lake louise ...

I'll never grow tired of pics from Lake Louise. The small (very small) canoe gives a good idea of the immensity of this place.

Well done :)

I've been offline for a week now, and slowly looking through this months pics. I'm amazed at the quality from everyone's pictures.

Very nice golden light there. It's always hard to avoid your own shadow when the light is at its best, might as well incorporate it in the shot :)

This looks like a 100 year flood is about to take the little house with it. Great use of perspective to get this effect.

Lakeland farm, today...

Beautiful light. Dark stormy clouds as a background for the golden hour sun is probably the most beautiful light there is. Unfortunately it's far too hard to come by.

I like how the stream leads my eyes to the car on the road. Makes you wonder where it is going and what's on the other side. I did very much enjoy your other photo with the light on the farmhouse and the storm clouds. It's moments like those that pop up that make you glad you have your camera with you (if you have the wherewithal to a) carry your camera, and b) have the vision to capture the moment). Both of which you obiously have! :D

I was compelled to follow the flickr link to see the date of capture. It's amazing that there is that much snow on the mountain in August.

Who ordered fall in the middle of August? I think our drought may cause trees to drop early this year, as this one is doing...

Early Fall? by Gerg1967, on Flickr

The trees are already starting to turn color around here too, just a little bit, but several weeks earlier than usual. The yellow leaves all over the green grass create a nice pattern in this photo; it's getting me excited for all of the great Autumn color shots that are sure to appear in this thread over the coming months. :)

My dirty truck ready for a night of rest.

Nice perspective and ambiance in this one.

Terrific light here and a nice visual rhyme between her jutting elbow and the metal bar. That said, something about her legs makes her look rather uncomfortable, and the exposed bra strap doesn't look intentional. Portraiture sure is full of challenges.

I enjoyed taking in all the fall colors, too. It was difficult not to stop at every street corner and take pictures of all the colors.

Today is neighborhood flower macro day because I'm short of time again.

Hi adonisadonis and thanks for your very kind words about my photos. :) As for the shot of the horses, yes, I did use a single focus point. When I first approached this location, I had a landscape in mind (which I took and will post here eventually), but I could not resist trying to photograph the horses when I saw them. Had I known I would be photographing moving animals, I probably would have brought along my other camera, which makes focusing on moving subjects much easier. The one I used is mainly my landscape camera, and I typically focus manually with it.

I must have taken about 100 photos of the horses and cows in that field to get maybe five that I like. For one thing, the animals were far more interested in eating grass than looking at me (despite my best efforts to charm them with sounds and fistfuls of tall grass), so it was very hard to get a shot of them engaging with the camera. Also, contrary to how my shot might look, the animals were constantly on the move, meandering all around this large pasture, so I had to keep scrambling back and forth along the edge of it.

Post processing: very little beyond the necessary raw-->JPEG decisions on this one.

Thank you very much for your reply, really appreciated. Hoping to learn more from you and from the rest of very good photographers here. Many thanks!

Yes, Phrasikleia, there is snow in Paradise...:)

Heavy snow and a cool Spring/Summer have resulted in more snow for a longer time on Mt. Rainier. As of August 7, the snow at Paradise was deeper than ever recorded since 1916. 43 feet as compared to an average of around one foot. This is a June 22 photo of the Tatoosh range as seen from the Henry M. Jackson Visiter Center aka Paradise. The Center is open year round, so the snow is very sooty. I would love it if it had limited access, just to keep the snow in my photos clean and white. I'll sent them a memo..
Check out the Buddhist monks in their orange robes in the lower right corner.

You're very sweet and very welcome. I learned a lot from this forum myself. :)

Yes, it sure did. The ethereal figure works beautifully with the misty background and cosmic display above. The "Orans" posture is also very appropriate. Well done.

I think he's got an eye out for the express train he's been hearing about … :)

I really love this one and the way the colours of the flowers blend into the background. I also admire the way you've managed to carry on with your 365 project. :)

I've been out shooting close ups of plants with background colours that set them off. This is one I did of some lavender but I'm not certain I got the focus right. Maybe I should have stopped down a bit more to get more depth of field. Some feedback would be appreciated!
