I am such an ornery child of the 60's ... I wouldn't be able to resist demanding to know what law I was breaking.

My guess would be they'd use a trespassing charge to put you under arrest, then release you later after ruining a good chunk of your day. Cops just love people who question authority...

This document touches on the subject (link). I was in their parking lots, so I was not on public property when I was shooting.

My cats having one of their frequent sparring sessions. The younger one (the one on the right) is usually the aggressor.

Also, I'm really missing my Mac and Aperture. The super drive broke, and it is at the Apple store waiting to get fixed. I've been without it for 5 days now. Just as I get the hang of using Aperture for my workflow, I have to stop for a while and use my Windows 7 work PC. It just isn't the same. And, when I do get it back, I have to import all the pictures I've taken over the past few days...

Wishing I had one of these in hand right now... Cheers! :)

I'm a big dog fan, so absolutely loved watching these dogs fly off the dock into the water. This shot I was experimenting with a new Tokina 11-16 2.8 wide angle on my Nikon D90.

Those mountains look nuts! Wicked photo!

Here's another from my Suzuki Aerio photoshoot. I don't really like this angle was I wanted it to be lower but it's the best I could do at the time. Rig was mounted on the top of the car.

They probably won't take you away, but they will ask you to leave. I was at the local VA facility taking some beauty shots of my car a few years ago when a couple of marshals advised me that what I was doing was against the law and that leaving right away would be in my best interest.

One has to wonder if that is against any law. Too often what cops and security say about photography and the law isn't correct.

Another quick snap while out on a ride. This time we were at the Courtland Market to rest and cool down. We were 60 miles into an 85 mile ride from Martinez to Sacramento. It was about 90+ degrees out and this shaded bench was a nice little oasis. Throw in the strawberry juice bar I had, and it doesn't get much better.

I'm honestly confused as to how these are done. Why can't we see the rig? Is it because it was edited out? Looks great though! Belongs on promotional material. :) Clearly shows how bloody fast a Suzuki Aerio is. :p

There are enough "Photography and the Law" books around that one really shouldn't have to wonder- especially if one is likely to be subject to the issues therein. Cliff3 said he was in their parking lot- from my readings, that generally means that they may apply trespass law, unlike had he been shooting from public property. It becomes a thornier issue if the status of the land one is shooting from is in question, such as:

Pretty much, and the DHS document I linked to in this post should answer most questions a reasonable person might have.

The photo taken by the person to whom I originally responded indicated that he was far enough away from the facility that security personnel assigned to that facility would not perceive him as a threat, assuming they were aware of his presence at all. Having said that, if a law enforcement officer feels a need to have a conversation with you, they will find a way.

I'm going with an iPhone shot today taken as I was leaving a mall. I have to be out tonight and don't expect to have time to photograph, process and post later today. I saw this store display as I was going into the mall, so I stopped on the way out for the shot. I liked the colors, lines, and the clouds and sun reflected in the display window.

And, yay, I have my Mac back!
