It's true there's no way around it.
The second problem that android has is piracy, I only know 1 person that doesn't pirate android apps all the other users that I know either use only free stuff or pirate away.

So does IOS, why do you think jailbreaking is so immensely popular?

iLife for a start. I don't need to worry about AV software, or fanny about with driver installation CD's. Excellent apps like Mail, Calendar, Contacts, FaceTime... not to mention iCloud, and a thriving App Store. I don't need to re-install my OS every year, or unpick the bloatware that's been pre-installed.

You were saying?

What PC still requires you to load drivers from a CD? Most oems no longer ship cds of anything by default. I could understand the desire for something on a disk if they live in a very rural area with poor internet service. Otherwise you just let it download updates unless you require specific drivers, in which case you go to the appropriate site. Performance varies all over the place, but OSX isn't terribly that lean. I wish it didn't hold onto so much memory at times.

An argument I find myself in with Android users continuously. I agree that people have different needs and wants, but I hate it when people say that iPhone is a worse phone because "it's so less powerful than my Android phone." That's not the way Apple markets its phone. Apple aren't overly worried about it having the latest internals, instead they're more concerned that the experience you have is better than that of Android and more seamless. Which it is. There's no point a device being good at what it does if what it does is not very good.

Schillers a ledge!! He should be next CEO... is it me or is he the only one in Apple to have a sense of humour?

Who makes more money? Google or Apple? Who's getting who's ass kicked?

Google makes $0 from Android. They are actually helping foreign companies and hurting American companies in the process.

This is why I can't stand Google android sheep.

Interesting consumer insight. Fact is! you are not making money from neither and kicking noones ass.

One step further, irrespective whose product you purchase its made in china.

Feel free to comeback and prove me wrong when I see Made in America on Apple products in the future.

Android just feels tacky and cheap the phones feel like thin bits of plastic.. after the 3G is when apple stepped it's game up. The S3 has a great screen and camera the rest is rubbish!

I'm glad you take such pride in the money Apple makes that you'll never see

That's why you go Nexus. Latest Android right away. No need to wait for carriers to bring out their version out.

That is only if you get a pure Nexus device straight from Google. Verizon Galaxy Nexus owners are still waiting on Android 4.2

"When you take an Android device out of the box, you have to sign up to nine accounts with different vendors to get the experience iOS comes with..."

I signed up to just one account. Is Phil Schiller exaggerating?

At least he admits that the Android experience is equal to that of iOS.

Without getting into preferences and arguments, I have to ask.

What feature on the iPhone do you currently say "Gee, I really love my iPhone because it has feature X that nobody else has".

I only ask because people are very quick to dismis android as being <insert inaccurate failure here> however in 99% of cases the person is either misguided or basing their opinion on really ancient versions of Android.

Can't this be said the other way around also, I can't tell you how many times I have been told the iPhone doesn't do XYZ, my favorite is I can't read PDF files. I think the line can go both ways, granted we are on a Mac centric board,,, So I am betting to say the comments are going to be slanted.... just a little. ;)

In fact OSX cant perform a single benchmark better than PC in any games.

You use a computer to play games? Go sit at the kids' table. Real video games come in 600 pound cabinets and take quarters.

...Honestly, in this era of mobile gaming, high-powered HD immersive consoles, and so forth, why anyone would bother to game on a Mac OR PC is a bit confusing. Same sort of person who skateboards to work. Sure, it'll get you there, but come on man, just bike/car/bus already. Get with the program. PC makers love PC games because they help sell hardware early in the development curve. Later, when the gear is commoditized, everyone else buys it. Gamers are the suckers helping hardware manufacturers contain their engineering costs during that early period.

I'm running iOS 5.1.1 on my two iPads and iPhone because Apple broke Maps and removed YouTube on 6.

Thanks Phil!

Apple Maps are not broken and you can download the YouTube app from the App Store — which is way better than the old YouTube app.

Yes and thats why your getting your ass kicked by Android.

I have owned the S3, Nexus 4 and the Note 2 and i can tell you fragmentation hasnt hurt my experience one bit.

PC's are fragmented to hell and they dont suffer. In fact OSX cant perform a single benchmark better than PC in any games.

Dont tell consumers its for their benefit you make the hardware and software. Its for your profit only

Fragmentation is certainly true unless you're a hardcore Samsung/Android fanboy. Then you probably wouldn't care.

