if this were a 3g blackberry you wouldn't complain about the price

were talking about the most technologically advanced phone on the market
and it is MUCH more affordable than the most technologically advanced computer, TV, laptop, REFRIGERATOR, the list goes on

fact is, the iphone is now being treated like any other phone, in terms of plan pricing

if this were a petition to not require the data plan with the iPhone, id agree
but the price for unlimited data is what it should be

I am blown away by the hostility this guy has met trying to do one simple thing..... LOWER PRICES. Where do you people get the idea that lower prices would be a bad thing in any way. I am very willing to pay the new prices for the iphone 3g, that doesn't mean I wouldn't like them lowered.

Because if a company or business charges too little for as product or service that product or service fails. If they don't charge enough for the network it potentially jeopardizes the network, network expansion and the viability of the iPhone.

it is a naive and simplistic mindset to think that cheaper is somehow always better. Some of us actually understand what goes on the other side and are not mindless enough to just run around chanting , "cheaper is more better."

couldnt have said it better myself
thats exactly why im willing to pay 50 bucks a year for xbox live
it allows them to IMPROVE THE SERVICE
just like the iphone

My only issue with the increase (or parity) is the $5 for 200 SMS. It irks me - big time.

YES!! Thank you

Oh how I love to be talked down to on a forum about cell phone charges.

It doesn't cost ATT that much more to add my line of service once a network has been setup. Yes I understand the need to recoup the cost of developing and implementing a new 3G network and expanding it, of course I want them to expand their network and that's why I'm willing to pay.

All I'm saying is that with 22% growth in the first quarter and 30.7 billion dollars in revenue, they could include text messaging with my unlimited data plan. Text is data, it just seams like a kick in the face when they charge twice for the same service.

$30 isn't really that much money..you're making a bigger deal out of this than it is for a few reasons: First, AT&T didn't up the price on us... we're being charged 3G rates now. They were charging this rate to other 3G phones before the iPhone 3G was announced, so it's not like they're gouging us. The text messages being excluded is another story, but upping the price by $5 isn't that dramatic either.

I don't want to seem like I'm talking down to you but if $30 is too much for you to afford each month, you may want to consider another phone, or not buy a phone period and instead spend your money feeding a child in africa or saving a dog at the pound. Those things seem important to you.

Petitioning the plans offered by Rogers in Canada make sense because they're clear unfair... what AT&T is offering is pretty in line with what I expect cell service to cost.

listen. you people are being brainwashed. your being led to think that 30$ a month is alright to pay for the data but you know what else you can do with that 30$ a month your paying for your data? you could be feeding a child in africa or saving a dog at the pound or ending world hunger. att is the tyrant here and there just trying to eat whatever greens there is in our wallet. we must end this!!

and guess what there doing?? there also petitioning. I mean seriously i know you think 30$ is fine but we can do better than that!! we can get what we want just by uniting as one!!

This is so hilarious and yet oh so typical. Way too many people have been instilled with a "something for nothing" attitude that it is quite sickening. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for data to be free, I'd like to not have to pay for SMS service, but I understand why it is the way it is.

People will sit here on their high-horses, complaining about paying $30 a month for the iPhone data plan, saying that those funds could go to saving animals or feed starving children (noble ambitions for sure), but yet then go down to their local big box store and purchase an inexpensive piece of electronics made by some kid in a sweatshop in some emerging country.

You can't have it both ways. Americans (and to a lesser extent other developed nations) are lazy, we want what we want, when we want it, and we don't want to pay for it, but if we do have to pay, we'll whine and complain the whole way. Then we'll sit here and wonder why our jobs are being outsourced to other countries, why our products are no longer made here, and why our children are lagging behind many others in the critical areas of education.

If AT&T is the nasty corporate devil many of you are making them out to be, there is but one simple, easy plan to satiate all your perceived problems: DON'T BUY THE PHONE! It is just that simple. Nobody is holding a gun to your head telling you that you have to have an iPhone, let alone an iPhone 3G.

The OP is the true hypocrite, because if he/she cared enough about the animals at the shelter and starving kids, then the OP should donate the aforementioned monies that would have been spent purchasing the iPhone to one of those charities.

Don't get ticked off when you go out and buy a Corvette and find out that it will only take premium fuel. Time to poop or get off the pot.

If anyone is still that upset over this, PM me, I'll be glad to sell you my used but pristine 8GB iPhone for the right price, because I'll probably be upgrading. There, wouldn't that make you feel better? I promise to donate 5% of the sale to the local ASPCA.
