running the barriers...

The old Nikkor 300f/4 AF-ED screw-drive is much better at handling live sports action than lots of folks want to admit... I got plenty of keeper shots of riders coming right at me at high speed. I'll post a few examples in the days to come. This from the US Gran Prix Cyclocross series Stanley Cup in Portland recently.

One day while doing some Macro work for a Jewelry dealer I was being pestered by this guy so I shot him. Not the perfect image, but he did sit long enough for me to grab this one......

In the Atlanta area, we don't get much frozen stuff. When we do, it is often ice and not snow. This throws northern transplants for a loop because they're not used to just ice and no salt. It'll be a high in the 50's today, so this will melt quickly. I had to get out when there was just barely any light through the clouds to get anything still frozen.

Got out on a short hike down Perseverance Trail Sunday and this little guy practically posed. This was the sharpest of the lot... the little owe was packing away spruce cones.

Interesting little guy. Squirrels seem to be different defending on their environment. The forrest dwellers are always more on the lean and athletic side. I like all on the diagonal lines in the frame, the slant of the tree trunk and the pine cone work together. Nice sharp focus on the eyes.

Great feel of movement in the frame. Nothing is static, all is in motion. I like this best of all the cylocross shots you have posted.

Beautiful. Love the framing and colors.

Summerleaze Beach, Bude

I like the different layers of light, shade and colour here, nice.

That's what I liked about it too - glad you liked it!

Al this cold weather is making me long for Summer again ...

Great image! I also have the 300mm F/4 IF-ED you talk about - it's a very good lens. It performs beautifully on DX cameras. I took this photo with that lens on a Nikon D80:

I really thought at first glance this was super and still do, I must add that it, the roller coaster, looks like it could be made from Legos which would also be really cool.

The colors, composition, the feel of this photo and everything about it really brings back some great memories of a theme park I used to go to as a kid, thanks for reminding me and adding a smile today!

Wow! That looks like a great venue to shoot. I am envious...

I was happy with this one it, the eye detail was the best of the series. It was shot with a cheep AF-S DX VR Zoom-NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED. Cann't wait to get out with the new AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 ED VR that UPS delivered today. Better reach, and much sharper.
Hope to hike the same trail with my oldest daughter who helped rebuild the trail last summer over the holidays. Sure proud of her, she just finished a degree in Forrest Management. Hope she picks up a USFS job soon ;)

now this looks like a silly snow picture until you realize that: it's in the middle of a city; it's rare to have that much snow around here; non-visible traffic is a total chaos and i am not in it; it's made with my iphone. :D
