I went out last night with plans of capturing the Vancouver skyline at sunset from the North Shore... and this gazebo was begging to be included in the picture. I'm interested in your thoughts on the composition... good, bad, or ugly?

Beautiful photograph, and as others have noted, great colours and juxtaposition. Hopefully you won't think me too ruthless with cropping, but this is how it would have ended up if I was fortunate enough to have that photo in my portfolio. I think it adds strength to the gazebo as the focal point.

Just my opinion of course.

One of my most favourite places. I will have to visit again now I've taken up photography.

----------

I saw the clouds light up on the way home and ran from the truck to grab this before the sunset faded away.

Beautiful sky. I hate seeing sky's like this when I'm stuck at work.

I am still learning how to use my camera, and I have a lot to learn about the basics of photography.

Don't we all! You have got the Cats eyes in focus which is correct. Just try and think about what's going on behind your subject as the curtain is a little distracting.
Most of all keep shooting and posting. It's the best way to learn.

Nothing too exciting from me today, but this is personally a conquest of mammoth proportions. Using my new tilt-shift lens and getting maximum perspective correction and focal depth at once, easier said than done, especially when you are using liveview for focusing and not being tethered to a laptop! I'm practicing a lot with this lens under all manner of conditions. This picture had a lot of tonal and colour corrections in PP, not that you would think it needed it. I'm starting to feel more comfortable with it these days and am able to get my images composed and focused within a minute now.

This is a three frame pano.

Nice! Really nice! I love it!

Well done Schtumple. I hope that some day we'll see you author a collection of image capturing and processing tutorials that showcase your style.

On Macrumors you are the king of post processing. I see your status has changed to vendor. What's that all about?

Thanks guys! When I first started posting here however many years ago I was in awe of the quality of the shots I was posting next to, so to receive comments like these really does mean a lot, thank you :)

I may start up a little photography blog at some point, most frustrate me by focussing too much on the raw technicals and offering little else, I could have my niche.

Also, I have no idea why I'm labeled a "Vendor", maybe a mod or admin could weigh in?

Nowhere near on par with you guys on here - some of them are just spectacular! Anyway, haven't been able to get out much recently due to the floods. Got a quick little 30 minute session in today though (up against 70mph winds :D)

New camera arrived yesterday but I didn't get time to play around with it too much. Took a quick snap this morning to try out my manual focussing skills. It's going to take some time for me to figure this one out and adjust to manual focus.

Cool toy! The XE1, that is, ohhh... and the robot! Enjoy!

You can double your odds of getting some captures of Mrs MacRy now, one camera in each hand! Just make sure you are out of reach of those knitting needles tho. ;)

Thanks for posting the more recent selfie, my visions of "Pennywise the Clown crossed with a Tellytubbie" have gone now...
