Same. If any app developer doesn’t allow me to purchase via Apple I’ll delete the app
I suspect most app developers will list their products on several app stores including Apple. That way the consumer gets to choose if they want to pay more to buy from the Apple AppStore or get it cheaper elsewhere. That’s how it should be IMO. I have a choice where I buy everything else in my life so I don’t see why apps should be any different.

I won’t pay more either. I’ll just delete the app.

30% is hardly greedy considering none of these developers would make a penny without Apple.

These are the most downloaded apps for iPhone in 2024. I'm going to stick my neck out and say all of those companies would still be raking in a fortune without Apple

You've got it wrong. The developers wouldn't make a penny without iPhone users. Apple made their money when they sold the phone to the user. Any transaction between the user and the developer should not involve Apple. Not to mention, developers pay a fee to Apple to be a developer.
On the ATP podcast Marco Arment said Apple execs believe the only value developers provide is the 30% they pay Apple. Sadly I think he’s right.

So if everyone goes outside of the app store, what incentive does apple have to keep an "app store" outside of their own apps? I imagine exposure would go way down for a lot of these 3rd party apps.
Not everyone will go outside the official AppStore. Many people will continue use it for whatever reason.

A lot people seem to think that apps get a lot of “exposure” being in the AppStore. That’s simply not true. Apart from a few outstanding apps most apps get absolutely no exposure within the AppStore unless they are developed by one of the well known very rich giant app developers

And how many of these cost money to download or use?

I'm sad about this decision. Apple literally created a new market for software developers to cheaply and easily sell their creations. And, arguably, because they were too successful, they are being forced to change the rules that had been in place since the beginning. I

I will always prefer to use a single source or purchase instead of being direct to a website that may or may not work, that I may not be ablate contest the fees or charges. I think we all know this is a lose-lose for those that fall into the grips of bad e-purchase systems .But we are supposed to cheer for choice. Cheer and be so happy that it's here now. Because...well, just because. It's all so silly. But I look forward to the confusion and scams as the EU is finding affects nearly 75% of all out of app purchased and 3rd party app stores.

Yes, because they use "zero" from a$$le... they have good value proposition for their customers not for a$$le; if their customers would switch to Android, they would continue to be their customers... and I don't know the top ranking for Android, but I wouldn't be surprise to find these applications even in the Android top 10.

We should hope that these "giant" could push minor developer to follow them, to create new ecosystems.

And yet they were (and are) making apps for iOS, so that demonstrates that even with Apple taking a 30% cut, developers found this an acceptable deal. It is, as you mentioned, a mutually beneficial relationship or it wouldn't happen.
But imagine you can buy on a store at 100, and on a$$le at 130... maybe a user could prefer 130 because it is cooler to save a$$le profit, but probably a lot of people would prefer to pay 100...

If they don't have incentive they can close it. Until "there is market" for an application store, somebody will replace a$$le... it won't be the end of the world...

A 30% cut on Apple part perhaps is a tad too much.
But, but... those devs that complained about the AppStore tax because they want customers to have a cheaper service, if those devs now will just take advantage of the store without giving a 30% discount, they deserve the be called out.
Because then the truth would come out, which is that they couldn't care about ethics, but the just care about the $$$.

I believe this will be the case ESPECIALLY for big companies.
