I'm pretty sure you're able to watch through a web browser. Go to tv.apple.com to stream in the browser. If people don't have access to a browser then I mean it sucks they can't watch it but maybe they should catch up with the times. 🤗

I don't think the person you quoted will read it, as there are people asking the same question and ignoring the answers.

I don't understand how people don't know the difference between show made by the service and something that has been on broadcast TV for DECADES. I agree with the former because they created it, and it has always been only on their service.

True. But some people just like tradition. And they know certain shows are on certain networks at certain times of the year. Or they’re just not into the Apple ecosystem. Since Apple is offering this free they could still allow ABC to show it. I highly doubt A Charlie Brown Christmas in going to bring in new Apple TV+ subscribers.
Exactly! Are they going to yank all the Christmas staples next including A Christmas Story?

I don't know how in hell you can say it sucks to watch it streaming. What really sucks is watching it on broadcast TV and every 5 minutes another commercial break interrupts your enjoyment, and almost always it's an ad about someone's bad health or personal hygiene products.
Or you are entitled to compensation.

Ok but watch it for free on Apple TV instead of broadcast? There’s no paywall. I see no issue.
You also don't need to own a Apple device to watch these specials.

Apple could pull a baller move by letting people mat least watch it for free via apple devices without subscription.
There are free periods for each of the specials.

Yep; I've experienced that on Twitter. Told a user that there are free periods for the specials and said user showed me a video of them trying to watch It's the Great Pumpkin outside of the free period yelling "SEE IT REQUIRES A CREDIT CARD!". (Well no ****ing ****; of course it'll require an account and credit card outside the free period you dumbass.)

Then watch it for free like the post you quoted states? Why are you still complaining?
A) I purchased these specials long ago, so I can already watch them whenever I want.
B) That doesn't mean I don't sympathize with and support those who would like it to still be on traditional OTA TV.
C) I haven't seen a single "trial/free period" for any of Apple's services that didn't require providing a credit card, so they can trick the inattentive when the "free period" ends into continuing their crappy service.

Or we could not suck it up, and they'll have to suck it up and stop doing exclusive deals.
When you are just a consumer fighting against a multi-trillion dollar company (especially over some nonsense) who has a lot of power such as Apple YOU as a consumer have to suck it up, not Apple.

That's what companies used to think when doing business in the EU.

Despite the childish petulant attitude in your posts, I will point out that to watch free episodes on Apple TV+, when they are available, you do not need to do the free trial. You just need an AppleID to login with, and go to the TV website link, or sign into the app on an iOS device, Smart TV, etc, using that Apple ID and the free episode will be on the main 'Watch Now' section. That's how I did it when watching the first episodes of the new shows when Apple TV+ launched last year.

Then again, don't let those facts get in the way of your tantrum. Have a snickers.

The same can be said of almost all free trials, not just Apple. It's their fault that people forget to cancel after their free trial? No, it isn't. The blame falls squarely on the consumer. If that $5, $10, or whatever dollar amount is that important to them, they would remember to cancel it. If they don't, the only person to blame is themselves but let's blame xxx company for being so tricky.

Your post wont be read because there are so many that feel they are so entitled that they shouldnt makes the very basic of effort like signing into a new account for free. And the irrational hate v apple is real...look at all the people pissed that apple charges a 30% marketing fee..but where are the pitchforks for microsoft, steam, google, occulous doing the same thing? Or lets attack apple one for bundling yet nobody calles out that my spotify account is bundled with hulu

No I don't, I can just not use Apple TV and watch something else, then I can say Apple TV sucks whenever asked, and so can a lot of other people. Consumer backlash is a real threat, and big companies have listened.

You consider that little thing 'nagging'? Blimey. The way it was talked about, it was made to sound like something that was large and in your face, interrupting viewing something for free.... (with the verifying, maybe you haven't told it to trust that device).

They are offering the episodes free, with a 3 day window to view at your convenience, as many times you like, at the period of when it would have previously been aired, with a minuscule thing to say you can subscribe for access to everything. Normally it would be aired once on 1 day, with advert breaks repeatedly.

