I think it looks pretty cool. It could use some soft foreground lighting, but other than that it's a successful picture. I guess everyone has their comments and, as per usual, Jessica has her criticisms.
Options are like *******s, we all have them and they all stink. I can't stroke an ego ... well I can but it comes off as highly insincere.

I still believe the lighting is terrible, but what do I know, right? ;)

Long time no post. My longboard arrived last night so here's my project 365 photo from yesterday...

On Saturday i bought a new camera body, after my Nikon D60 broke after a few years of use, i purchased a Nikon D90, and am very impressed.

just need to start saving now for some new lenses, as i couldn't afford to get it with the 18-105 lens.

very nice photos everyone. Here is a closeup of a rusted door at a park near my house. Got to take a few pictures outside in what was the first light sprinkling my 450D has been in. Gotta be careful with the lack of weathersealing!

Nice light and scenery, but it's a bit too centered for my taste. Crop the bottom ( or better shoot it from another, eg. lower, angle)

Thanks for the comment, oblomow. I see your point. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of going back and re-shooting, at least not for a while anyway ... so I cropped it. Wasn't sure how much, so tried it twice. The first version below is a more subtle crop, the second more extreme. I think I prefer the more subtle version, since the extreme one loses too much sand, in my view. Any further C&C welcome.

i am brand new here and this is my first post. i have a feeling i'm going to really enjoy the potd threads. there's such great talent here!

i don't want to get in trouble with the whole img/timg thing so i'm going to post a smaller picture and then link to a larger version, if that's okay.

this is a photo of dandelion parachutes:

Amazing picture, can't view your link though, says it's private. Did you use any lens filters on that or was it fixed in post?

Here comes the sun

Been on a bit of a flower spree at the moment, good chance to test my 50mm and extension tubes. Macro shots are fun, but bloody hard when it's windy, all a part of the process though I guess.

thank you for letting me know about the link - it's fixed now :)
how are you enjoying the extension tubes? i've been thinking of getting the kenko brand for my digital rebel xt. i love my tamron macro lens and want to experiment with it more.

the stamen on your flower is really something. that yellow pops! do you know what kind of flower it is?

I love them! My dad gave them to me, along with a few other lenses that were off his old Olympus OM40, but they haven't been used it about 20 years

Do it! experiment! that's what photography should be all about.
Hell, next week when I'm back at uni I'm setting fire to an old broken acoustic guitar and photographing it, just to see what it looks like...

OMG...WOW!

gorgeous shot. love the lines with the waves on the sand and the clouds in the sky.

are those seals or swimmers or something in the water?

did you do any PP b/c the colours are amazing.

Thanks Keebler, I think they're birds in the water.
Haven't really done any major PP, the colours weren't changed.
Shot in JPEG, I think the in camera saturation was 1 notch over neutral.

It was a nice morning... until the sand lit up to a point where I realised that there were hundreds of tiny sand crabs around my feet :p ...
