If that's the case then it won't work for quite a while.
But, yes, I checked the maps and there were no Sephora location (or any other stores in that open air shopping center).

This is when you need to suggest a location to apple to assist in the maps app functionality for all others.

Worked for me when I did it this morning. You don't have any sort of filtering or blocking for your text messages, do you?

No. I have Sprint and for some reason can't send the 6 digit text that they want. I get "Message Failed. Shortcode may have expired or shotcode texting may be blocked on your account"

So I'm pretty interested to start using Passbook.

Me too! First things I wanted to put in were my Airline Mileage Cards - there is NO function to put anything into Passbook! It's a totally useless crap-App.

And I thought Maps was the worst, but Passbook is totally useless.

Just make contacts for each airline and put your mileage number in the Notes section - much more useful to have them there anyway.

I would like my lounge access cards though, gym cards, etc. How hard would it be to allow me to take photos of bar codes, etc., and let me create cards of my own anyway?

That's my thinking too. Obviously nobody in Apple every thought that far. But flexibility ain't Apples strong point anyway.

It looks like many are using PassSource.com to add fake Passbook cards. In case you didn't know, PassSource is a developer website to let developers test for Passbook. Without back-end support, fake Passbook cards are essentially useless.

I realize many are eager to test and try Passbook, but like Game Center and Newsstand before it, it will take some time for merchants to do it right.

What's stopping you? Do it and save them in an album.

Good grief, give it some time. Already complaining and it's barely been a day.

You don't get it. Apple has to get Passbook right from Day 1 or people will just ignore the app and move it to an unused folder so it's out of the way.

The fact that it's Day 2 and the "App Store" button inside the Passbook app still returns an error for many of us is just a huge fail.

Failure #2: Read the many Passbook threads and you will find that most people are utterly confused about how it even works!

I understand that it's not a major app, but at least one person should have noticed that it has zero function. For me the 4 icons ('boarding passes' etc.) aren't even clickable. Just dead icons. How I am supposed to add a flight?

An app should at least be in alpha stage before they bring it out. This is just an image.

Passbook - Create your own passes :)

I haven't tested this out in a real life setting yet in a retail store, but it is possible to create your own passes for passbook very easily. You go to this website from your phone or iPad that is running iOS 6, you make the pass (it's fairly easy and intuitive, don't get intimidated, no coding knowledge is needed, just play around) and then hit "create". A pass pops up on your screen and you have an option to "add" to your passbook.

http://www.PassSource.com/

I just made one for CVS for example, loaded it into passbook, and tested out deleting it as well. Looks beautiful. Just need to test in real life now.

A pretty image, but a non-functioning image nonetheless.

Go into passbook and click on the sephora card and click on the little "i" on the bottom right. When the card flips over it should have a location address there, if not then the card doesnt support home page pop up, even tho there's an option for it.
So, are you saying passbook only works when I'm at the pre-selected store and not the others?
That means I'll have to go to Starbucks near the office when I'm at shopping at the mall on the weekend (when Starbucks support passbook).
That can't be right.
It must work over the whole chain of stores, not a specific one.

It will work at any Starbucks but it won't alert you when you are next to ANY Starbucks. It will only alert you when you are at the one you set (presumably that would be the one you go to most frequently)

How I am supposed to add a flight?
When you check-in to a flight using an app, there will be a button to export the mobile boarding pass to the passbook.
You won't be able to add it before you check-in for the flight (that's normally 24 hours before that flight).

It only auto opens on the lock screen for the main one that u set. Yes, it's stupid I hope they fix it. But you can open up passbook manually and use the card at any Starbucks.

I have a Lufthansa flight on Sunday. I have the Lufthansa app but I can see the flight information in there, but nothing in Passbook.

With 24 hours before the departure, enter in the Lufthansa app and do your check-in. After you complete all the fields there, in the last page will have the option to save your boarding pass in Passbook. It's simple. I've did this for my
Today's flight and it worked. ;)

I think this is innaccurate - for the PassSource method (which is supposed to be for DEVELOPERS ) this may be the case but from what I can tell there's no reason Starbucks couldn't accomplish the same for the entire chain with the "real" Starbucks pass.

Yes, tell me I don't get it while I have my Passbook with a few items already.

It's exactly like Newstand - you have to figure it out and it's really not that difficult. The biggest culprit here is Starbucks and the app has to be updated to support it.

It's right there smacking you in the face but people would rather use an insecure site to give away all their personal information voluntarily - that's brilliant.

For the record the App Store link worked for me. Stop using it if its that difficult and come back when it is idiot proof because the convenience will guarantee you end up using it in the future one way or another.

Settle down and get a grip on your emotions, sweetheart. I didn't say the App Store link doesn't work for everyone, just many of us. And yes, one can rig it to work by setting the system date of our phone a year in the future, but that's not the point. The point is that most people won't read through online forums to discover how to rig it.

How do you add starbucks? I don't see a way.

When I used Passbook, it was a few days before iOS 6 was generally available and when you selected the App Store link to locate applications that are Passbook compatible, Starbucks was the only one that appeared at the time. I downloaded it and browsed around, and there was an option to add a card to it and "use your iPhone to pay with you Card," etc. Since it was listed under the Passbook apps it looked like it would work, but I don't have a Starbucks card so I cannot test.