Yes, Apple would like to gain more subscribers, and the fact the licensed for the production company to make new Peanuts content, that is likely to be exclusive, which is something that was not happening before this. Also, it the rights could have been bought by Netflix or Amazon Prime, and there's NO CHANCE they would have given the free option.

Again, you and others seem to be blaming Apple for something instead of Peanuts Worldwide LLC, who went to all the streaming companies to sell the rights to.
There's nothing on tv.apple.com indicating that I have to come back at a specific time to watch for free, just 20 "start free trial" buttons (including one on a Charlie Brown movie) that require me to subscribe.

Peanuts had many options and chose to sell exclusive rights, that's the real problem. I don't blame Apple for anything other than their trash website with its trash 2FA; at least with Netflix it'd be on a strong service people actually use.

Sorry buddy but you're in your own world. You are no threat to Apple. Whether you buy their products or not they wouldn't even notice. You need to get it out of your head that you and other consumers can bully Apple. They are the world's biggest company. But by all means go ahead and "torture" Apple by not using their products and saying AppleTV sucks, that'll show em! LOL. Companies like Microsoft, Google and Apple are too big to fail, so they don't need to suck it up. Strange attitude.

Yea, it's crazy, the lengths people go to be ignorant of fact, just to rant. If they want to complain about anyone, complain about Peanuts Worldwide LLC, as they put the rights up for sale to the streaming companies, meaning that these were always going to be removed from Cable.

There's nothing on tv.apple.com indicating that I have to come back at a specific time to watch for free, just 20 "start free trial" buttons (including one on a Charlie Brown movie) that require me to subscribe.

If you read the original article, rather than just coming straight to the comments to hate on Apple for having the nerve to buy the rights to air from the rights owners who decided to sell those rights, offering it to streaming services (meaning it was being taken away from cable either way), you would see that the free view periods are:
  • "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," will be free to watch from October 30 through November 1.
  • "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" will be free from November 25 through November 27
  • "A Charlie Brown Christmas" will be free from December 11 to December 13.
Therefore, until those dates, yes you will only see the option to start a free trial 🙄

To help make it more clear, how about this?

Also, a bit hypocritical that you're are apparently ok if other streaming services had gotten it, who would not have put them for free, just showing your Apple hate bias

You just intend to submit to your corporate overlords? THAT'S a strange attitude.

ABC's not gonna want to air them again. They're through with Peanuts, as during the last decade they were more interested in "Toy Story of Terror" than the Great Pumpkin, being a Disney company and all. (Yet they are not airing "Toy Story of Terror" this year either, as that's instead airing on Freeform and the Disney Channel, and was recently added to Disney+.) Should the Peanuts specials return to network TV, I'm pretty sure FOX would pick them up, or maybe they could even go back to CBS!
Of course I do have the DVD copy that I bought years ago. In fact, when I watched it a couple nights ago, look what I played before the special...

And of course, I brought this up in a recent fursuit vlog (edited on Final Cut Pro X, to keep with the Apple topic!)

Oh my gosh. People, stop whining. It’s being offered for free, it’s not even paywalled behind Apple TV+.

"Free" .. after high speed internet, and a new TV w/ the AppleTV app or an AppleTV. (Refurbs as low as $129/ea)

OTA was *FREE*... My best friends widow could still watch the local ABC station on the old 25+yo TV w/ a bunny ear antenna in N. MN ... AppleTV+ is ... "Free" ..

The devil is in the details.

That's in the future. You're telling me there won't be nagging and such before you even know what it's going to look like. The trash login system alone is a nag. They're not a charity.

I'm not ok with it. I hate exclusive content rights like everyone else does. I've repeatedly said that I don't blame Apple in particular for it, and if you'd look at my other posts before calling me out, I'm usually the dude supporting Apple. It's just, the exclusive rights are even worse when they're held by a service very few people use.

What percent of the population have even seen the petition? A vanishingly small percent, I would imagine.
Thanks for telling mommy. I guess we now know who the adult is. I'm sure you'll tell her about this one.

Yes, a lot of consumers in aggregate absolutely can bully Apple.
I don't care how many people share my sentiment, I can live without Apple TV+ like everyone else does. Nobody uses it.

To be fair, those 25yo TVs won't work with modern digital broadcasts.
