I know you don't like my photos. However, I do love yours. I happen to like my photos and I do try for a certain look. I am after a painterly feel so I can hang them as art. In fact, I do hang them as art after I have them enlarged. I do get a lot of compliments. Really though, I try to create something nice and pleasing to the eye. I kind of go by by what I think looks good. Certainly, my photos and what I create are not any thing near your untouched photos. You have great talent and a great eye and certainly know your stuff. I do like to think there is room in the forum for my painterly photos. I like to think my photos and what I try to do is semi-unique and somewhat interesting. If we were all the same, it would be boring. I am creative and it is my blood. I like computers and software and photography and try to blend all my interests. I have fun using photoshop and various plugins. I like learning. I am eclectic and love all different styles. I like HDR, pure, and everything in between as long as they look nice and are interesting. Again, Your photos are 10s almost every time and I would love to spend a week with you learning some of your skills.:)

Yes, of course, everyone on the forum is free to post whatever they want (and comment too, I hope). But I think you’ve swapped depth and nuance for a party trick: a party trick that quickly wears thin. These tricks are fun for five minutes, but working with light is a passion that will last a lifetime. If you’re still taking pictures in twelve months time, I guarantee you’ll wish you hadn’t wasted your time converting all your shots into something that looks (a bit) like a painting. It’s a cul de sac, a one way street. You will have learned something that must be unlearned before you can move on, and that will be time-consuming and a drag.

Applying a plug-in effect, indiscriminately, is like discovering that chilli powder works great in curries and chilli con carne, so you just know it’s going to work fine with apple pie and rhubard crumble too. But guess what... it doesn’t matter what ingredients go into your cooking now... because everything just taste of chilli...

You’ve got too good an eye for a pic to be taken in by tricks...

Photo after photo that you post is unbelievable. I really doubt "luck" has much to do with it. More of an artistic eye and incredible talent. If I had to pick an artist to aspire to be like, it would most definately be you.

It's very sweet of you to say that. I really appreciate the compliment. :)

Just found this one languishing in my abyss of unconverted raw files...

I was looking through some old pictures today and found this from back in 2010.
Taken with an old Powershot S500. Exposure: 1/200 sec, Aperture: 7.1, Focal Length: 7.4mm

Georgian Bay Sunrise

Here is one I took a few weeks ago of the sunrise over Georgian Bay, Canada while on my way into work. Taken with my iPhone 4 as it was the camera I had available at the time. Other than needing a bit brightening along the bottom third, I think it turned out great.

The city is updating and replacing the natural gas lines behind my house. Here's a stack of the plastic pipe lines they are using.

Went out hiking today on this glorious Earth Day. It was pretty foggy and overcast, but it worked out well in the end. Snapped this lovely little web on my way up the hill; the marine layer ensured that there were several large webs, all of them covered in dew. As always, any suggestions\constructive criticism are welcome. :)
