Glad you enjoy my photo, it really means a lot to me! Thanks!

You're welcome. And thank you for the details. It sounds like a challenging setup and execution.

The rig was attached on the hood and passenger fender of the car.

If you have a shot, could you please post of picture of the setup. The curiosity is killing me. :D OK, I'll live, but I am wondering.

Just got dumped on by well over a foot of snow... Sigh... :(

Chowing down? :p We were around 50 miles into the ride and had already climbed over Patterson Pass, so we were pretty hungry by the time we hit the BBQ place. The guy in the fluorescent yellow jersey and I were first to the top of the pass by almost 30 minutes over the rest of the group.

Yes. No matter where we ride, we end up in a cafe somewhere. We are mostly ancient roadies who ended our racing or sporting careers 20 years ago but still put the miles in and enjoy swapping tales at a cafe during the ride. :)

This was shot with a stickypod hanging on the rear quarter window of a Celica GT-Four. The STi Chasing, is me. :)

p.s. I see you mike.

Yeah, even the B&W filters were sold out around the world for several months. I was very happy when they came back into stock. I'm not sure how one type or the other would work better with multiple lenses, though. You still have to have holder adapters for the panel-type of filter (unless maybe you're using the rubber-band type of holder?). I had to buy multiple adapters to use my panel-type filters with different lenses. I use a step-up ring to move my 10-stop screw-in ND between lenses.

I've got a Lee Gel-Snap rubber band holder, but it's not that bad to have multiple 100mm holders- $60 for a Z-series holder, and they're much easier to manipulate using gloves or in the rain than step-up or step-down rings IMO.

I couldn't sleep, so I got up and grabbed a moon shot. It's a little hazy out there, but we've got a storm coming in tomorrow night so conditions will worsen over the next few days, and not improve. It's reasonably sharp, but you can see the halo from the haze.

The EXIF information is a little misleading as I used a 2X TC stacked on a 1.4X TC along with my 300/2.8 and Nikon's firmware can't account for the stacked teleconverters. 840mm at f11 (I stopped one stop down from the indicated maximum of f5.6), 1/200 at ISO 1600, manual exposure mode, manual focus, mirror up, remote release used.

Yes. My group of aging roadies would fit into your picture perfectly. :)

Seriously, I like the scene, the rich colors, and the story it tells. I relate and I like it.

Thanks. Our group is definitely aging too. I am in my mid-50's and at the young end. Our ostensible leader is in his early 80's and someone I find inspiring. Amazingly, he was 3rd man up to the top on the climb that day.

Eagle Owl

Me and my girlfriend was doing a zoo keeper experience day and while she was handling some of the big birds I managed to grab this picture...

My wife went to the zoo this morning... without me... I couldn't get away from work today to go with her. I want to go there and try to take pictures like this one.

I have a small suctioncup mount thats stuck on the quarter window of the Celica.
I made a DIY intervalometer and set it on 1shot/sec.

Then fished thru results for the best one :)

Man, you continue to be a wealth of info and aids. First The Photographer's Ephemeris, then EXIF add-on for Firefox and now this! Any other apps up your sleeve? Thanks once again!:D;)

You're welcome. :) I think that pretty much covers it. I also have "DoF," which you can probably guess from the name is a depth of field calculator. Very quick and easy to use without a bunch of other fluff thrown in, however, I rarely use it in the field. I usually just guesstimate and then chimp to get the focus right.

The Federal Medical Center, a prison a few miles from my house. I felt kind of weird shooting this, like if I hung out too long, a federal agent was going to tap on my shoulder and ask me to come with him for some questions :D

They probably won't take you away, but they will ask you to leave. I was at the local VA facility taking some beauty shots of my car a few years ago when a couple of marshals advised me that what I was doing was against the law and that leaving right away would be in my best interest.

I am such an ornery child of the 60's ... I wouldn't be able to resist demanding to know what law I was breaking.
