How do you backup and restore your note 2? You rebought all of your apps for android? What are you using instead of Photostream, iWork, iCloud, Garageband, iPhoto, Find my phone, Find my Friends, etc. etc.

Sorry, but you're not fooling anyone.

I'm not the OP but...

Photostream
Photos are synced to your Google account as part of Google + (note that photos are still private unless you share them). Also see the Google Drive section below.

iWork
Google docs works, and syncs to your Google drive

Garageband
Um, not a core app, and really not something people use on the whole. If garageband is going to be in the list you may as well start adding any old app to the list.

iCloud
Google Drive - if anything its better than iCloud by a mile. More storage, you can add any type of file to it, you can share files, sync to your Mac/Pc/Android/iPhone/etc.

iPhoto
Same situation as with Garageband (not included in the phone and its a premium addon), that being said, there are a number of photo editing apps for both iOS and Android.

Find my phone
Avast Mobile Security. A free app that lets you track your phone and remotely lock it. It also includes the option to remotely control the phone via the web and sms. You can also wipe the phone memory, lock it, and turn on a 'siren' that cant be disabled without pulling the battery.

Find my friends
Google Latitude - does exactly the same thing and was out long before Find My Friends existed.

So there we go. Your complete 'shut up and stop being so silly' list of Android equivalents.

Oh and before you start moaning at me with Android fanboy comments....I use an iPhone 5.

Can't this be said the other way around also, I can't tell you how many times I have been told the iPhone doesn't do XYZ, my favorite is I can't read PDF files. I think the line can go both ways, granted we are on a Mac centric board,,, So I am betting to say the comments are going to be slanted.... just a little. ;)

Oh yeah, sure it can (and is)! It does go both ways. I was just curious as to what the OP had to say :)

This is why I can't stand Google android sheep.

Ha, I think most people get iPhone purely because they its the cool. Fact is android has surpassed iOS and Apple needs some innovation soon because if they lose there cool status they could fall hard and fast.

Integration with iTunes really doesn't matter as much anymore with the cloud.

Also it really doesn't work that seamlessly, getting series of .movs onto my iPad the other night took hours then I just dragged them onto my android phone.

What PC still requires you to load drivers from a CD? Most oems no longer ship cds of anything by default. I could understand the desire for something on a disk if they live in a very rural area with poor internet service. Otherwise you just let it download updates unless you require specific drivers, in which case you go to the appropriate site. Performance varies all over the place, but OSX isn't terribly that lean. I wish it didn't hold onto so much memory at times.
I love how you dodged the rest of it, and picked the only "kind of" weak spot.

Sure, not everyone ships a CD now, you have to download it or rely on Windows generic drivers. What about something I bought a few years ago I would like to use again? I've just re-installed my OS, oops, Windows can't find a driver. Plug it into my iMac: boom, it works. NEVER had an issue driver installation on my Mac. PC: countless.

Yeah, but you either get an dev account or hope for an exploit to be found. And to the best of my knowledge you can install unsigned apps on almost all android devices without any os modification.

You usually have to root it to install unsigned apps. IIRC most handset manufacturers lock it down slightly. It's fairly easy to bypass though. Personally I always replace the firmware with a 3rd party one as they tend to offer more flexibility for developers.

Yet everyone chooses Samsung.

Google is the Korean economy's greatest gift. Take American software innovation, give it to the Asians, and watch them make bajillions in hardware sales in the hopes you can sell some ads someday.

In the meantime, Motorola, Dell & HP go down the tubes and Apple is left to battle the Asian clone-makers.

America says thanks, Google.

Sounds like Samsung's TV ads over the past year.

It sucks that google turned down all those US based phone manufacturers from using Android... Oh wait...

Yes and thats why your getting your ass kicked by Android.

I have owned the S3, Nexus 4 and the Note 2 and i can tell you fragmentation hasnt hurt my experience one bit.

PC's are fragmented to hell and they dont suffer. In fact OSX cant perform a single benchmark better than PC in any games.

Dont tell consumers its for their benefit you make the hardware and software. Its for your profit only

Yet another one who just doesn't get it. You are likely not the same as the vast, vast majority of users out there. A seamless experience is what most normal users want.

PC's do suffer from fragmentation. It's a miserable, kludgy experience.

This is doing nothing more than stoke up the flames of fanboys on both sides.

Personally, Google bring their best Android apps to iOS anyway, and the iOS versions are often better (see recent reviews of Google Search and Maps on iOS).

