has anybody actually got it? My orig iPhone still shows "no updates available" and "you are running the latest version 2.2.1"
If you don't have it, we don't have it.

Unless someone has the GM build (which may or may not be the final one)

It would be VERY polite if Apple could release a statement on their homepage saying "The update to 3.0 will not be available until 10:00" or whatever time. Don't you think it would have been polite if they posted a message like that last night? Shows they only care about themselves.

"Available June 17" --- IT IS JUNE F#$%ING 17 !!!!!!!!!!!!

If they did that and something went wrong, or it took to long to replicate or whatever, then they would have phone calls and emails. Better to give a vague estimate you can deliver on than a specific one that could be effected by too many things.

if apple released a set time then look at how many people would all hit their "check for update" button at the exact same time... overloading their servers and then these same people would whine that the update wasn't really available at that set time because the servers went down....

they care about their customers more than anything, announcing the launch time would only cause itunes to crash when EVERYONE downloads at once, this way its only the desperate ones who will get it right away

I don't think that's a good idea. What if they can't deliver? All you whineys will complain. And if they really do, it'll really crash the server to let the whole world know to download at 10:00am.

Not everyone are geeks like us who are clicking on the update button every minute :p

This is just my $0.02, but they would get hammered if they posted a specific time. Every Tom, Dick and Harry would pounce as soon as it went live.

The alternative to this is that they actually have the server infrastructure to support the amount of business they conduct.

Again, just my $0.02. Steve...if you're listening bud....still love ya! :D

If I only click on it every two minutes, does that mean I'm only half the geek that you are ? :D

They should have made the update available in the middle of the night, at 3am, unannounced then most people would be asleep and the servers would not be overloaded.

lol wouldnt that take all the fun out of staying up all night?

I just got an email from Optus telling me about 3.0.
I don't have my iPhone yet so I can't say whether there is a release in Aus or if they are just sending out the email early getting everyone prepared.

I'm intrigued.

It's available !!!
The 2.2.1 Update is Available !!!

that is what my iTunes just told me.

I don't know why your post made me think of this but..shouldn't iTunes be renamed, it does a lot more than play tunes. I mean originally it made sense to be called iTunes but no so much anymore.

No. iTunes is fine.

What I would like to see is a check for updates counter. You know the numbers have to be astronomical!

I didn't suggest changing it something dumb like "iJukebox. iBox. iCentral." lol.
My point is maybe the name should represent all it does, your comical suggestions still have a music relation in them.
