Rubbish!

Apple should buy Stripe and build off that. Stripe has a very slick system already in place. Not only could they use it as the backbone for their payment system, but would be used to pay out devs, or any monetary transactions that go on behind the scenes.

----------

I hate PayPal so much. I'm banned because I wouldn't pay up following an eBay scam.

I used PayPal from 2001 until last year on my websites. I used it for both standard purchases as well as subscriptions. Do you know how much money I lost every year because people "forgot" to cancel their subscription or claimed to PayPal their card was used for an "unauthorized" purchase? Even though I could prove these people signed up a year ago, then after a renewal, said their card was used without their permission.. I always had to give the money back. Err... PayPal always TOOK my money and gave it back.

You don't even want to know my story about a guy who stole my MacBook Pro on eBay, and how it took me 4 months to get my money back from PayPal. Let me just say I had 100 pages in a PDF file of documents and evidence. Total nightmare. I was ready to sue them in small claims court, so they relented.

I now use Stripe on my subscription site, and it was a blessing. Since I had to rewrite most of the code for use with Stripe, I went ahead and just rewrote the entire back end, and it was a blessing in disguise.

Thanks PayPal!

Dear Apple User,

Your Payment has been Placed on hold Pending Review by Paypal , you will be informed in 1-99 million years when the payment is complete..

Yes.. DONT DO this apple !PLEASE !!

Paypal and Apple are fundamentally incompatible. There's nothing about PayPal that is similar to the Apple experience. Paypal would pollute Apple's ecosystem.

I think we need not to worry. There is a reason why Apple went with Click and Buy instead of PayPal. And that reason is that PayPal is the most criminal organization known on this planet. I prefer, and with me many others, to avoid them like the plague.

How about this?

My mom wanted to use PayPal for her business, and asked for my help.

Here was my response:

1)No! They're evil!

2)Ok, if you NEED to, but you need to read all the fine print.

3)Setup a new "PayPal ONLY/Business ONLY" PO Box for your existing business.

4)Setup an entirely new "PayPal ONLY" Business-Related Bank Account for your business using that PO Box Address, and get a "PayPal ONLY" Debit Card that is associated with that bank account.

5)Go Online and fill-out the new account setup forms using ONLY this new "PayPal ONLY" Business Information, that is IN NO WAY associated with your own personal (non-business) PayPal Account.

6)Manually transfer the minimum required Business Funds from your standard business bank account into your Business "PayPal ONLY" bank account before making any business-related "PayPal" purchases.

7)Manually transfer the TOTAL amount available out of your "PayPal ONLY" bank account into your standard Business bank account the moment your payments are received for any Business-Related "PayPal" sales.

8) Never have any (or only the bank-required minimum) funds in your "PayPal ONLY" bank account during times in which you aren't making any active business-related "PayPal" purchases. Never leave money sitting in the account for "PayPal" to retrieve at-will. Don't trust "PayPal" with your money unless you need to for your business!

9) Apple, please NEVER trust PayPal with OUR/your customer information or any transactions!!!

10) PayPal is only a temporary necessary evil that I hope will be replaced by some better, more ethical and trustworthy company/service. If Apple can and wants to do that, I welcome them to try!

Apple + Paypal = not a good idea!

I ordered my nMP and chose paypal as payment method on jan 1st.

It says: Delivers by february.

Problem is: Apple told paypal to just keep the order open for 30 days. So the 30 days are up tomorrow, but apple will only charge paypal once they ship the mac pro.

So since they're shipping est. mid february, they won't be able to charge my account by then anymore, which will lead to the cancel of my order which will lead to me having to give up a new one.

I phone called apple 5 times now, paypal twice, no one at apple understands the issue (which has already happened to others) nor are they willing to help. They just say "Just wait and see what will happen.." and let the disaster go it's way. Very frustrating!

Why do you all hate PayPal so much? I use it for eBay and it doesn't seem too bad... :/

It's not so bad until it is. Feel free to PM me and I'll explain. I've been a buyer and a seller. For a buyer, it's pretty good. As a seller, you have no rights. They have literally stopped outgoing withdrawals to my bank account that were initiated before a claim was received, but still not fully transferred to my bank account. Advice, keep no PayPal balance. As soon as you get paid, withdraw it to your bank account, or ATM via debit card, THEN ship the items. Otherwise, beware.

To buy or to sell?

To buy stuff maybe it's not so bad, but if you're a seller, it can be a nightmare. If you haven't had any problems then count yourself lucky. Not to say that you WILL have problems, but if you ever do, then you'll know why everyone hates them so much.

I have not personally had any real horror stories (only the close call I mentioned earlier in the thread) but I know their TOS and I watch my bank account like a hawk following any PayPal transaction that I make. I mostly use my account now to buy stuff. eBay/PayPal have basically driven me away from selling.

While I have nothing against PayPal - I have used them since their inception and have never had an issue, NO!

Apple should NOT consider it. Keep it all Apple. Let PayPal squirm.

PayPal is essentially willing to white label parts of its payment service to be used in an Apple mobile payments system

Who wouldn't? I think they could get this offer from anyone. But why would they need to? They have the largest database of active credit cards on file. You got this Apple, please steer clear of PayPal.

Mother &*%#&*. Of all the companies... PayPal? I had my account hacked, and fraudulently used. What did they do when I reported it? Sent me to collections. Awesome company.....

I must seriously be missing something here...I mean the PayPal hate here is astonishing!

Furthermore, PayPal bring afraid of Apple makes about as much sense to me as Microsoft being afraid of Abercrombie...

At least we didn't have to pay or it... :D

Actually I'm mainly a seller... so far I haven't had any trouble.

Not a fan of PayPal overall, but I would take some satisfaction in an Apple partnership with PayPal just because it would be a middle finger to Carl Icahn's advice to Apple and eBay.
As you obviously know, but I suspect many don't, that while Carl Icahn has been pushing Apple to give him a bunch of money, he's also got a position in eBay and has been pressuring them to sell off PayPal. The idea being that the infusion of cash would drive the stock up and a chunk of the cash would end up in his pocket.

Carl Icahn is an utter sleazeball. An example of everything that is wrong with Wall Street and US Corporate culture.

FUNK PAYPAL.

seriously. screw them. they have been screwing consumers via fees and double-dipping (as both ebay & paypal) for years. i want NOTHING to do w/ PP, and dont want them getting any more fees from me.

Square's new Cash system, which is free and works very easily (email & debit card) seems way better to me.

How much Do I hate PayPal?

I won't even do business with eBay, just because they own PayPal. Sure I could do some business there, I could save some money, maybe make a few bucks off of things I sell, but no. I don't trust them. Period. I've been screwed. I know a lot of people that have been screwed. The web is full of stories from people that have been screwed. I'd rather buy and sell with the Corleone family than do business with them. I use Craig's List or Kajiji. Not as big exposure and I probably don't get as good deal, but I know I'm not dependent on a company with their track record of screwing both sides for their own profit.
