i don't have any of those choices because again, this is my neighbor. they always have the same instructor and it is god awful.
Why don't you get the calm app and some nice Klipsch Premieres and drown him out with the soothing voice of Stephen Fry describing flowers in France. Remember, you fight fire with water.

I understand that, but you also said "i don't see how listening to that is motivating." which is what my comments was about.

Am I the only one who had never heard of GymKit before?
I do wish more gyms would catch on and implement gymKit into their equipment. It would be so nice to have my Apple Watch instantly synced up and have the info from my run or workout instantly and automatically flow into the health and activity (fitness) app.

i get it. that is in criticism of my neighbors in particular. they have bad taste all around - i mean they have blue lighting in their living room and a sofa at the dining table.

Which instructor? Peloton minds want to know!

(Though I'm pretty sure I'd be annoyed to have to listen to an instructor bark at someone else as well . . . but I'm also annoyed by leaf blowers and AC compressors)

Have an iPad? Get a good, better than a Peloton bike, for $500, a Wahoo sensor, and a $10 Peloton subscription. Save yourself $1955.

May work where you live, but up here in Canada we have this phenomenon called weather. Winter can be brutal. I feel ways safer on my Peloton than outside.

Love the outdoors, but for those of us in harsher climates, the Peloton is a great experience. The social part plus coaching is great as well.
Yea I don't even want to see the prices and backorders of exercise items once winter hits the US

i wouldn't know. it's a young woman with a high pitch valley girl accent. but any voice would be annoying just because i'm not the one exercising as you say.

I love cycling in a studio, but I live in a high risk area for COVID right now and it feels absolutely stupid for me to be piling into a small room with sweaty, heavy breathing people right now to do what I love. With Fall and then Winter coming, I might just finally take the leap with Peloton and this new bike.

I’m not big into exercise but it sounds like a good idea. I was just kinda surprised at myself for never having heard of it before. And I’m someone who visits this site every day and watches Apple events like a nerd.

I have the Bowflex C6 bike which integrates with the Peloton iOS apps (and lots of other apps too). The bike itself is less than half the price of the Peloton and the $12/month subscription on the app is fairly reasonable as I use it about five days a week. The bike will send cadence/RPM data via bluetooth and its included heart rate monitor also feeds data back to the app so you get a fairly good workout data. Sure it doesn't have all the inputs/data Peloton itself has but as it's much cheaper it was a no-brainer for me. I love spin and enjoy the Peloton classes but like having the flexibility of being able to switch to other apps if I want.

You can buy a great bike with accessories, clothing for all weathers and an Apple Watch for significantly less. Get out and see the world FFS, or at least your neighbourhood! Instead of being cooped up in the house like a chicken. FFS.
I own 2 bikes, plus a Peloton. I wake up when it is dark outside and ride the Peloton. I ride my bikes when it is light out, and have about an equal number of miles between the 2

So I could get a NordicTrack and point it at a TV using the Peloton Apple TV app? Then we could use both Peloton + iFit (13 + 15, so $28) and have the flexibility and variability of using either. I have also heard that NordicTrack's displays are just barebones android tablets. There is a guy on YT that claims to have installed the Peloton app (And YT and NetFlix) on the X22.

That would be a great solution if real.

Yes, with the following caveat: the Apple TV app does not have sensor inputs for cadence or heart rate. If you want to use the TV for a workout, you'd probably be better off Air Playing from an iPhone running the Peloton App, so it could gather sensor info. In either case, you can definitely do what you're describing, and use both the NordicTrack's display/service _or_ the Peloton App (for $13/month) for some nice diversity in your workouts.

Also, the Peloton App offers a number of workout types, HIIT, strength, yoga of all flavors, so you get access to all sorts of content.

There are several other cycling apps, that offer some cool stuff like virtual group rides (some have maps all over the world), pretty neat stuff.

True But if you work hours that don't allow you to workout during the daytime, it's nice to have an option. Or when it's raining and you still want to get a workout in. You should think bigger picture.

