Really?

Yes and thats why your getting your ass kicked by Android.

I have owned the S3, Nexus 4 and the Note 2 and i can tell you fragmentation hasnt hurt my experience one bit.

PC's are fragmented to hell and they dont suffer. In fact OSX cant perform a single benchmark better than PC in any games.

Dont tell consumers its for their benefit you make the hardware and software. Its for your profit only

Well that's just silly wrong. I don't understand why people argue so passionate about shouting their opinions with such thin arguments. Im not about to say that the Mac gaming experience is a premium one to what is possible on a PC, but come on man, you are spewing more bs and misinformation into this crazy, endless debate. The kind of pc you are talking about is niche, a VERY small group. I would hazard to guess that it is a smaller precent of total pcs than Macs are in total computers. Also, most of the macs outperform the pc sector as a whole. Yes there is a greater potential for a PC gamer to buy/upgrade into digital splendor, but out of the box, I'd wager that 90% of pcs are under-performers compared to the macs in their category and price-point. Also, kindly go away. This is "MacRumors," not "Trolls Need to Breath Slimy Breath Here."

Android is still fragmented but if you get the Nexus you'll be able to stay up to date. But, even the HTC One that is going to be released won't be running the latest Android software until later this year, time unspecified.

Who makes more money? Google or Apple? Who's getting who's ass kicked?

Google makes $0 from Android. They are actually helping foreign companies and hurting American companies in the process.

This is why I can't stand Google android sheep.

I really really hope you're being sarcastic

Well duh, all of those phones were made in the past year. Wait another year and see what happens. I have owned a G1, Nexus One, and a Galaxy Nexus and have seen how older phones are left behind. But it is even worse when a phone that is about to come out (HTC One) still does not run the newest version of Android.

What 'features' does android have that you don't? Here's one that you have that Android doesn't. BACKUP and RESTORE! I call that a BIG one!

Swype. I'd like to have that on my iPhone.

Inter-app communication. I'd simply like to send data from one app to another. Sounds easy, but on iOS you only have clumsy workarounds for that.

I'd like to be able to pick my system browser since Safari is really basic and doesn't sync with my desktop browser.
Same goes for the Maps app.

The list goes on.

You must be trolling right? I mean who wouldn't update because of this?
But why would you update? iOS6 adds nothing of value.

There is a Google maps option that is waaaaaay better than the 5.x maps

Except it's not linked into OS services (for example, it's not launched when you want to map someone's address from their contacts entry).

and I don't think anyone really misses the YT app that much, you can still watch YT fine on 6.x BTW.
The old app has a cleaner interface and works fine.

As I said - there's nothing in iOS 6 of value to me.

If games are all you are worried about, keep your PC. I actually use my Mac for graphics, photography, audio editing, music, video editing, etc. But hey, have fun with your games (which a basic XBox can play better) and Excel spreadsheets! :D

Android is software. iPhones/iPads are software and hardware packaged in one. To say 'Android is kicking Apple's ass' is a ridiculous statement, even more so when considering that iOS still dominates web traffic, despite the supposed marketshare of Android.

It's like when people compare Microsoft with Apple. Microsoft are a software company, providing their operating system to thousands of manufacturers. Apple design the hardware and software, and that's the package you buy when you get their computers.

They're two different approaches that have equal merits and flaws.

I'm running iOS 5.1.1 on my two iPads and iPhone because Apple broke Maps and removed YouTube on 6.

Thanks Phil!

an app way better that googles Maps on iOS 5 is available on iOS 6 from google and youtube is available on iOS 6 too and they're free, thats a non argument.

Edit:you're refusing to adapt to a new situation that has all the advantages you currently have for non-issues.

How do you backup and restore your note 2? You rebought all of your apps for android? What are you using instead of Photostream, iWork, iCloud, Garageband, iPhoto, Find my phone, Find my Friends, etc. etc.

Sorry, but you're not fooling anyone.

When you log in to your Google account on a new, all apps are restored on the device that you've previously installed. Android has always been cloud based, but until 3 years ago didn't work as well.

