This bike is so expensive. better get a regular spinning bike and use with an iPad.

There are quite of free spinning classes for free on YT.

Well, the new bike is $2495 plus I'm sure the "delivery fee" of $250, so I think it's actually still more expensive vs. the old bike (prior to the price drop).

FYI, they're offering a $700 trade in ...
You're right. I think ours was like $2295. I have sub-total for the Essentials Package at $2404, -100 Promo, +190.08 tax for a grand total of $2494.08. I wouldn't mind paying a few hundred bucks more for a trade-in of some sort, but I guess I'll have to e-mail them and see what my options are.

I just broke the 6k barrier for rides taken this year on my Peloton bike (that’s 6,000 minutes). That’s in addition to a larger (but untracked) total amount in 2019. The only problem I’ve had is that one of my pedals was starting to creak, which was traced down to a losening screw on the shoe plate. Maybe I got lucky?

Nevertheless, I will look at the new bike+ and see if any of the addons/improvements are worth the cost/hassle of switching. For me in these times of COVID-19, the Peloton bike has been a HUGE win.

The $700 trade in is pretty meager if you just bought a Peloton bike. On the other hand, if you've had one for years it could be tempting.

I'm 100% with you on this. Pre-Covid, I was riding mine about 2-3 days per week + gym. We stopped going to the gym, now doing the rides 6-7 per week + the floor workouts. I have pretty much been a 6 months on, 6 months off gym person but now I'm a regular with Peloton. The bike has been great, some routine maintenance is required just like any piece of equipment. The classes have only gotten better.

As someone looking for new equipment it defiantly gave me pause. I don't have a reference for the value, but the $39 a month is only a littler higher than iFITs family plan ($33 / mo). What do I get for that extra $72 a year?

This bike is so expensive. better get a regular spinning bike and use with an iPad.

We use a Sunny B1913, it's belt drive, has a beefy 44 lb flywheel (bike itself is ~130 lbs), great components, magnetic micro-adjustable resistance, comes with device stand / bars, it has 4 way adjustable seat and bars, SPD clips right out of the box. Scored it for ~$650 delivered from Dick's, added a Wahoo Cadence sensor, still under $700. It also has it's own simple computer to record cadence, distance, etc., so you can also just jump on and do a workout without an app at all.

The Peloton App subscription is $13/month, if you're into being ranked / called out, it doesn't really support that, we are not at all. However, you're still part of the ride, so you can do live, recorded, download rides, plus all the other workouts, all available for that $13.

The app integrated nicely with iPhone/Watch, we can use our iPad Pro, or we also mounted a 43" TV in the upstairs office/workout room, so that's fun for the bike too, especially for free ride type app.

The Peloton App on an iPhone + the matching app on a Apple Watch, all connected through the Health app, the watch provides real time heart rate to Peloton, and as mentioned, the Wahoo sensors provide cadence. Then we AirPlay the app the new TV/ATV setup right in front of the bike!

No thanks, stick to Zwift for me.

Can not stand the adverts on YouTube for Peloton " You got this Peloton " makes me cringe every time I skip it on Hambini's Vid's.

You can buy a great bike with accessories, clothing for all weathers and an Apple Watch for significantly less. Get out and see the world FFS, or at least your neighbourhood! Instead of being cooped up in the house like a chicken. FFS.

Same can be said about running/walking outside vs. buying a treadmill... yet people still buy those. Did you ever think people might like to work out early in the day or later in the evening when it's dark out, and don't want to risk getting hit by a car? Or maybe they don't have easy access to flat roads to run/bike on? It always amazes me when people like you make comments simply because you can't understand someone else's reasoning.

a neighbor has his peloton by the window. the instructor is the most annoying thing i've ever heard. i don't see how listening to that is motivating.

LMAO!

Seriously? People paid thousands of dollars just to have a screen rotate on a bike?!

I swear every year these informercials turned internet exercise companies come up with THE most ridiculous things after the initial inception actually is golden.

