Bummer. I was hoping that this would be the iPhone that catches up to what others have been shipping for years.

Yesterday, a report from KeyBanc Capital Markets suggested Apple was continuing to struggle to put the fingerprint sensor under the glass of the device, and that the company had "just a couple of weeks" to solve the problem.

This is ludicrous. Hardware decisions were made months ago. It's either under the glass, somewhere else on the phone, or not on the phone at all. Maybe they are referring to software issues here, but it reads like hardware "struggle".

Also, If the alleged 3D sensor isn't working and TouchID is either nonexistent or not working, they wont release the phone. How do you pitch a $1,200 phone that has the same unlocking capabilities as an iPhone 5 and doesn't support ApplePay? You don't... Phil Schiller is good at his job, but not that good.

So let's get this straight, we have rumors of TouchID issues, wireless charging issues, 3D sensor issues, and general software issues. How can one phone have so many issues? I'll tell you, it's all ********! Sounds like these guys are getting info from a year ago...

People can still use their passcode for Apple Pay until the software is ready.

Since only about 5% of owners use Apple Pay at all, and not even that often, Apple could make a case internally to go ahead if the hardware is ready.

Most people on this site think everyone who owns an Iphone uses Apple Pay. My experience is hardly anyone I know does.

If you think Beta 1 was stable, I don’t think you know what ‘stable’ means.

1 was horrendous with tons of bugs. 2 is okay. I’m running it with very few issues. Waiting to dl 3, but from what I’ve read, it is good.
If you expect stable, you don't know what a beta is.

I'm already using ios11 and there are minor bugs, but even the current beta is now reliable as a daily driver. Not sure where you are getting your info?

Um... the article specifically mentions software problems.

Also, I'm a professional software developer with 30 years of experience and have been shipping iOS apps since the store opened. iOS 9 was a disaster, and Apple's software quality and usability has been in decline since the summer of 2015, which was immediately before iOS 9 and El Crap shipped.

"reports fast company"?

fast company previously reported:
- "Some media reports have suggested that Apple will include a set of Lightning-connected EarPod earphones in the box with the iPhone 7. It’s more likely, our source says, that Apple will sell a more expensive pair of noise-canceling,"
- "iPhone 7...will be noticeably thinner, will very likely support wireless charging and be waterproof, a source with knowledge of the company’s plans tells Fast Company."

all wrong.
huh??? all this was spot on except the wireless charging?

re-read the first one:
"It’s more likely, our source says, that Apple will sell a more expensive pair of noise-canceling", meaning lighting earpods won't be bundled (but it was)

and then iphone 7 isn't water proof, it's water resistant.

And how much of that 'software' is being made by contract programmers in India, or Ford knows where... There have been enough issues with 'Apple' software to make me wonder if they actually do any of their own programming anymore, or ever did, and if that is the case, they went with a lower bidder.
Apple's secret outsource: 'Even more software to be made in India' apple_infosys_winpro

The Times reckons Apple currently outsources $100m worth of back-end software to India, but over the next few years will increase the investment to $400m. This make me sick.

This flustercuck of a phone better be kept of the release schedule.

If it's anywhere over $1000 it better do my breakfast and include Airpods and Watch for the lack of working features.

Thanks for the HUGE TEXT, but anyway, my sister worked for a company that farmed all their software development to India. She could tell some stories...

She had to go there, in person, to train their people to do some of the stuff she does (making sure their stuff doesn't blow up) and swore she would rather quit than go back. I can understand, but I was involved in a project that employed Indian nationals. Those people were like machines. Many of them were there overnight, and worked weekends and holidays. There was a nearly full staff of them on New Years Day. They were always on time, always wore impeccable suits, always stayed until a sticky issue was solved. It was hard to want to slag them after seeing their work ethic as I tried to leave early on a Friday.

But, yeah, the quality control is astonishingly missing. How many software updates does Apple push out to 'fix' issues that you would have thought would be fixed by a proper debug and QC team!
