Great shots in the blue hour VirtualRain, very nice.

Many thanks for this, yeah I read parking is an inconvenience
I'm interested in taking the 400L and attempting some panning shots of the planes landing in your style as well

400L? As in the 5.6L prime? It might be a bit too much reach if it's on a crop body. You can park at the sports fields on the other side of the canal beside Qantas Drive if you don't want to add more money SACL's already overflowing coffers by way of exorbitant parking charges.

Another tip - look at the YSSY ATIS to see the runways in operation (it's at the bottom of the briefing in the APCH section).

I've been digging out photos from storage and getting them online, this is one of them:

It's no longer possible to get that photo. :( It was probably my favourite of every airshow photo I took.

Schtumple: Love the frosted grass, great shot. :)

Looks like this shot was taken at Moss Landing and using Topaz in post. Am I right?:)

Very peaceful scene, Doylem.

I really like your focus on the one most prominent blade of grass. The purple hues add a wonderful bit of contrast here too. Lovely photo.

Still digging through my archives for photos I previously overlooked...

You overlooked this beauty? You must be spoiled.

Thank you, ironically, because my camera is essentially broken, those purple hues are what the camera picked up and not added in post, in this case I was lucky and it worked.

Heh, thanks, oblomow. I must confess that I didn't even notice the smoke billowing out of the chimney at first (which kind of makes the shot for me). It's a crop of a larger composition that I didn't end up liking because the fog shifted during my long exposure and revealed some distracting trees on one side. When I later got over that fact and looked more closely, I saw a picture within my picture, so to speak. :)

The view from my dentist chair... (best viewed in high res if you click through)

Wow, that's some view you have there! Your patients must be happy to need root canals! :p Beautiful panorama.

P.S. Anyone else having trouble with the TIMG extension in Chrome on Lion? It worked a few times, but mostly doesn't.
