I guess they have to give the spotlight to the updated MacBooks and MBP's for a while - just wish they would quietly slip in an upgrade to iMac...

I'm guessing Apple will let the MB/MBP updated models another week in the spotlight before updating the iMacs and Mac Minis next week. Wouldn't make THAT much sense to push them out now. Besides my 2.0 ALU iMac is already my dream computer so the thought of changing is non existent.

More iMacs in Refurb

FYI - Just in case you haven't noticed, the 20" 2.0Ghz and 24" 2.4Ghz iMacs are back in the refurb section of the Apple store (US site).

With the likelihood of only minor changes to the iMac, a refurb is very tempting. Hmmm...to buy or not to buy, that is the question.

Tuesday's gone with the wind.

Oh well. The special limited pricing on the refurb models make me wonder.

I have just got one from the UK store, ordered it Friday morning. With the saving and what is likely to happen (nothing major) i decided to take the leap of faith and become an :apple: owner :D

Looks like they have sold out of Refurb iMacs on the UK store.

Check first thing in the morning. Last Wednesday they had sold out, checked on the Friday morning around 9am and they were back, these were sold out again by mid day. Keep an eye out for them they will be back;)

I guess we will find out pretty soon... (or next week)

Please dont start another rumer! lol :D

I dont understand it? Some dodgy german site predicts teusday as the update day! and everyone goes nuts. Where do these site get there info from? Does this mean that any idiot can put something on the web (and it becomes a rumor?)

i dont know if this has already been mentioned because i dont really want to read all 7 pages of this thread just to make sure...but anyways, i am looking at the refurbished mac page on apple.com and for the iMacs it says "Limited Time Special Price" and the refurbished price is lower than normal (i think). This could also add the the questioning of a new iMac

reading is knowledge & knowledge is power

Tierd of waiting, just ordered a 24" refurb for $1499.00 before there all gone. Nice machine, great price.

Buy.

Buy. Question answered.

But for those who have recently ordered a new iMac (new or refurbished), this is good news! Their iMacs will be current for at least a couple more days! And even if the next upgrade are fairly minor, then all the more better!

I was also seriously considering getting a refurbished 24" iMac, but the 20" is also a pretty good sized computer, as well.

I don't think that is the case - it is more to do with Intel pressuring Apple into adopting Penryn sooner rather than later, as they did on the MacBooks last week.

Plus if you check the MacRumors Buyer's Guide, it seems clear that they should be updating the processors really soon, if not next Tuesday then I would hope in 2 weeks for sure. But who knows with Apple nowadays!!

Once upon a couple of years ago, Apple was like clockwork with updating its PowerMac line once every 6 or 7 months. However some things have become pretty odd in the timing. The time between the white and silver iMacs was around 11 months. The Mac Pros were not updated for well over a year. The time between the iMac G5 with a built-in iSight and the Intel-based iMacs was about 2 months.

So, if Intel is pushing things along, perhaps this will help ensure that Apple will also keep updating its own hardware. Perhaps the updates will start having less of a dramatic impact when there are updates. Still, this is better than being hamstrung by Motorola when they couldn't get the improved chips out the door fast enough!

Awesome

To you it's overrated, but for a lot of people with appparently more sensitivity to reflection and glare, it's a big issue. I don't know why so many people here are so quick to write off the complaints and concerns about this. There are clearly two camps of people: those whose eyesight allows them to ignore glare and reflection and those whose eyesight doesn't.

Apple is no longer the "beleagured" computer maker it once was and they have more resources at their disposal than ever before. It's not an unreasonable request that Apple either a) introduce a headless iMac/mid-range tower so a third-party monitor can be used with it, or b) offer a matte screen option as they do with the MacBook Pros. The "one size fits all" mentality is a problem with all-in-ones and Apple needs to think about how to make everyone happy, not just those for whom the glossy screen isn't an issue.

Either way, you can see for yourself that I am not alone in this opinion. There are others right here in this thread who say it's a problem. I wish some of you wouldn't be so dismissive of that. It matters to some of us and we don't appreciate the rush to defend Apple's misstep here at all costs.

And you know what? I'm willing to pay a little extra for the privilege of a matte screen option. So before anyone jumps in with that tired old line about how it would cost Apple too much to do it, bear in mind, that I would be happy to pay for that option. But Apple has, thus far, shown no interest in offering it.

Preach it brother! I am one of those people that would also prefer a matte screen option. I work on my computer at least 10 hours a day, and my eyes have become super sensitive. The matte screen would not only minimize that extra glare, but prevent serious headaches. (For me anyway.)

A little late I know.

I'd just like to point out that the macsupporpro website changed the GPU from the geforce 8600m back to the radeon hd 2600 "pro".

I'm also one of the people waiting for an update, but have waited long enough. Pretty sure I'm going to cave and just get a refurb 24" C2E.

Aw hamburgers.
