That back cover looks like it's had lots of use, considering how old it would be...

Why can't it just be a laser etched back of another phone?
Seeing as the SGOLD3H is reported to have the same limitation of screen resolution then it'll have the same ratio of length and width of screen as current iPhone. Simple enough to check that.

130mm across
75mm at 300%
that's a ratio of 1.73 Assuming a bunch of things (e.g. resolution up to edge of display).
iPhone is currently 480-by-320-pixel resolution at 163 ppi with a ratio of 1.5

Not out enough given my margins of error.

Well that would just be awesome! If you look, the top earpiece area and home button area are thinner, meaning the screen is wider given the same phone size. And your 1.73 is pretty close to 16:9 screen proportions which are 1.778. The old 1.5 aspect was a total butt - f... of a screw up. Doesn't match any video resolution whatsoever.

So I don't know what people dont' like about it. Screen, bigger and 16:9. Phone stays same size. Adds 3G. Non scratch easy silver back. Less chrome.

fake

i think its fake..

the reason for it is the size has changed the pic is the same size as a viewity fi LG my iphone is bigger or the guy in the photo has MASSIVE hands

No

No, a 3G iPhone will most certainly have a front-sided camera. ALL 3G phones do and Apple isn't going to fail on that.

Actually, good point. It's way too small. It's blatantly an old mobile phone that someone has shoved Apple logos onto.

I got new 3g iPhone it has jacuzzi in it

Quick one min job, I guess it's fake, but you never know.

BTW about front camera, if it will be there I think it will be probably not visible, under the glass the same way as you can see you proximity sensor, camera will be hidden this way. Just because everybody else have it this way and apple must have something different...

a metal frame (as the current iphone has) would be nice, gives more contrast!

it's most likely just a fake and the back doesn't look as solid as it will be^^ plastic is the wrong material for apple...

Come on! it has to be fake i have owned apple products all my life and have never seen something this ugly. Come on its fake dont worry.

I could see apple making that. I think it's too generic, but it does have the rounded edges and sleek look they've been going for lately.

Fake

Apple would never build anything as ugly and cheap as this. It's clearly a well worn, cheap plastic thing that could have been made by any 'me too' copycat maker. I'm not even convinced it's even a phone though.

Steve said: "Aluminum and glass." If it ain't got aluminum and glass, it ain't a real Apple product.

As to whether it's a spoiler FROM Apple... the jury's out imo.

So Engadget is reporting that the French blog, iPhon.fr recieved two pictures of a new iPhone, its all black and its shape seems to match what the latest rumors have been saying.

Thing is, I find it rather horrendous.

What do you guys think? Real or Fake?

Ill let you decide, but if true its dissapoiting in my opinion

I agree. Very disappointing if true. Not to mention that asthetically I think the current iPhone looks better.

The comments on this thread remind me of those made when the pics of the iPod Nano were released, a product that went from condemnation on the web as being unfashionably and fugly to praise when it actually was released.

I'm not saying that this is the final product for the 2nd gen 3g iPhone, that it's not a mock up, or that it's not even digitally enhanced. It's just not clear one way or another what it is or what has or has not been done to this photo. It's not even clear that the device is ugly or not until it is actually released.

Also, regarding the back side- The prototypes for the iPhone had a plastic screen which Apple replaced during development with glass in order to prevent scratching. If it is an actual Apple product and given its history of both experiencing and replacing scratchable surfaces, I'm sure that Apple would probably take this into account in a final product.

My conclusion with this photo is that I can't draw a conclusion or form an opinion about a device that hasn't even been released. We'll know for sure next month if Apple really does intend to release a 3 g iPhone and what it will look like.

I'd be very surprised by this

This would go directly against Apple's mission to be environmentally-sensitive. They prefer to use quality materials such as metal and glass. That's what makes their products feel more solid and also last longer. A plastic iPhone... that would be very disappointing to me, and would only strike me as a desperate move to get the phone adopted as much as possible.

Apple, keep your high values, and don't release a cheap, plastic phone.

Nice try.

And I can't see the joins, but pixel for pixel, the corners are identical. That just doesn't happen unless the same photographic image source is used for both final images.

Might happen if the thing was being 100% 're-engineered' in CGI using all the same values, but unlikely to be genuine.

"a desperate move to get the phone adopted as much as possible."??

Huh? Is there anything about Apple's design or sales strategy that strikes you as desperate?

They famously release what the market often generally regards as under equipped [all be it actually very advanced] first generation products, exceed sales expectations every time, and then wait as long as they possibly can before releasing new versions.

They'd lose every core buyer if they released this pile of *****.

Worry not pilgrim, all will be revealed in good time.

haven't read the entire thread yet but if it looks like this, I'll be in the market for the old iPhone rather than the new one, because this one is just fugly!

Secondly, it seems to me like the screen isn't aligned with the edge properly... it's not parallel! Or is that just me..

look like a bad photoshop to me.

Umm, kinda diggin' it (it is in fact, a legit iPhone v2.0).

Not as bulky and slimmer-the plastic is kinda also growing on me.
Um, with respect, on what grounds is it a legit iPhone? There are so many good reasons on this thread as to why it is obviously a fake. And it looks too old-fashioned to grow on me.

It looks nothing like Apple's design aesthetic. Not to mention it looks like a cheap phone from a few years ago with a large screen and Apple logos shoved on it.

Nice try.

I don't think he was trying to pretend it was true. It's a pretty good effort though - I like it!
