I can't wait for the iYacht Mini to come out!

It's in the design stage now and is called the iDingy.

Unibody aluminum. I found a mock up here.

IMHO this is a beautiful boat, kind of a heritage design that actually looks comfortable to live aboard, has actual wood and probably a comfy interior smelling of rich mahogany. It also looks seaworthy, an important consideration.

Evidently, this isn't the actual Jobs yacht, so it will be interesting to see if he went wild like the Russian billionaires with their UFO-looking boats or stayed more traditional. The Russians also have helicopters and defensive weaponry.

His house is reasonably conservative, so maybe his boat is too.

It would also have been interesting to observe his interaction with the crew. Would he have been sent adrift in the iDingy shown above.

It's a terrible tragedy when *anyone* dies and does not get a chance to sail in their yacht first. :p

I heard that his last words were; "Now I'll never get to see my yacht".

Yeah, I'm sure...

WOW! I made a nice comment about how a dying man would never get to sail on his boat that was 8 years in the making and being designed by an exclusive worldwide renowned designer and friend, and you lot decide to take the piss and mock Steve's death...

The difference a few months makes............ carry on you insensitive idiots...

...Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Toshiba, Sony, and Motorola all announced they will soon be releasing their own line of yachts, all dubbed "iYacht killers." Apple's stock drops 10%.

...It turns out no one wants to sail on a yacht nicknamed a "killer." Every other company's yachts fail to catch on with consumers. Apple maintains market dominance.

A lot of snarky and cruel comments in this thread.

Steve was pretty humble and knew he was time sensitive so had no patience for anything but 110% effort. That said his own simple personal goals were stifled over and over by government incompetence and personal incompetence.

His departure from Apple.

His not being allowed to build his dream house on his own property.

His being strong-armed into forgoing his rightfully earned stock options because his firm followed GAAP rather than post facto installed regulations (ie who knew). That involved an arbitrary regulatory action BTW.

He at least got to fly on "his" plane.

But it seems he will never get to ride on his boat.

At least he got to erect a middle finger to authorities by driving too fast in a car with no license plate. For that I am grateful.

I know this. We increasingly live in a police state with no quarter. He didn't live to see it end in anarchy, but this is a guy who's biggest contributions to society are positive and forward looking things. Toy Story, Cars, Mac, iPod, iPad, and more.

But despite the heavy snark here, we will all know he didn't ever get to ride his own designed boat or live in his own designed house.

Rocketman

It's okay. Really.

Somewhere, someone is working on a big Apple project that will release this year.

You can rest easy.

If you appreciate yachts and boating you will understand how incredibly beautiful the W2 really is. I am sure Steve's yacht will be something spectacular.

I'm not mocking the death of Steve Jobs -- I'm mocking your original comment. I really doubt that in his final moments that he was thinking about his boat.

What the Jobs family does is not interesting, and their Yacht design is just yellow press fodder.

But the horizon this opened up is interesting: Apple could ask major designers to work on Apple products.

For anyone interested below is a link to some inside info from someone who got to meet the Apple ID team. I assume it's legit because they include a photo of Jony Ive. Not surprisingly Ive hates iPhone cases with a passion.

I love what Ive said about the competition: "If you want feature X, buy an HTC/Samsung/whatever instead" (Jony got a bit emotional there - "I don't want to go in a rude direction"). Hmm...seems to me Samsung has cornered the market on rude. :D

Starck's latest yacht design certainly looks striking at 390 ft.
The A yacht belongs to a Russian billionaire.
I can imagine Steve wanting something unusual along those lines.
