fourth or fifth attempt.

FACT I DIDNT REALIZE:

when you change the date, you need to go back in and enable iMessage and FaceTime afterwards, they turn off when you set the date forward and wont turn back on automatically.

This only worked after I reactivated imessages and facetime for some reason. It may have just been a coincidence, but it didn't work the first couple of times I tried it.

It seems like its a apple id conflict issue. Resetting the date forces a FaceTime and iMessage sign in (which is based aroub the id)

I just tried the same thing at Target today and had the same problem. Looking at comments on the app, it seems many others are having the same problem.

I purchased a couple movie tickets via fandango and it was super nice and simple to send them to passbook. Walked into the theatre and showed them my phone and I was through. Very easy

Same here, wouldn't scan. Honestly, I've used some of the other apps that store your store savings cards and have never had much luck getting them to scan. I'll probably stop using Passbook because of this, I'm not going to stand there like an idiot while cashiers try to scan my phone.

Do stores need to upgrade there scanners to be able to better scan phone screens? If so, I bet it will be a long time before that happens in my area, always seems like places are slow at adopting new tech around here.

Another thing Passbook messed up, it didn't display the target coupon on the lock screen when I entered the store, even though I have Passbook's location service turned on and I was at my chosen Target home store.

I read something awhile back when I discovered CardStar. Some scanners won't work, because the glass screen reflects the IR back, and the scanner can't read it.

If you have the .pkpass file, open it on your phone and it will prompt you to add it to passbook.

No I meant for example, I have a $5 real paper coupon laying around with the QR code on it. How can I scan the QR code to transfer the coupon to Passbook, or do I need NFC?

Thanks. Who would have thunk it?

Just bought fandango tickets. Nothing in my passbook. This is such a damn joke. A solution looking for a problem.

does she have a screen protector?

i use my 4S at starbucks all the time and they have had the same scanners for years

I went to Target yesterday and knowing that I had a Target coupon in Passbook I wanted to check out the whole "notification on the lock screen" thing. However when I got there I didn't get notified. I do have the coupon in PB and in the Target app it's set up with the store I went to. Any ideas? Could've been a one time thing but has anyone else seen this?
