what do you mean it looks un-applelike?
the white one especially looks more apple than their newer stuff.
(like an original ipod, macbook, etc.)
the newer stuff looks "un-applelike" if anything.
but what is apple's look?
i mean, they went from clamshell ibook,
to the colorful e-macs.
what exactly are they limited to in terms of looks?
what do the current iphones currently resemble?
they look like nothing else that apple has made.
i think the new iphones look very nice.
seam and all. it makes it look better.

Hmm, anyone notice that there's no flash reflection in the white one? Looks a bit suspicious, maybe thats just me though. I've got no experience with photoshop shop so I can't really comment. Still can't make my mind up whether I like the white though, defo gonna get the new one, hope there's no delay in England like the iPad.
I hope so. I was an immediate fan of the new squarer shape but seeing the look of this thing appear so plastic in white makes it look like a toy or a knockoff worth $20. Appalling.

But as much as I don't like the white model, I'm not really a fan of the black one either. I really hoped that Ivy would give us a great new design. I'm pissed because all the fake models on the Internet are looking better than this one.
Of course the new model will look far better under the shiny lights from Apple's marketing pictures, but still, I don't like it. If I had to chose, I would have trimmed it a bit. I don't care at all of having a front facing camera. I will never use this. Just think for a second about it. You put your phone in front of you and you put the speaker on... Except while being on holidays, I don't need this. And if you really want to show something to someone, there are always MMS with videos.
Anyway, I stop rambling on. I do not like this new model. But that's a good news, because I won't have to spend another 300$ and renew a two-year way-too-much-expensive contract.
I love my iPhone 3G and I will not change it in 2010, that's for sure!

Why don't you read the Engadget article. It says that it looks like the LCD isn't snapped all the way in and that's why there is a strip of chrome. It's not there on the black one so it's pretty obvious.
I'll agree that it's not the best design, and I was hoping for a larger screen but why complain nobody is forcing you to buy it.

wow! im going to get the white one when it comes out thats for sure, i always wished that they put the white front screen on the 3gs, but now my wish seams to have come true
Why couldn't these people get pix of the back? I'm dying to see if there's black text on it or if it's chrome.
Why does it bother you so much? Why don′t people who can′t stand seams just go buy another phone? There are plenty of other phones available. You are complaining about something that is of so little importance. It must me tough for your boyfriend/girlfriend. Do you go like: ″Get rid of your earrings, woman or get lost!″
I don't know... there's just something about a white-face iPhone that just seems so off-putting. With the regular black face, all of the details (screen, home button, speaker, sensors, etc.) seem to just blend in while drawing minimum visual attention.
However, with the white iPhone, all of these things are more clearly visible and there's a sharper contrast between the actual screen and the white surround.
Just look at the picture of the two side by side. The black one just looks stealth -- the white one looks like, ehhh, I dunno.
Meh, that's just my opinion. I'm sticking with black.
That's because you are looking at the phone when it's off!
Just the opposite would be true when you have the iPhone on because if you were in say email, with a whiteish background, it would all blend together then. Just like now when you have a current iPhone on, the black border really exaggerates the screen. So it's just a matter of the screen being off or on! Plus, when iPhone OS 4.0 comes out, you will be able to pick your own backgrounds so if you would to buy the white one, you could pick a whiteish wallpaper and BINGO! BEAUTY!
That's what I'm gonna do anyway. The next iPhone I get will be white for the first time for me and I've had every model since the beginning.

but my vote is yes for screws considering the 3G and 3GS both have screws visible.
I actually love the look of it. Hate to admit it but it looks a bit like the latest Zune, which I think is a very nice form factor. This is very nice looking, I want one now.

The black one isn't horrendous, but the white looks boggin'.
