I will continue to go thru Apple for all purchase, I do not trust anyone else with my info.
You’re obviously not an app developer. Most of them also develop for Android and some also develop for Mac and Windows. They have other sources of income.30% is hardly greedy considering none of these developers would make a penny without Apple.
Same. If any app developer doesn’t allow me to purchase via Apple I’ll delete the appI will continue to go thru Apple for all purchase, I do not trust anyone else with my info.
I suspect most app developers will list their products on several app stores including Apple. That way the consumer gets to choose if they want to pay more to buy from the Apple AppStore or get it cheaper elsewhere. That’s how it should be IMO. I have a choice where I buy everything else in my life so I don’t see why apps should be any different.Same. If any app developer doesn’t allow me to purchase via Apple I’ll delete the app
I seriously doubt that any people scour the App Store looking for apps specifically because they are subsidized by ads. They may tolerate ads, but only because they have no choice. The most valuable apps to most users are free social media apps or other apps subsidized through advertising.
I won’t pay more either. I’ll just delete the app.I suspect most app developers will list their products on several app stores including Apple. How does that help you? Every app will be more expensive on the Apple AppStore. Good luck having zero apps on your iPhone. I’m sure you will have great fun with it.I won’t pay more either. I’ll just delete the app.
So you’re saying free apps no longer exist. 🤦♂️How does that help you? Every app will be more expensive on the Apple AppStore. Good luck having zero apps on your iPhone. I’m sure you will have great fun with it.
30% is hardly greedy considering none of these developers would make a penny without Apple.
So you’re only going to install free apps on your iPhone and no third party subscriptions? That’s going to generate zero revenue for Apple. What a great strategy, I might try that myself. So you’re saying free apps no longer exist. 🤦♂️
No, they wouldn't make a penny without THEIR customers! They are paid by the customers, not by a$$le.30% is hardly greedy considering none of these developers would make a penny without Apple.
On the ATP podcast Marco Arment said Apple execs believe the only value developers provide is the 30% they pay Apple. Sadly I think he’s right. You've got it wrong. The developers wouldn't make a penny without iPhone users. Apple made their money when they sold the phone to the user. Any transaction between the user and the developer should not involve Apple. Not to mention, developers pay a fee to Apple to be a developer.
Not everyone will go outside the official AppStore. Many people will continue use it for whatever reason. So if everyone goes outside of the app store, what incentive does apple have to keep an "app store" outside of their own apps? I imagine exposure would go way down for a lot of these 3rd party apps.
And how many of these cost money to download or use? These are the most downloaded apps for iPhone in 2024. I'm going to stick my neck out and say all of those companies would still be raking in a fortune without Apple

The thought that Apple investors risked anything is hilarious. Apple has been a gravy train for investors for years despite the fact that those investors have done absolutely nothing to deserve those gains. You forget that Apple investors risked billions of dollars to create this market.
And how many of these cost money to download or use?
Yes, because they use "zero" from a$$le... they have good value proposition for their customers not for a$$le; if their customers would switch to Android, they would continue to be their customers... and I don't know the top ranking for Android, but I wouldn't be surprise to find these applications even in the Android top 10.These are the most downloaded apps for iPhone in 2024. I'm going to stick my neck out and say all of those companies would still be raking in a fortune without Apple

We should hope that these "giant" could push minor developer to follow them, to create new ecosystems. Not everyone will go outside the official AppStore. Many people will continue use it for whatever reason.
A lot people seem to think that apps get a lot of “exposure” being in the AppStore. That’s simply not true. Apart from a few outstanding apps most apps get absolutely no exposure within the AppStore unless they are developed by one of the well known very rich giant app developers
But imagine you can buy on a store at 100, and on a$$le at 130... maybe a user could prefer 130 because it is cooler to save a$$le profit, but probably a lot of people would prefer to pay 100...And yet they were (and are) making apps for iOS, so that demonstrates that even with Apple taking a 30% cut, developers found this an acceptable deal. It is, as you mentioned, a mutually beneficial relationship or it wouldn't happen.
If they don't have incentive they can close it. Until "there is market" for an application store, somebody will replace a$$le... it won't be the end of the world...So if everyone goes outside of the app store, what incentive does apple have to keep an "app store" outside of their own apps? I imagine exposure would go way down for a lot of these 3rd party apps.