Garageband is the app that is missing on Android. The rest of it is there. iPhoto/PhotoStream = Picasa/Google+, Google Drive = iWork/iCloud, Google+/Google Talk = Find My Friends. Additionally, anything I search on my desktop through Google is in my search through my phone. Back up of data on device that isn't in the cloud is with Titanium Backup (3rd party).
Even Microsoft is doing something very similar with SkyDrive.

The Android experience is fairly seamless.

I forgot to add that I use Google Play Music which seamlessly picks up my iTunes music that I purchase on my Mac and puts it on the cloud immediately. I don't get video though and maybe in the future, but I doubt it.

So what some magically everyday stuff does a Mac pisses on a PC?
iLife for a start. I don't need to worry about AV software, or fanny about with driver installation CD's. Excellent apps like Mail, Calendar, Contacts, FaceTime... not to mention iCloud, and a thriving App Store. I don't need to re-install my OS every year, or unpick the bloatware that's been pre-installed.

You were saying?

I wonder if this has anything to do with Samsung announcing the Galaxy S4 tomorrow.

Looks like Apple is anticipating some losses.

Trolling much? It's enough for me to log in to my gmail account and voila there goes restore. And that shill you said about Google helping other economies. Hm, please remind me how much % of USA stuff goes into iPhone/iPad/rest of Apple products?

After three iPhones (original, 4, 4s), I gave Android a chance only after JellyBean. It is smooth as iOS on my Nexus 4. Also, this device is not plastic crap.

Try to be more objective if you can.

You have owned THREE different smartphones since the end of May 2012 (release of the SGS III on May 29).

And of course, you will buy the Galaxy S IV as soon as its available, so you will have owned FOUR different smartphones in LESS than 12 months.

I won't tell you that your buying pattern is an exception, because obviously, you won't understand what i mean by that, because for you, everybody switches their smartphones at least yearly, bought the 900$ Geforce Titan a month ago and loves to tweak and compile the kernel of his operating system.

Instead, i will just say that you are weird.

And that you probably belong to those who laughed about "iSheep buying a new iPhone every year, even though they are all the same and without any changes".

Yeah, "iSheep" are of course so dumb that they buy each new generation of the same crap that Apple releases, Fandroids are of course much more clever and would never be so dumb... MR. THREE SMARTPHONES IN 9 MONTHS.

And i am still absolutely sure that you will buy the SGS IV as soon as it's available and will therefore become MR. FOUR SMARTPHONES IN 10 MONTHS very soon.

I really can't see what features a Android phone has that really make me think "Gee, I really wish I had an android phone."

but there are plenty of things that make me think

"Gee, I really am glad I don't have an android phone."

but that's just me :p

Without getting into preferences and arguments, I have to ask.

What feature on the iPhone do you currently say "Gee, I really love my iPhone because it has feature X that nobody else has".

I only ask because people are very quick to dismis android as being <insert inaccurate failure here> however in 99% of cases the person is either misguided or basing their opinion on really ancient versions of Android.

Google+ and Google Talk are not even close to being the same thing as Find My Friends. They do not do the same things.

And for a real device backup with Titanium you need a rooted phone.

Looks like Apple is anticipating some losses.

Given the success of the S3, the S4 will likely be the biggest competitor to both the iPhone 5 and 5/whatever it'll be called.

The major problem with android phones is not android .. It's that the phones themselves are not well thought out .. Yes I bought a nexus 4 a while ago thinking I was missing out .. Overheating issues , battery life , poor 3G and some tiny niggles like the google play store and the placement of the speakers are just too rough around the edges .. You get the feeling they just cranmmed All they could

Sad that on the eve of Samsung's flagship phone introduction the best Apple can get press with is "Android baaaaaad. <lists extremely subjective and outdated reasons from 3 years ago> Buy Apple!"

What the hell is happening with them lately?

WSJ Article Headline: "In Rare Move, Apple Goes on the Defensive Against Samsung"

Macrumors Headline: "Phil Schiller Goes on Offensive Against Android and Samsung"

The best defense is a good offense...which is why I drive "defensively."
