Reef, that's quite surreal. Really nice!

Not entirely sure what this plant is.

It's a heather. Looks like an Erica carnea variety but close up they all look pretty similar.

Thanks for the kind words :)

Just a little self-gloss pic:

Absolutely, insanely, unbelievably awesome. And it's mine. :D We'll see how the green machine and my 60kg frame can do on the weekend. I've still got to swap the bidon cages off it (they are from my other bike) and I still need to get my normal front wheel back.

It's a bit unnerving when they adjust the saddle height - by cutting the top of the seat post off!

I've been trawling through older shots of late, I have a bundle I need to process, just need to find the time between work. Even working from home, there are not enough hours in the day.

This one was an experiment to see what the 55-250mm lens could do in regard of macro. I found this ladybug on a fence post in the city, perfectly illuminated in this tiny spot of sunshine. End result? I wouldn't recommend this lens for macro purposes!

Joe, I really enjoy your series of twilight city shots, it's something I've been intending to do for a while now, combining my love of the blue hour and architecture. Now that we are finally out of daylight savings, it's becoming possible as the sun sets earlier. Thank you for the inspiration.

Thanks! Obviously it's the opposite problem here; we are now on summer time, which means I can't grab a few shots going to or from work. Glad to be an inspiration though!

I still have a few more shots saved up though:

And now for something a little more fun. A few months back I made a lame joke with my friends, "What did Gandalf tell the photographer? 'You shall not flash!'" (I doubt I was the first.) Next thing you know...

I've got a few more where I actually fired it that I may share later, but for now it was just a bit of fun.

Nice capture. The Stingray is one of the most striking car this year for sure.

Thanks. The car is really quite stunning in person. The dark grey color really looks good. I didn't get the chance to check out the interior in person but have read that Chevy has finally gotten it and especially the seats "right". One niggle, not sure that I'm feeling the rear end and especially the square tails. I think it's gonna sell like hot cakes and the new owners are gonna love it. I'll just have to enjoy seeing them on the road;)

Went for an educational bush-walk last week with the twin boys and a group of other home-schoolers. I decided to try using only my 90mm Tamron macro lens (that has no image stabilisation) for the duration of the hike, testing my potential ability to use this lens freehand. Very hit and miss overall, maybe 1 in 4 were usable, I think I'll stick to using this lens on a tripod in future.

Interestingly enough, one of the guides had just bought this exact same lens a week or so before and was commenting about his blurry shots. I suggested he get and use a tripod with this lens.

This is a juvenile native pine that is very strongly back-lit. Even at f/16 as this shot is, it has a very thin focal depth, maybe 15mm whilst being about 350mm away.
