FYI - Just in case you haven't noticed, the 20" 2.0Ghz and 24" 2.4Ghz iMacs are back in the refurb section of the Apple store (US site).
With the likelihood of only minor changes to the iMac, a refurb is very tempting. Hmmm...to buy or not to buy, that is the question.
I have just got one from the UK store, ordered it Friday morning. With the saving and what is likely to happen (nothing major) i decided to take the leap of faith and become anowner

Looks like they have sold out of Refurb iMacs on the UK store.
I guess we will find out pretty soon... (or next week)
i dont know if this has already been mentioned because i dont really want to read all 7 pages of this thread just to make sure...but anyways, i am looking at the refurbished mac page on apple.com and for the iMacs it says "Limited Time Special Price" and the refurbished price is lower than normal (i think). This could also add the the questioning of a new iMac

Tierd of waiting, just ordered a 24" refurb for $1499.00 before there all gone. Nice machine, great price.
Please dont start another rumer! lol
I dont understand it? Some dodgy german site predicts teusday as the update day! and everyone goes nuts. Where do these site get there info from? Does this mean that any idiot can put something on the web (and it becomes a rumor?)
Plus if you check the MacRumors Buyer's Guide, it seems clear that they should be updating the processors really soon, if not next Tuesday then I would hope in 2 weeks for sure. But who knows with Apple nowadays!!![]()
To you it's overrated, but for a lot of people with appparently more sensitivity to reflection and glare, it's a big issue. I don't know why so many people here are so quick to write off the complaints and concerns about this. There are clearly two camps of people: those whose eyesight allows them to ignore glare and reflection and those whose eyesight doesn't.
Apple is no longer the "beleagured" computer maker it once was and they have more resources at their disposal than ever before. It's not an unreasonable request that Apple either a) introduce a headless iMac/mid-range tower so a third-party monitor can be used with it, or b) offer a matte screen option as they do with the MacBook Pros. The "one size fits all" mentality is a problem with all-in-ones and Apple needs to think about how to make everyone happy, not just those for whom the glossy screen isn't an issue.
Either way, you can see for yourself that I am not alone in this opinion. There are others right here in this thread who say it's a problem. I wish some of you wouldn't be so dismissive of that. It matters to some of us and we don't appreciate the rush to defend Apple's misstep here at all costs.
And you know what? I'm willing to pay a little extra for the privilege of a matte screen option. So before anyone jumps in with that tired old line about how it would cost Apple too much to do it, bear in mind, that I would be happy to pay for that option. But Apple has, thus far, shown no interest in offering it.
