Your ignorance is astounding. You really should consider changing your user name.

Young and bright golden boys of tech world, slammed by the Great Recession and now reduced to this. Horrible times indeed.

Maybe these are a bottom, and the iPhone will sort of stand upright with a clear shell bubble around it. Looks big enough to hold ear pods and a cable. Then you could easily see the back color of the phone and its size (printed on the back of the phone). Just a thought.
This makes sense.

Hello folks. For what it is worth… I spoke to a person who basically works for Apple Management. His theory, which could be true, is that the new lower-cost phone will come in colors but it will be more of the anodized aluminum that you see the iPod touch currently utilizing. He states that the iPhone casing that everyone has seen in plastic is an absolute fake.

Your "person" has no clue what they are talking about. They will not use anodized aluminum on a low cost product.

Where there is smoke, there is fire. The plastic case is real.

As they're keeping the numbers, my guess is they'll go with:

iPhone 5c - 8GB/16GB - £200/£275 (free on contract)
iPhone 5 - 16GB/32Gb - £350/£425
iPhone 5s - 32GB/64GB/128GB - £500/£600/£700

I agree. Just speculating. But in a way I could see a specific model for China since its such a huge new market. I'm not sure exactly which spectrum China uses so it may be something like that or it might be used to denote a locked model with some specifics that the Chinese gov insists on (such as really tied down and with some limitations not included in international phones).

Guess we'll find out in a month or two.

That, and I think China Telecom showed Apple the real numbers and convinced them that if you can't sell at this price, Chinese customers in 2013 just won't be able to afford it.

Apple probably know that the good time in China has passed and if they want the sales number they expected from China, they have to reduce price to get it going. And there is no way they could bring the price of even iPhone 4 down to the amount now-poorer Chinese can afford.

Not much different on Why Nissan reintroduce Datsun back to India I think. If what you have in your catalog cannot be sold at the price your target customer can afford and you must do your business there, then make a new one.

nah forget it, that tamagochi screen size is so 2007. they much rather want to keep them all at the same size from now on.
And that's why they will discontinue the production of 4 and 4s this fall. They don't want to have to deal with the older models for too long, 5C will replace 4S in the shelves I reckon, not sure where that leaves iPhone 5. Either way their new tactic is to kill older models faster so that they don't end up having to deal with the same consequences of the Android pandemonium having in mind support, updates, new features (such as fingerprint scan), new products and overall the unified experience across the board.

Why would anyone want a 5/5S if the 5C will be cheaper and with more color options? Yeah, plastic isn't as nice as aluminum but it worked well for the 3G/3GS. It can't be much worse spec-wise either, or else why would it be called an iPhone 5?

The name itself really sucks. The cheap plastic sucks. The leaks show that Tim Cook doubled down on secrecy on products very tightly :D

If Steve Jobs was still here, there wouldn't be any leaks at all. Apple is no longer a secretive company. It's sad. :( No more surprises.

hmmm... or it's a planted leak. This case says nothing about the phone, and it's about $10 of extruded plastic... Movie Sets spend more faking prop shots.

The other side of the story
1) Apple doesn't want people to go out and buy a $199 Android phone when waiting for a couple months they can have a real deal new iPhone 5(c?) for $399(?)... 'real soon now.' (FUDding the samsung, HTC, and other low priced phones in non-US markets).
2) Apple is feinting a 5c, and seeing which suppliers have loose lips. If this container company is the only one making this batch of stuff, it's blacklisted.

The fact that Apple was delivering The iPhone in 2008 was no secret by the time it was announced... how it was built, what it did, how it interacted was all secret. You don't sell a phone without introducing strategic noise about the product... building to a crescendo.

Apple doesn't want the
1) the internals
2) the components
3) the new capabilities
3) the manufacturing method
4) the price
5) release schedule

divulged... but it definitely wants people guessing.

If the photo is true, I believe that the iPhone 5C will replace the iPhone 5 when the iPhone 5S (or whatever moniker Apple chooses) is released.

Usually when a new iPhone model is released, the previous year's model has traditionally been offered at $99. Apple's latest earnings report showed a growth in unit sales, but a decline in profit margin. This is most likely due to the expense of top quality materials and difficult manufacturing processes used in the current iPhone 5. By offering the iPhone 5 internals in a lower cost case that is also much easier to manufacture, they effectively increase profit margins again. Makes sense.

What I think will happen, is Apple will introduce new iPhones with the industry leading quality it always has, but the new $99 model will be the previous model wrapped in plastic, that may or may not include other cost saving measures such as a glass lens instead of sapphire, etc.

The phone will be carbon fiber. This plastic case the phone will go in will obviously have a clear cover on it to show off the color phone. It will be just plastic.

Here's another thought on the material of the phone itself... iPhone 5CF looks like a stupid name, but iPhone 5C makes sense and will have multiple purposes... 1 - for indicating color, 2 - for indicating carbon fiber.

Here's something to think about:

Kevin Kenney - Senior Composites Engineer - Worked at Kestrel Bicycles and was credited with being a pioneer in carbon fiber bicycle frame design. He was hired by Apple just last year.

Apple has been exploring a different shell material and design for years. Sure, the reports indicate MacBooks, but why stop there:
https://www.macrumors.com/2009/04/3...iber-composite-materials-for-exterior-shells/

The phone could be Liquidmetal with a color coating:
https://www.macrumors.com/2010/08/0...quidmetal-technologies-advanced-metal-alloys/

After all, here are some characteristic properties of LiquidMetal:

- High Yield Strength
- High Hardness
- Superior Strength/Weight Ratio
- Superior Elastic Limit
- High Corrosion Resistance
- High Wear-Resistance
- Unique Acoustical Properties

I'll never understand how can people can fantasize so much given a single letter. Rumors give you a C and you come up with carbon fiber even if there's not a single evidence for it? That's real mental masturbation.

I don't understand most of what you wrote, but the part I bolded kinda makes sense.

Did Apple actually take a jab at plastic phones? Didn't apple fans actually do that?