Just for clarity ... you're using the Peloton App on the iPhone to AirPlay (not the Peloton Watch app), right?

Yeah, the Watch part of the setup is really just for the sensor / health reporting (when you start up, the Watch records a workout, and the iPhone by way of the Peloton app does too).

The Peloton app, for $13/month give you an App for: iPhone, Watch, iPad and Apple TV. When you install the Peloton App on the iPhone, you get the matching Watch app, and if you connect it to the Health App, then it gets all integrated, the Watch can be used for a hear rate sensor, and it sends that data (in real time) to the Peloton iPhone app. I used an extra heart rate sensor we had with the iPad, and that works great too, just a simple BT setup.

iPad w/ Peloton App
Works with Wahoo cadence sensor
Does not work with Watch for HR
Does work with BT HR sensors
All workout results are in the Peloton App

iPhone + Apple Watch w/ Peloton App(s)
Works with Wahoo cadence sensor
Does work with Watch for HR
Does work with BT HR sensors
All workout results are in the Peloton App
All workout results are also in Activity/Workout on iPhone

I saw the Bowflex C6 mentioned a few times, just an FYI, since I did a ton of research: the Schwinn IC4 is the exact same bike as the Bowflex C6 for $100 less (though the C6 comes with a mat if you need one). It was $150 cheaper, but they bumped the price a bit during all this.

Bowflex, Schwinn, and Nautilus are actually all holdings of Nautilus, Inc.

I might have to give you Canadian winter weather... So long as you make use of your summer - if you get one?! Surely you have gyms that offer the social side as well as being better value? The Peloton costs seem astronomical...

We used to have a ‘rowing board’ at a gym I used to frequent when I was a lad, before social media. There was a leaderboard of the best times, so plenty of motivation around to beat your fellow man.

Same can be said about running/walking outside vs. buying a treadmill... yet people still buy those. Did you ever think people might like to work out early in the day or later in the evening when it's dark out, and don't want to risk getting hit by a car? Or maybe they don't have easy access to flat roads to run/bike on? It always amazes me when people like you make comments simply because you can't understand someone else's reasoning.

I don’t get treadmills either... 😆

I’m a bloke so sometimes I don’t think of things from a woman’s point of view. I ride/walk/run at any time, even if it’s dark, but I see what you mean. Life is a risk, it’s risky breathing at the moment, but it doesn’t mean we should stop breathing, or live in a hazmat suit... And no bike ride could be complete without hills, they make for a good challenging bike ride!

Perhaps there’s just been too much indoors already this year... People like me... 😂

1/Biking outside in NYC is very possible, but not always optimal. Especially in the winter, but also rainy days, during rush hour, etc. Some people find it fun, I tend to see it as stressful.
2/Gyms are EXPENSIVE here. Equinox is $185 a month (starting). And they just reopened with limited capacity this week. Soulcycle is like over $30 per class!

My peloton feels like an absolute bargain to be able to work out at home.

I used COVID as a opportunity to get in shape. I am walking 5-10kms most days and riding the bike 2-3 times a week. I was never into exercise, but have really started seeing the benefits as of late. I don't consider myself competitive but I do like the leader boards. You can also ride along/beside friends that are not in the same area.

Would love to have Apple watch and gymkit support on my bike. But this does not feel like a compelling upgrade since I bought mine earlier this year. Would be nice to be able to upgrade the tablet since it’s possible to buy a replacement tablet for $700. Still seems silly to upgrade hardware are all to support the heart rate monitor on a bluetooth device.

Agree. You can buy a decent bike, an Wahoo trainer, and a year subscription to Zwift and an AppleTV to run it on for a fraction of the cost of a Peloton and the subscription.

Save the money, explore the outdoors...

Canyon Endurance 6.0 Al disc - $1499
Wahoo Kickr Snap - $599
AppleTV - $149
Zwift Subscription for 1 year - $179
$2426 - Ride indoors our outdoors.

Peloton Bike+ - $2495
1 Year All Access Subscription - $468
$2963 - Ride indoors.