Google Search isn't better on iOS. And I love how people on iOS think Google Maps is better than the Android version because of the quotes Google put out with it's release saying how good it was. It isn't even close to as good as Google Maps on Android. That doesn't even account for the deep integration GMaps has with android/contacts/google now cards/voice search/etc.

I don't think that any manufacturer locks sideloaded app installing, there were some carrier in the USA that locked them

What 'features' does android have that you don't? Here's one that you have that Android doesn't. BACKUP and RESTORE! I call that a BIG one!

You don't have a clue do you.

My wife has an Android phone it's easier to back up and restore than any iPod or other Apple iCrap. Takes 4 mouse clicks at most. Pull your head out of your ****.

Each OS has there good and bad points. At least Android is evolving and improving. iOS looks stale and is stale.

If Androids are so bad why wait till now to start shouting out? Apple are scared. They haven't got anything coming that'll be "magical". Job's legacy of future products has finished. Tim and Phil are on their own.

Who makes more money? Google or Apple? Who's getting who's ass kicked?

Google makes $0 from Android. They are actually helping foreign companies and hurting American companies in the process.

This is why I can't stand Google android sheep.

No, Google makes a great deal from android through advertisements and access to user viewing habits. They use this data to better target their audience, and having a large audience allows them to sell more advertisements. That is why they can afford to sell things at cost. Software and hardware are a byproduct of them putting ads in front of your face.

The funny thing is while the Apple software products are all tied together for a seamless experience that works, you just threw together a bunch of scraps from Google and other junk that won't give the same great experience. Nice fail. :)

Apple has their stuff made by the chicoms, so what's your point? Making a few hundred thousand desktops in the US doesn't put a dent in Apple's overseas manufacturing. Samsung makes their SoCs in the US, and Apple uses TSMC in Taiwan. Samsung employs more Americans in America than Apple does. Your argument is stale like those who complain about Japanese cars being continue to be inferior because of the cheap quality when they initially came out.

Well then Samsung must be scared all the time. :D

That is because Samsung was the underdog so it made since. Notice Samsung has toned down their Apple attack ads now that they have gotten so popular. Apple is now acting like the underdog by going on attack mode and I'm not sure it helps their image.

You obviously haven't used an Android device lately.

So basically Apple agrees that Galaxy S4 would be better than any device they would (or could) produce in the next 2 years.

When you log in to your Google account on a new, all apps are restored on the device that you've previously installed. Android has always been cloud based, but until 3 years ago didn't work as well.

Garageband is the app that is missing on Android. The rest of it is there. iPhoto/PhotoStream = Picasa/Google+, Google Drive = iWork/iCloud, Google+/Google Talk = Find My Friends. Additionally, anything I search on my desktop through Google is in my search through my phone. Back up of data on device that isn't in the cloud is with Titanium Backup (3rd party).
Even Microsoft is doing something very similar with SkyDrive.

The Android experience is fairly seamless.

I forgot to add that I use Google Play Music which seamlessly picks up my iTunes music that I purchase on my Mac and puts it on the cloud immediately. I don't get video though and maybe in the future, but I doubt it.

Android has a counterpart for Find My iPhone?

I will take Google Drive over iCloud anyday. Apple is the one failing at web services. I'm not sure how you are calling Google's web services junk but somehow Apple's is so great? Photostream and iCloud are not exactly well implemented services. Many people would refer to that is junk.

In addition to the above comments, Schiller said that Android devices and the operating system "don't work seamlessly together" because they come from different vendors, unlike Apple which makes both the software and hardware in its devices.

Seriously, tell that to all the pro musician users who bought Mac Pros, iMacs and Macbook Pros mainly to run Logic Pro. The terrible lag issue that randomly makes the app unusable on many instances of Mountain Lion and badly affects Lion also. It also affects Cubase, but it's far worse with Logic, so Phil's comment is actually somewhat disingenuous / fraudulent.

NO response from Apple whatsoever since Lion's release.

It's the worst hardware / software experience myself and hundreds, maybe thousands have ever experienced.

Oh, and in terms of iPhones specifically, almost everyone I know had big problems with recent updates and the update process, so he's clearly talking out of his real aperture.

You must not download many apps. well that is common for the platform. Your experience is compromised because many developers can only justify supporting one of the Android versions. If they choose the Newest one, they know they will have a very limited audience that may not cover their expenses
Every review I read says that iOS has a console type performance that Android can't match. If you want PC games run widows on the mac in bootcamp. It runs it better than any of the PCs on the market.