Soloflex Muscle Machine.
- perfect and refined back in the 80's.
- They came up with a vibration motor that made scientific muscle/bone resistance/health sense.
- then the come up with the 'Rock-IT' (Leg press only machine) - complete BOMB. I think this ruined the company.
> They did NOT make the gym equipment lighter, nor resistant to rust, (The refined original machine still great buy)

BowFlex
- Came out with a resistant rod based machine.
- continued to refine it and make it more compact for apartment/condo/garage spaces = perfection
- the started with treadmills .... excellent!
- continued to refine their treadmills.
- NEW: Boxflex Revolution - completely great machine - cost was FAR too extreme and design was good.
. NEW: Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells = perfection! Refined and continues to grow their business.
> Somehow their treadmills became far to wide of a lineup; overlapping use case/costs.
> Some HIIT machine looks really hokey and in practice not too effective. Trying to push for an iPad/Tablet use - yet not everyone has a tablet (somehow they forgot the phone).
> SelectTech went digital and connected ONLY to their own app. Dumb Dumbs forgot about Apple and Android health central apps to allow connection. Furthermore Digital dumbbells? IF a person NEEDS digital dumbbells cause they cannot READ BIG #'s on a HUGE dial ... they need not bother to even pickup the weight = their goals (like the company) is lost on the purpose of being.

Seems like Peleton is following this trend.

I’m glad to see GymKit coming to good home workout equipment. I track my workouts on my watch, but they are never in sync with the equipment.

That said, the issue I have with the Peleton is that I can’t use that big screen to just watch a movie. I don’t always want to take a class. I went with the Bowflex C6 and use my iPad instead... and it was only about $900.

Their website is terrible, it read like their devices require the $39 plan. Is that not true?

I’m leaning towards the x22i for the incline but I hear pelotons app is much better than iFit.

Seems like Peleton is following this trend.

It also measures your biometrics via your Apple Watch and adjusts the speed and incline to keep you at your goal.

I don’t think any consumer cardio equipment does that. You would have to move into the $6000 plus commercial range to get something like that.

A Peloton branded bike requires their $39/month service subscription (I mean, technically you could buy a Peloton bike and not use the service, but that' sort of pointless ...).

Peloton also offers an "app" for $13/month for a non-cycle and/or bring-your-own-bike. I'll speak to the iOS experience: it has all the same workouts, you can interact with other riders, it integrates with cadence and heart rate devices, it's integrates nicely with Apple Watch / iPhone fitness, supports Air Play, and there's even an Apple TV app (all under the same $13 sub), but it doesn't at the moment support cadence/heart sensors.

Any word on whether the original Bike will get Apple Watch integration? Mostly, it would be great to have heart rate from the Apple Watch. Is GymKit hardware or firm/software based?

So I have been trying to buy a treadmill for two weeks. They are sold out everywhere, and while I considered Peloton I couldn't justify them on the grounds that I am no longer running track.

I would like to know some really important things about this new Tred: belt running area, continuous motor horsepower, GymKit support.
My thoughts exactly. It looks like the Treadmill is using the same monitor as the new Bike, so I am hoping it supports GymKit. The information on the new tread seems to be lacking. Perhaps when it gets closer to the actual release, we will get more information about it.

I think those who don’t have a GymKit based machine don’t need to feel they are missing out on much. From what I understand, all GymKit offers over the Apple Watch tracking itself is that the calories burnt count will come from the machine and not the watch. But from my experience, the Apple Watch by itself is good enough. My bowflex elliptical shows me completely different calorie counts than my Apple Watch. But it doesn’t matter cause the difference is always consistent. The number itself has no value. What’s important is that one sets their target based on their recording device of choice and achieves that target. If my machine had GymKit all that would amount to is that I would be setting a different target on my active calories ring. Most people are not professional athletes and so don’t need an accurate calories burnt count. My advice - If you are not into the whole online class thing, don’t buy this machine just for GymKit.

Sounds like bringing your own bike with say a $750/US indoor resistant wheel and mount would be much cheaper. Curious if another app that measure cadence could be used with their app running also? It may not sync up with their app and TV stream community though. I'm not that hard core of a bike rider so not worth it to me - yet I live in a country were 4 seasons is real and Winter indoor riding IS BIG here.

How much is the Peloton bike range? I notice their site doesn't readily mention it.

Not happening. It requires NFC, which the original bike doesn’t have. It’s a hardware limitation.

Just for clarity ... you're using the Peloton App on the iPhone to AirPlay (not the Peloton Watch app), right?

There are a bunch of instructors on their platform, some are funny, some are more serious, others annoy me. No one has the same tastes. Plus you can adjust the mix to listen to more of the music or more of the instructor if you want.

So I could get a NordicTrack and point it at a TV using the Peloton Apple TV app? Then we could use both Peloton + iFit (13 + 15, so $28) and have the flexibility and variability of using either. I have also heard that NordicTrack's displays are just barebones android tablets. There is a guy on YT that claims to have installed the Peloton app (And YT and NetFlix) on the X22.

That would be a great solution if real.

i don't have any of those choices because again, this is my neighbor. they always have the same instructor and it is god awful.
