Excellent composition. Love the position of the sun along the horizon.

You're on a roll this month, Reef. I'm really liking that foreground reflection on the second one.

AWESOME! I feel like I'm there. :D

Thanks for nice comments guys :)

So many terrific shots above, I can't comment on them all but they're excellent, keep up the good work crew!

My new B+W CPL arrived this morning, very impressed.
Massive improvement over my old CPL :)

AT06, I like the overall composition of this one, it's a pity about the tower there in the background, any chance you can take it out of the picture? What is the little structure on top of the hill? I'd be tempted to remove it or place an old church in its place. I'm currently playing with compositing, but just not in the Grimes way, no people in mine.

This is the best I could do with Aperture in removing the mast and building.

Erm, Rivington Pike is a prominent local landmark. Once you start 'removing' landmarks (or "putting an old church in its place"), where do you stop?

Doylem, no offence was meant to any sacred sites in your neck of the woods. It looked like a utility building on the top of the hill there, I assumed it was for the god awful mast adjoining it. My mistake. Once I saw it was a building of interest, even I was aghast at my suggestion to remove the building.

It still won't stop me from experimenting with compositing things together. How would that scene look with the London Eye up on that hill? :p

How about this - I think we can all agree that the mast deserved to go. Unfortunately I didn't get chance to go up to Rivington Pike as I had to get back home - but I do only live in Winwick (cheshire) so its hardly far away. Once my new tripod arrives, I plan to go back (hopefully later this week weather permitting) and go up to the top of the hill to get a good view for some landscape shots.

What a beautiful set of birds. Kudos to you all.

Thanks Phrasikleia. :)

I know it's not Spring for everyone contributing to this thread but I can definitely see a lightening and brightening of the recent and excellent images being posted. Well done all!

This is from our best day so far this year:

Pretty shot. Is that the North East coast? Reminds me of the Cairns area.

It's actually much further down - the south east coast of NSW.
The view you see is of the Illawarra region home to the city of Wollongong or simply "The Gong" as you may have seen in Macrumors user Chundle's "location" :p

I can see why it reminds you of there, the greens in the trees and puffy low clouds lend themselves towards a more tropical climate.
We've had a lot of rain and thunderstorms this summer (which makes for nice afternoon pics :) )

Another shot from my attempt to catch birds in flight the other day. I wish I had been quick enough to zoom in all the way when they came flying in.
