Apparently human hands and fingers grew significantly over the past five years.

Would love to go back and see all those who spun how larger phones weren't necessary and didn't make sense.

One thing is making a big phone because you want and you can. The other thing is being unable to make a smaller high end device with the best possible SoC and good battery life.

That's what happened in the Android world, and still does. Only Sony managed to do it and it was very recently.

Those previous big phones were a pile of crap full of compromises. However, today, no one will look at something so nice as the G3 and see compromises, there. The time has come.

Batteries life will last a lot, great screens and all high end devices besides the G3 and the S5 won't throttle down due to heat. Apps are also ready for those screens. No one will have to use a note 3 to run apps that were made thinking on devices like the xperia x10 mini pro.

While all this happened, Apple was only selling more and more high end devices, and still growing. With bigger iPhones, they will totally annihilate everybody that sells high end devices.

Let's just hope that they keep up-to-date 4" devices for those that want then, or sell the 5s for free/400 of contract and bump the storage on the other devices!

This thread is basically a bookmarkable example of why banning silly gifs, flashy animations and images in posts would be such a positive move for MacRumors (IMHO of course).

The absence of long fingernails leaves me very skeptical as to the validity of this claim.

So does an iphone 6 will run quickly than iphone 5s only with a cpu boost and no extra ram?

It's easy to imagine Apple would have developed a few working prototypes of a 5.5 inch model just get hands on reactions from select members of the design team. Whether or not they decide to actually put it into production is a whole different matter. I, for one, think 5.5 inches is a rediculous size for a phone.

I don't think 5.5 is ridiculous, it depends on the bezel.
But I agree, they may have tried many different screen size including this 5.5 for a future release. That would explain some of the rumours and the leaks

Good. Are we allowed to speculate it exists now without 1080p and the likes telling us it doesn't, and that apple would never release a phone that big?

If this is the case then the 5.5 inch iPhone has made it further than other prototypes. I'm assuming when Apple decided to make bigger phones they made a ton of mockups between 4'' - 6'' in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Bezel, thats the problem. Apple has a well known design around that, the top and bottom are the same size. That will make for a larger than the others, phone.

They may have tried many sizes for the screen before coming up with the 4.7 and the 5.5 models.

I'm still convinced they'll release only one new model this year, but obviously there is some truth behind this 5.5 model, so I guess it'll it the market next year.
I don't believe the rumours about supply chain problems though. I think is only a marketing decision.
Of course I'll be happy to see both models next month, but there have been many leaks about the 4.7 model and very few about this 5.5, that's why I'm skeptical.

why not 2272*1280 -> 474DPI more like the actual competion  :p;)

Numbers don't tell the story. The CPU of a S5 is way more than a 5S, yet the 5S is smooth as silk, due to its SoC. Battery size is much smaller yet its similar battery life due to its SoC. If the screen is "sweet as" then one with higher DPI, then why ho for a higher DPI?

battery life similar ? Not :D
http://www.redmondpie.com/samsung-galaxy-s5-vs-s4-vs-iphone-5s-battery-life-comparison/

and if apple proposes this resolution will you chqnge your mind ? :D

On all the battery threads, many iPhone users have good battery life, and as we know, they do more on their phones. And many Sam users have poor battery life, its more about the user than the device. But, taking into account the Sam battery is twice the capacity, that particular page shows up well enough for a 5S.

Clarify "and if apple proposes this resolution will you chqnge your mind ?" 2272*1280 -> 474DPI?

Cannot recall the details but didn't Samsung use a penta something screen that increased the res or DPI but it was a fake means to raise the numbers? But in answer to you, I will expect the screen to retain its excellent image, if another phone has a better res/DPI but the 6 is really good, thats no issue. The 6 wont have an 8 core CPU as it doesn't need one to be smooth, due to the SoC. There is no phone that out specs every other, its about the end result. If the 6 has a decent battery, best SoC, which it will, thats a lot of efficiency.

Having said all that, to me its about iOS8 and Yosemite. Im not fussed on a 6 as it will be too large due to Apples symmetry policy, the top and bottom bezels will be large, making the 6 biggest phone in class, not good.

That 5.5" iPhone 6 looks huge! A real phablet ;) Finally seeing parts leaks. It almost certainly will be released after the 4.7" iPhone 6.
