Apple's decision to not offer a 32GB iPhone so people who want more than 16GB are forced to pay an extra $100 to get the 64GB version isn't entirely bad. For us AAPL stock holders :p

What a crock, I'm sure 16GB minimum capacity has been such since the iPhone 4S. Flash storage has plummeted in price since then and it's likely Apple pay next-to-nothing for it. Furthermore the 16GB model makes the 64GB model look like a comparatively 'great' deal, like you're getting more for your money - it's all subtle marketing and mind games.

Let's not even mention the 8GB models ...

I think the 16GB minimum capacity was even earlier than iPhone 4S. I remember hoping for Apple to ditch it when I was planning to buy the 4S... 4 years later, man, I was so naive...

I disagree. I find the 16g model quite satisfactory for my use and the tradeoff in lower price worthwhile. I don't need a lot of storage since I don't use it for videos, songs, etc. It is strictly a way to get mail from my personal and corporate accounts, surf the web when I don't have my MB handy, and as a way to tether when I don't have wifi or don't have my data modem handy. If they decide to price a 32g model at the same or lower price point fine but I don't want to pay more for more storage I don'y need. YMMV.

I got 100mb left on my iPhone 5s. I am planning to buy iPhone 6s this fall and my only option will be 64gb that's pricey for me. The 32gb is my right spot for storage but apple get rid of them sadly.

A 16GB minimum is bad, but it's worse than that. The 5c still comes with only 8GB. Saying that price conscientious users can offload data to iCloud is rubbish. You can't do anything with the free 5GB Apple offers, and anything beyond that isn't likely to appeal to the price conscientious.

Exactly those 8GB on the 5C make sure it is not a success. Put in 32 GB and make the front white and it would sell great at the same price.

#1 Priority should be battery. Being the thinnest by millimeters should be absolutely irrelevant in 2015. His ******** excuse that it takes longer to charge is insane. 99.9% of people charge their phones overnight and batteries need to be able to last all day in 2015. A dead phone is bad for everyone.

32gb should be standard.

I now hate him bc of his dellusional responses. Lolol

What phone do you have that it doesn't last a day? I use mine a lot and charge it a couple of times per week..

Your wish is Apple's command. And you don't even have to wait for the next release, you can get it today!

Maybe he is wishing to be able to afford one ;) as in the prices might come down .

1) What did you expect him to say? "We're going to bump the storage in the next generation. We like to let our customers know these things four months in advance so they rush out to buy the unsold inventory this summer."
2) I don't disagree with him. For many people, 16GB is enough. If all you do is use an iPhone for calls, mail, web browsing, purchases and music streaming, you don't need more than 16GB. The only reason my dad comes close to going over is apps for the grandkids to play. My mom went over because of the same reason plus she is bad at syncing her phone with a computer and thus removing all 15,000 pictures she took of that one baseball game. That was part of my reasoning behind giving her my 32GB 5s and getting a 64GB 6 for me.

I only bought the baseline storage model once because I thought it would be a swell way to save $100. That was dumb, and when people ask me how much they need I find out if they're the very basic user or if they need to drop the extra $100 for more storage. I almost always tell them more because they'll mention photos.

3) They bumped storage in all the other models last year. If people want more storage, they can do it. And the reasoning of using extra money in your production budget for a better camera or maybe adding RAM or NFC is quite on point. They just sold a bazillion iPhones with the iPhone 6 launch, so it's not like it's a MAJOR hurt on sales.

Stating they went over the 16GB limit for X reason, while also stating that X reason isn't really a reason and doesn't count is a hilarious justification.

16GB can easily take up storage not just the large file size of apps but also its hidden data within the app that can't be cleared without reinstalling the app.

wishing for 128GB Iphone in the next couple releases..

Because that is exactly what I want. To rely on the cloud so companies like AT&T, Verizon, etc. can suck you dry using data! Sigh. I would like to ask Phil "Do you own Gold?" Well local storage is like Gold. When the $ish goes down you know you have Gold".
In Europe we hardly pay for data, so for once Apple is aiming for a better infrastructure. Still doesn't justify having 16gb of onboard storage. Many apps use more than a gig!

If you were buying 32GB+ before, it's $100 saved or a free upgrade.
Just because something is available now that wasn't before doesn't mean you're saving money. That's the kind of illogical mindset that lets Apple do whatever the hell they want. Phone storage was always naturally going to go up ... they're not giving it to you out of the kindness of their hearts ... they're playing catch up with everyone else. 16 GB is just giving their customers the shaft. And people keep trying to justify 16 GB as okay because it's on the "cheap" phone. That cheap phone is $650 dollars. In what world is $650 cheap? 16 GB of storage on a $650 device is insane in 2015. There's no way to spin that positively.

If they hadn't gotten rid of them, you would have been able to buy the 32GB model for the same price you'll pay for the 64GB phone.

I hope he asked why new MacBook Pros can't be upgraded after purchase. I was able to upgrade RAM and install an SSD in my late 2011 MacBook Pro. The upgrades will keep me going until Apple ends support. This brings to mind Android Fragmentation. Customers are mostly stuck with the original version of the OS that came installed on the phone. To get the latest Android update, you’ll most likely have to buy a new phone and that's not a guarantee either. What Google does with software, Apple does with hardware. Against all odds, I hope this will change.

Besides, if it wasn't for competition/large sales from other phones it's likely we'd not have larger screens for a few more generations, or anywhere near the software developments on iOS. A world ran by Apple would be very bleak indeed.

What? A world without Apple would be bleak. You'd be sitting right now in front of boring Windows PC and using some kind of a Palm of Blackberry as your 'smartphone', not even Android, because without the revolution iPhone made on the market Android most probably wouldn't ever exist as well as Samsung phones.

If you are someone that never bought a 16GB phone then you're better off with the current models than you were before. There's no argument there. Either you got additional storage on your current phone than you did before for the same price, or you got the same storage for $100 less.
