People waiting for 3.0 update

Im seriously considering downloading it from a torrent.

Do you guys think that it is safe?

On the Australian Apple website it says it'll be released on the 18th there.

Rumor going around indicates it'll be released at around 7pm gmt +1. In other words, in about 5 hours.
 
I found this posted in another thread which I found interesting: (Credit to iamwildthing)

You can actually work out when this firmware is going to be released.
First work your way through the Apple sites in the different time zones that show the date for release. You will find 2 that are close to each other on which the date will change. Here are 2:

Apple India (June 17th) - http://www.apple.com/in/iphone/softwareupdate/

Apple Thailand (June 18th)- http://www.apple.com/asia/iphone/softwareupdate/
(I know the link says Asia but this was from the Thailand Apple site)

India is +0530 UTC
Thailand is +0700 UTC

Here is the fixed time for midnight between 17th and 18th June for the 2 countires, the launch should be between these 2 times.

India (Delhi) - http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclo...8&month=6&year=2009&hour=0&min=0&sec=0&p1=771

Thailand (Bangkok) - http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclo...18&month=6&year=2009&hour=0&min=0&sec=0&p1=28

From this information you should be able to work out the release time where you are.

In other words if you click the two above links, it should give you a timeframe of when 3.0 will be released.
Based on this, I believe 3.0 will be released between 10AM and 11:30AM PDT.

Weird, that's like 3pm my time and 5pm for the East Coast. What gives?? That's not normal is it??

Yea, me too, dude! i'm in San Antonio, (CST), so im kinda mad. I think imma have a BF (b*tch fit)!!! lol
 
I guess they should rename it "Launch Night", instead of "Launch Day".

Since people can't download it before they go to work and all...
 
this really needs a lottery. winner picking the closest actual time of release receives a big bag of postings from obsessive people.

If that's true, it would mean the release is due:

Los Angeles (PDT) - 1pm
Chicago (CDT) - 2pm
Washington D.C. (EDT) - 3pm
London (BST) - 8pm
Paris (CEST) - 9pm
India (IST) - 1am
Singapore (SGT) - 4am
Japan (JST) - 5am

That would be 2 hours later than predicted by Engadget!
 
I'm trying to build an automator script that will press the check for updates button once per minute, but I'm not getting it right.

Oh well, "ambitious but rubbish."
 
3.0 might be rolled out in some time. i see some changes in the site for AU.
instead of the date, they now have "Updating is easy"

Where do you see that? The US Apple site still shows release on June 17. Just took this screen cap.

You missed Mountain Time in there... therefore your US calculations after LA are wrong. Chicago will be at 3pm and DC at 4pm.