I know some people game, but I haven't played a PC game since I was in high school. I'm not sure what this has to do with Android/Samsung anyway. iOS has way more games in it's marketplace anyway.

He's correct in that it is certainly beneficial to make both hardware and software. There are some arguments against it, but Apple has done so far been reasonable.

As much as I like apple, there OS is very boring. Android seems to be more "hip" than iOS. If apple doesn't make iOS 7 better, I'm going to switch. Also for him to say Android is a compromise from a feature phone, he is wrong. I've always bought the top of the line iPhone/iPad and have no problem purchasing a Nexus. Just listen to your customers and not tell them what they want.

How do you backup and restore your note 2? You rebought all of your apps for android? What are you using instead of Photostream, iWork, iCloud, Garageband, iPhoto, Find my phone, Find my Friends, etc. etc.

Sorry, but you're not fooling anyone.

Seriously? Someone actually uses Find my friends? And iWork? You must be joking.

"shhh... don't ask about innovation... I can't talk about it on the new Apple products because since the pass away of our master we forgot how to do it and our answers now are mainly to sue and criticize our competition"
Phil Schiller

What I find remarkable is the soft anti apple posture by many and ambivalent comments about apple. Im one of them, they could nothing wrong til they started doing alot wrong. Match, iTunes, Phone pricing, Maps, iPhoto, iCloud, Siri, Mail etc and a lot of other things.

The fragmented stuff he is talking about is catching up and in some ways surpassing Apple in its own niche.

I for one am very interested to see what Samsung drops in the IV. I no longer consider myself an Apple lifer and if it wasnt for being so in the eco system of Apple I might have been gone.

Also the Google product albeit in nascent days is also looking interesting.

Hopefully this all inspires Apple and Co to pull in the ****ery of watches tvs and all else and stay on target, focused and remain impressive.

I wish Steve was still around so bad :(((

But hey, have fun with your games (which a basic XBox can play better) and Excel spreadsheets! :D

An Xbox can play games better? No way. The hardware of the Xbox 360 is starting to show it's age. Many of the big game titles perform and look better (higher resolution and better textures and effects) on a PC than an Xbox.

Also, I know that gaming isn't the big focus for Apple and Mac users, but I think it's sad that the games that do get released many times perform much worse on the same hardware in OS X compared to Windows. The newly released StarCraft 2 expansion for example (Heart of the Swarm) for some reason drops much lower in frame rate in OS X than in Windows. Maybe the 10.8.3 update will do something about it, but it's sad it's almost always like this when comparing a ”heavy” game on Windows to how it runs in OS X on the same hardware.

Google+ and Google Talk are not even close to being the same thing as Find My Friends. They do not do the same things.

And for a real device backup with Titanium you need a rooted phone.

Then use Google Latitude which works the same as Find My Friends. You don't need a rooted phone for back up with Titanium.

This is doing nothing more than stoke up the flames of fanboys on both sides.

Personally, Google bring their best Android apps to iOS anyway, and the iOS versions are often better (see recent reviews of Google Search and Maps on iOS).

I have no issue using Google apps and have Chrome, Search (soon to be updated to Google Now), GMail, YouTube, and Maps on my iPhone 4S and love the UI.

For me I get the best of both worlds, I get the best hardware and the most fluid OS but with the very best apps Google has to offer.

With Android there are several choices.

Yet everyone chooses Samsung.

Google makes $0 from Android. They are actually helping foreign companies and hurting American companies in the process.

Google is the Korean economy's greatest gift. Take American software innovation, give it to the Asians, and watch them make bajillions in hardware sales in the hopes you can sell some ads someday.

In the meantime, Motorola, Dell & HP go down the tubes and Apple is left to battle the Asian clone-makers.

America says thanks, Google.

"We're insanely great and they suck."

Sounds like Samsung's TV ads over the past year.

That's why you go Nexus. Latest Android right away. No need to wait for carriers to bring out their version out.

Well, isn't the whole point of Android? Multiple models of phone for different people? Secondly, if I can only pick 1 phone, why does it have to be a non-LTE phone? The Nexus is an inferior phone for the 2013 North American market (if you can even get one).

I wouldn't expect Apple's top shill to say anything different.

Funny thing is, that stuff doesn't bother consumers any more now than it did when Apple's former top shill was alive. Android just continues to outsell iOS, and continues to widen the gap.

Exactly, in other words, Android continues to attract more idiots to it since they don't know any better. ;)
